Not sure the Aldi online price is correct. Bought 1kg Dark Roast beans for $12.99 2 weeks ago IIRC - Fairfield Gardens Qld. There was a red tag for "price lowered" or such…

It's correct unfortunately. Bought the medium during the week and was shocked at the percentage increase.

It appears to be a trend with Aldi, they will jack prices on certain items for a couple of months then lower them to give the impression they are fighting inflation for customers.

    • +3

It's 17.99 for dark and 19.99 for medium at my local. Hadn't been there in a while and I too was quite shocked to see the price.

    • Id check your receipt. I've had a lot of problems with aldi stuff being put in the wrong location. That sounds like it might have been the 500g pack.

I knew the price was going up 3 months ago. Just looking at the coffee bean wholesale market, there's no way they could keep selling for that price. I bought a few extra but I didn't see the point in getting years worth as the quality declines with age

    • I don’t understand why coffee is still so expensive, even though coffee bean prices have stabilized in recent months!

  • Yep my local has the new prices for Aldi beans. Will give these a go. Thanks op

  • Mine is showing as out of stock. it has been out of stock for months :(

I've ordered Tlthe ground coffee a few times. Recently it arrives with the vaccum seal broken about half the time. Amazon reviews have similar stories.

    • I got one block that looked like it had a pen put into it. I went onto chat with Amazon and they gave me a refund without sending it back

    • +2

If the seal is broken, that's defective. I'd return it.

  • I like the Aldi medium roast using a Moka pot.

Which of the Harris beans would be most similar?

  • +3

How does the Harris coffee compare to the Aldi coffee?

  • Can anyone confirm these are freshly roasted when Amazon distribute them?

    • +1

At this price, no way. Likely roasted a few months ago.

  • I think it's 20 for medium and 15 for dark at my local aldi

    • +1

      $19.99 / Medium - $17.99/ Dark

  • Cannot endorse this when lime blue makes such amazing beans for a lick more

    • +6

Lick more? its almost double the price…

      • Not if you buy on their 40-50% off sales. The quality is worth the increased price (when on offer)

    • Great beans, though I'm not sure $31.50/kg (almost double) qualifies as just a lick more

      • I mean beans should last a month for a normal person.. apple crumble does sound nice tho

        • Are you a normal person?

        • +1

One normal scenario is a coffee twice a day for two people. That works out at 2 weeks for a 1kg bag of beans (@18g shots).

  • Great timing op,
Mine ran out and in time to try out this

  • If these were fresh beans and freshly roasted, at this price, they are losing money.

Unlikely to be fresh and freshly roasted. But it's aimed at a certain part of the market

    • How do you define fresh?

      • Roasted within 4 weeks

        • My medium roast had bb 20 May 2026, so roasted 7 weeks prior to my receiving it.

    • You're right, but it's not always so simple. I think most companies are working on set price contracts, so they can access the coffee beans at a cheap price up until that contract expires. Which would explain why the price stays low for ages, and then suddenly jumps

    • they are losing money

Do you have a rough break down of cost of goods sold and labour, retailer cut?

f'm interested from a business perspective.

Bag of the Harris strong beans arrived today (green label bag), and I just made a brew alongside a brew of the medium roast Aldi beans.

Comparing the pair, both are good, but I prefer the Harris. Just a tiny bit stronger, but still smooth. Just ordered another bag. Deal ends today.

    • Does it have the roast date on the bag like Aldi?
