Cleaner the surface the better it works as per any sealant or coating.
Great stuff. Applied over 3 months ago and is still beading water off my car.
How much was used and what size of vehicle?
Toyota Prado. I use around 2-3 sprays per panel, evenly apply with microfibre then buff with a clean microfibre. Do this twice for best outcome.
1 Bottle was sufficient?
@TrdiK89: Okay, just checking because the size of everyone's vehicle is different. Could be use a bottle for 10 x i20s…….. but might only last 3 x F150s.
@geekcohen: Common sense would say it's "average sized car". Obviously if you are going to use this on a stretch Hummer, the bottle won't last anywhere near as long.
@geekcohen: True that's why a prefer Bead Machine when on special https://www.bowdensown.com.au/bead-machine because you don't need of it much to get the desired finish.
This stuff works.
SCA has been ripping hard on this one for a while. They've been asking $55-$60 for a few months now. Will stock up now, they can suck it!
Super Not Cheap Auto
Been waiting for this deal to comeback. Bought one. Thanks OP.
since it contains liquid SIO2, would that cause Silicosis if your not wearing the a chemical mask?
Silicosis requires Si dust particles, so no.
liquid sio2 can get absorbed by skin so always use rubber gloves when dealing with chemical stuff rather than waiting for medical science to discover that skin absorption of sio2 causes xyz diseases.
Is it easy/safe to use who doesnot have any experience etc
yes
Easy to use, just make sure you wipe the whole panel and make sure to leave no runs as it dries and leave visible "stains"
This has worked so well for me on a bunch of different cars except a Navara, strangest thing.
Maybe that car had a wax or some other kind of coating? It doesn't stick in that case
This bottle is larger with 500ml than the previous deal 16oz (473ml)
this or graphene wax?
If I remember correctly they're very similar, graphene may be slightly more hydrophobic, but last slightly shorter than the ceramic wax (but both last surpisingly long)
Can't go wrong with either really, I personally use the ceramic!
shame it appears most of the turtle wax graphene aren't for sale anymore
I may have had back luck but the first order I redeived from Amazon (US) had a faulty pump. You'd squeeze it and liquid would stream out from the areas around the handle.
The replacement they sent had the same issue, so I gave up and used another bottle.
How it compare to the wax wash at the hand car wash for $4 + 50c surcharge and I can quickly form wash and raise before that. I know I need to drive there.
This is good but it doesn't last as long as people say it does. I've cleaned and prepped two cars and both stopped beading after roughly a month and a half. The cars get washed weekly with a pH neutral soap, and I've moved on to Gyeon WetCoat. It seems to last a bit longer at 2.5 months before the beading slows down.
It is a bit more expensive than this but heaps easier to apply. You just spray and rinse the panel, no need for any buffing
You’re washing with soap after using this wax? You’re only supposed to use water + microfibre lightly after application until you do a full wash and wax again.
Not immediately after, if I apply on Sunday, the car gets washed the following Sunday.
Why would you wash it with soap after applying a wax? You’re taking the wax right off. Even if it’s pH neutral.
@JSONBourne: so of I need to ‘dewax’ the car then wash with any ph neutral soap foam or are there any specific brands for that? because it seems I have waxed in some dust as well so need to’ dewax’
@backupper1: Basically once you apply the wax keep all soap away until you want to do a full reapplication.
In the interim use a water rinse. Soap will debond the wax from the surface.
You can hardly complain about protection when you’re immediately taking the wax off. This isn’t a true physical ceramic coating which is more durable to rewash.
@JSONBourne: What you're saying makes sense but after it rains, the car is dirty. Water alone does not remove the dried water spots on the surface.
On the back of the bottle, they say "Use HYBRID SOLUTIONS CERAMIC 3-IN-1 DETAILER and HYBRID SOLUTIONS CERAMIC WASH & WAX to maintain shine and protection". I've tried a ceramic soap and it extended it by a bit but not as much as Gyeon.
@yikes914: Yes that’s correct and the dilemma of anyone wanting to keep a clean car. If you’re using soap to clean off dirt, expect it to also take off the wax with it. The surfactants, builders and cleaning agents don't distinguish between dirt, grime or wax.
