Bought the above set from Costco Melbourne over the weekend. Did a quick search online and found that just the TV on its own costs more that the above price.

That is a nice looking TV.
Pretty sure Costco have a 30day price match guarantee as well for their TV's.
To clarify thats if the price drops in Costco, not elsewhere.

  • does Costco really price match? does anyone know what the policy is? I cant seem to find it in their website…

Nah I called them to check and they dont, only if it drops in price at Costco.

      • cool.. thanks. :)

This TV was tempting when Sony had the $300 cash back & BBB was selling it for $1790.

    • Yeah I was very tempted to take up that offer myself, but my current 46" TV (3 years old) is working fine, so couldn't justify the upgrade.

  • Does it come with any 3D glasses? Great price but I've read reviews from internet saying it is not a true internet web browser (limited to Sony Network) and Sony TV does not read lots of media format compares to Samsung and LG?

    • It came with just 1 pair of 3D glasses. I still have to try the internet web browser. I just managed to test browse some videos on Youtube using SEN (Sony Entertainment network)- youtube app and it worked fine. Need to spend more time trying other features.

  • I got the KDL-55HX750 after the deal posted on here, infact thats why I'm visiting this site almost daily now. Big Brown Box had it up for $1390, got it price matched at JBHIFI and with the $300 backback after spending $100, giving ~$200 back taking it down to $1190 - steal. From what I've read the picture quality on this is slightly better and the 750 looks great as it is.

    • If the picture quality is good, then you have got a Superb deal for 55HX750. I would be happy with it.

Found the following from the CNET review link included in my post … "Where this TV really departs from the HX750 is with 3D. It is the TV itself, because the glasses are the same with both sets…"

"But look a bit closer, and you'll see that the more expensive model gets the full-sheet-of-glass treatment, in which the bezel doesn't protrude forwards, but is simply blanked out in sections on the underside of the glass. The glass itself is Corning Gorilla Glass, so it should stay looking good. The panel is also quite thin, at just 35mm. The stand has a kind of forward-reaching neck, so there is no obvious pedestal, giving the unit a free-floating look.

This TV is also compatible with the optional speaker stand. This is a low-set aluminium-look bar with built-in active loudspeakers. It allows better sound, and lets the TV tilt back by 6 degrees."

Hope this helps others in making the right choice….

  • UK Magazine What TV and Hi-fi was raving about this TV.

Out of my price range though.

Do have an older (and cheaper) Sony TV and about to get a Samsung after a lot of research. One key reason is that the online experience with Sony isn't as good as the Samsung. Also the USB movie playback is quite limited in regards to codec support.
