Been waiting for fenix 8, tsskk. Looks like not going to happen even on prime sale

    • Me too.

  • Good deal, but be mindful that this watch doesn't utilise Garmin's newest code base. So just like how some of Garmin's flagship models became obsolete within 12-18 months, this one likely won't get a lot of attention from them in the future with regards to updates.

For anyone wanting to know more about Garmin's change in direction from their previous coding model to a centralised code base for all of their watches, you can read up on it here

The Instinct range were never the kind of watches that matched the rest of Garmin's offerings anyway. You can't use regular apps, nor would you want to, nor are regular updates necessary so long as the factory standard stuff continues working. For that reason the codebase being distinct was never really an issue.

Not sure if that post is correct. I got new feature on Epix month ago, "breathing variations".

Updates are still coming, but they've shifted focus to the new code base, so the updates won't be as frequent for the models that aren't running the new code. DC Rainmaker had some commentary on their change of direction and the product line up, but I can't remember which of his videos he mentioned it in.

Note that this was not just an update, but a new feature. People made this point before, about not getting features, just updates.