This spray isn’t a physical barrier but a chemical barrier. By using soap on the wax you’re debonding the wax off the paint surface. The detailer you mentioned fills in abrasions and swirl marks to increase shine, it doesn't add further protection.
So TL;DR - don’t expect 6 months if you’re using soap.
@JSONBourne: Makes sense, but using a ceramic safe soap shouldn't wear down the coating that aggressively. Not too sure why but the Gyeon seems to be holding up better.
I heard great things about Hybrid Solutions so I was disappointed when it didn't last.
@yikes914: I think the ceramic soap you have got is designed for a proper physical ceramic coating, the ones you pay $2-3k for. That is an actual sealant that bonds with the paint. See here.
This TW product (that I love) is using cheeky marketing, it is a wax not a sealant. Aside from sharing the word ceramic they are completely different products. Your wax is likely designed for ceramic sealant, not a spray on wax.
Some further reading if you're interested - Ceramic spray coat vs "real" ceramic coating?
@JSONBourne: It makes sense, what would be the difference between this and the TW? The Gyeon seems to last longer.
@yikes914: Ultimately they're trying to do similar things, apply a hydrophobic slippery surface to your car.
The difference is proper sealants (and I mean the ones that cost $250 in raw materials alone) actually physically bond with your paint. It's extremely tough to apply and it's why you get it done professionally so you don't ruin your paintwork. Once it bonds, it bonds and you can't get it off easily without using solvents and the like. They're also thicker so they can give you some physical protection to the clear coat underneath from scratches.
This on the other hand is a 'sealant' in the sense that it is likely more durable than a wax, but the fact it's hand applied and uses a pump spray indicates it's not going to do the same thing as a proper ceramic coat. Completely different chemicals. Sealant, wax and ceramic coating aren't protected labels so a lot of low-mid level products misuse the names. It will likely be tougher to apply than wax, and will bond better to the pain. You'll need to be careful getting it near plastics or rubber.
Ultimately your soap is likely for the full real deal coating. Because it's physically bonded to the paint, soap (especially pH neutral) doesn't really remove it.
If you want to keep the car cleaner, I'd probably dilute whatever the recommended ratio is down to 30% normal. You'll get more life out of the wax but still get some cleaning action.
@JSONBourne: Cheers, I know that the TW is a sealant and not a real ceramic coating. Unless I'm mistaken, both the TW and the Gyeon I linked are sealants, what would be the difference between them?
Gyeon do have their proper ceramic coating but the one linked is a sealant
@yikes914: Like I mentioned there are $10 sealants and $250 sealants. The same as $10 house paint and $100 house paint. One is going to last longer than the other, apply better and be less susceptible to being broken down by soaps/physical wiping.
TW is neither, and so shouldn't be washed with soap regularly.
Almost everything you have said in this thread is wrong.
You still wash a waxed car with soap. Foregoing this will scratch and mar the paint. Water lacks lubricity and cleaning power.
People using wax are generally doing so for appearance. Most waxes have a lifespan up to 3 months, unless a garage queen.
I would suggest educating yourself, instead of giving incorrect advice with so much certainty.
I can't be bother retracting everything wrong you have stated. But suggest others avoid your misinformationI'm not suggesting to wash your car with water only, obviously that is going to be terrible for the paint if you have contaminants you're swirling around. The advice was just to rinse if you want longevity.
Are you suggesting then that car wash/soap has zero effect on spray on waxes? My point is just that washing with soap will reduce the lifespan of any wax.
Wash it as many times as you want after waxing, that's your call on how clean you want it. But it will reduce the wax lifespan.
@JSONBourne: Your own words
Why would you wash it with soap after applying a wax?
Basically once you apply the wax keep all soap away until you want to do a full reapplication.
Yes anytime you touch the paint, the lifetime of protection will decrease
But washing will assist the characteristics of it. Eg. Gloss, hydroponic properties
all you need is to water it, most dirt would come off. I use this because I dont like to wash my car monthly, it gets dirty the next day anyway. I think I can get away for twice a year with this, garaged every night.
Same. I still see beading at 5 months, albeit I always give it two coats. I reapply twice a year.
Dirt will come off but not dried water spots, that needs a soap normally. My cars are parked in a car port and gets driven daily. Being a black car doesn't help, you look at it wrong and it gets dirty.
Griots 3 in 1 if you can get it
Which store can you get this from in Aus?
