yeah its best just to buy them from Luzern directly they will do a custom knife for you. but you have to go to Switzerland though

      • +2

but you have to go to Switzerland though

If you have money to Bern…

      $5 at the Reject shop.

these are tiny - one time I kept in a small zipper compartment and forgot about it and tried to take it onto a plane..

    • +2

I think I saw you on an episode of Border Security on channel 7.

    • Happened with me. One airport couldn't even figure out it was there. In Singapore I was detected and they took it.

      It was sooo handy always.

  • +2

I got a Christmas card from Union Bank Of Switzerland around 1988 that included one of these (it included the UBS logo rather than the Victorinox one). They are tiny but I have used it hundreds (if not thousands) of times since receiving it. It's still working to this day and lives in my bedside table.

Thanks OP. Bought one for my son. Have had one of these for years, so handy

  • +1

    Looks like it's over. I see $41.90

  • 41.9 for me

    • Same

      • It's switched to another seller. Very limited quantity, I saw two left just a few minutes ago.

  • Is a code needed?

  • +2

I keep confusing my SwissCard for my debit card. Not good, technically it's armed robbery.

  • Can someone please reply if it goes back down in price? Thanks!

  • +2

These are so smol, don’t be too bummed if you didn’t get one.

    • +3

True, but the scissors and the tweezers are the most often used things on my main knife, making this very useful. Not $41.90 useful though.

  • I’ve had one of these on my key ring for the past 40 years. A true “buy it once” item.

    • I've bought several of them over the years, the scissors keep breaking

fyi, this is illegal basically anywhere in Australia - with serious penalties. Do not carry any kind of knife.

    • Not true. Citation needed.

      • Which state do you live?

        • Citation for any state would be a good start. What's the length on this thing… 4cm?

          • @rumblytangara: Ok here's one for WA.

            https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/western-australia-police-…

Maximum penalty of three years imprisonment and a fine of $36,000 - so do not carry a pocket knife around.

            • @trapper:

There are some circumstances in which a person has a lawful excuse for carrying or possessing an edged weapon.
              These include:
              lawful employment, duty, or activity
              lawful sport, recreation, or entertainment

I'd say that a carrying a pocket knife with an impractically complex to unlock 4cm blade could easily be passed off as recreation/activity/activity. I sometimes carry one around in case I need to use a screwdriver or tweezers to do… you know… lawful things like tighten screws or remove splinters.

Hell, most pocketknives come with a toothpick attachment. I don't think they've outlawed dental hygiene yet.

I'd be well surprised if you could pull up a case where some non-dodgy citizen has been arrested for carrying a pocketknife.

              Otherwise you're just scaremongering.

No that will not be sufficient, you need a lawful excuse to be carrying an 'edged weapon' at that moment.

'in case I need it for something' is not lawful excuse.

                • @trapper: Yeah, I call bs on this one. Give me real evidence than 'I said so' over and over again.

I've been in much more repressive regimes than carefree liberal Oz and searched, carrying tools like pocket knives or leathermans and the police haven't cared.

Or are you a copy of a judge? Otherwise you're just making things up.

I linked to the 'real evidence' in my first response to you.

Good luck carrying your knife around in WA.

    • She'll be right

    • That's not a knife.

      • Yes it has a blade.

    • Show me a jurisdiction in Australia where you can’t carry a knife when you have a lawful excuse, where a lawful excuse includes for recreation or for preparing food. Don’t try to carry one airside at an airport, or into a school, or to a stadium event, sure. But that is a far cry from “Do not carry any kind of knife.”

      • It varies by state but it needs to be for a specific, legitimate purpose. You can't be carrying it around just in case a purpose comes up.

    • +4

Allow me to share from QLD’s Weapons Act 1990 “A person may carry a pen knife or swiss army knife for use for its normal utility purposes.”

      • +1

Yeah Queensland is one place with an exception for these.

        • I guess Vic is a no go

          • @MagicTsukai: Yeap, you can be fined $20k and or jailed for a year.

If in the vicinity of a licensed premises these penalties are doubled.

            • @trapper: LOL. If you got fined $20k, or jailed at all, for carrying this sized Swiss Army knife then something, somewhere, has gone terribly wrong, and it's probably not happening because of the knife.

              • @MonkDog: That is literally the law though.

You can decide to risk it if you like, but those are the penalties.

  • I always miss this one 😭

  • Damn missed it again!!! 🫨

  • yep - beware of leaving them in your carry-on bag to airplanes - I lost a beautiful fancier Swiss Army knife that way leaving Japan - a Japanese security woman checked it after it had alerted on the X-ray - fished into my bag, held up the knife with a sad expression - and that was the last I saw of it - {sob}

  • That's a great price!

  • +1

Well, mine arrived and my first thought was "what is this, a knife for ants?"

But then I realised that according to @trapper it's a one way ticket to jail, Do Not Pass Go, and handled it with the reverence it so clearly deserves.