I previously bought it from amazon but it appears that it's currently unavailable.
Do you remember how much it was and how big the bottle was?
What do people use to add UV protection to piano black car exterior plastics? preferably something that lasts long
You can just use tyre shine stuff, I've been using an old turlewax tyre shine kit, comes with gloves, foam pad and the black liquid, use that on tyres and black plastic trim pieces and wipers
I haven't washed my car which I bought 2 years ago new from the dealership. No wax, no coatings, nothing. I just park the car outside when there is heavy rain forecast, other times it's parked in the garage. 2 years on and still clean enough. I think people literally destroy their paint (clear coat) by over washing their cars introducing scratches, swirl marks etc. Mine is perfect with not a single mark as it was never contact washed, just contactless rain rinse down.
I’m guessing you don’t have a black car?
Silver.
Exactly. Some colours hide it better than others. White and black cars tend to show the dirt more than others.
Mate silver can be egregiously filthy and still look just fine.
contaminants would now be embedded in paint from no washing
i have a metallic silver car, wash may every 2 mths depending on if there has been a lot of dust during a rain as i like clean windows, or stuff has fallen from the tree. i use wash and wax between a proper once a year wax. products seem to compromise between ease of use and amount or quality of the wax in them. easier to sell spray stuff than a wax in a can that takes more time and effort to apply and buff.
It is very good stuff.
Would this be a good alternative for nano shield type coating for a new shower screen?
No
Thank you. If anyone can recommend a good value internal shower screen coating, feel free to let me know.
@TrdiK89: Thank you. Was looking at an option <$50. But if Aquashield is the longest lasting, maybe I spend the premium.
can i spray on glass
If you mean on side glass that's fine but windscreens no it will streak as soon as the wipers touch it
I love this stuff easy to apply and I think it does a fairly good job
Two different things??? one is a polish (link) this one is a sealant.
Any recommendations for a product to strip the existing wax and clean the car before the application of this?
Wash & dry, decontaminate, clay with rubber clay if needed, wash, polish if needed and then surface prep and then apply sealant if you want the best results.
Anyone have any idea if this stuff has PFAS? Seems like the sort of thing that would but I cant tell
This and graphene spray have been great!
Haven't had the time to contact wash the car since February, had one quick rinse at a pressure wash station to remove a lot of bird poop but surprisingly still beads well since February. Works better than seal and shine that was already pretty good before. Is it easy to apply for someone who does not have any experience. Wash car dry it and spray this and wipe it off?
This is good to hide scratches and haze on cars. It darkens the paint somewhat
This or Bowden's Bead Machine?
Bead Machine
On the back of the bottle, they say "Use HYBRID SOLUTIONS CERAMIC 3-IN-1 DETAILER and HYBRID SOLUTIONS CERAMIC WASH & WAX to maintain shine and protection".
Protection from what?
wash n wax adds a bit of wax back when washing vs just detergent, all waxes wash off over time, UV breaks down most products over time, and there some basic chemistry laws in what you can put in solution and what it bonds to, but lots of marketing with terms like ceramic, diamond, graphene, etc.
Why is ceramic better than wax?
True ceramic coatings last longer then wax in saying that this product has nothing to do with any real ceramic stuff it's only marketing done in the way to get people in since it's like ceramic effect to it and comparing it to a good quality wax it offers little no difference.
this product has nothing to do with any real ceramic stuff
The product is ceramic spray in a bottle. Are you saying no ceramic in it?
@freeb1e4me: it’s not going to form a ceramic layer that gives protection, ceramic particles are fairly inert and don’t bond at an ion level unless you have a lot of heat, they might as well add charlie sheens tiger blood , which was fruit juice, contained no tiger blood. the protection comes from waxes and polymers that bond to the clear coat which bond well at the ion level.
Thanks OP.
Any similar pricing elsewhere?
Trying to avoid using Amazon myself. Thanks
Can this be used to ‘maintain’ or ‘top up’ an existing ceramic coating (GYEON EVO)?
Use this instead if you have evo coating https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/gyeon-gyeon-wetcoat-seal…
I just coated my car with Gtechniq professional. Man it was a big job. I plan to use this one as the second coat…. :) Thanks.
Which microfibre towel to use to apply this?
i used this on my car and my shower screens lasts not long
