    Any deals on coloured?

    • +29

You can't call them that anymore

Gone are the good days sir

  • Another deal im not allowed to get because i live out in whoop whoop :(

    • +4

Yep 3 things I wanted to order prime day, none will ship to my city. Has gotten a lot worse over the last two years. Understand it probs costs too much to ship here for free, but then give me the option to pay $20 or something otherwise prime membership is losing too much value.

      • +1

i dont live in regional but legit why cant u just pay for extra shipping

        L amazon for that lol

    • +3

Got my prime refunded for this reason along with continues prime benefits

    • There’s a reason the vast majority of the population chooses to live in larger cities.

Pity it does not FAX, only photostat.

    • +7

      Who uses fax in 2025?

      • +2

Medical businesses. Secure and immediately confirmed delivery compared to email!

        • +3

Sounds like the guy above you needs to get his fax right?

          • @montorola: I keep my older Brother multifunction with fax available at all time. TPG broadband's VOIP allows me to keep my phone number and fax away when needed, even though I have given up on my landline with Telstra. Fax doesn't get used frequently but when needed, it's so great to have.

      • Caution this is just wired printer unless you setup printer server which is pain in the X.

Google the toner price on ebay before buying to avoid surprises and regrets

    • +2

$73 including delivery for 3000 page compatible toner

bit less than 2.5c per page

      • +1

For $73 I can get 13,000 (compatible toner via inkstation) prints for my 2770DW

unsure why these cost so much more.. maybe they need hacked chips or something.. or just because it's a newer model.

    • These have aftermarket ones on eBay. Cheap cheap.

      • +2

        Check again :)
New brothers are not the same as old bros

        • The aftermarket ones for the new brothers have come down in price quite quickly. About $30 now if buying one unit. Still nowhere near the ~$14 that ones for the older models cost for a single unit, but the situation is a lot better now than it was a year ago and hopefully those prices will keep falling.

    • Tried using payto and changed back to cc. It removes 5% at that time

      • Just placed an order.

add and check out as usual the 5% discount should apply.

    Will officeworks price match it

    • officeworks pricematch depends on the day/manager. Just use the online jbhifi chat to save a wasted trip, its way easier and anywhere that has officeworks has jb.

    • Officeworks don’t sell the same model and don’t price match with codes or Amazon Prime!!

Beware Brother is also blocking third-party ink

    https://www.tomshardware.com/peripherals/printers/brother-ac…

    • Wow. I still have a Fuji xerox from 15 years ago, and I'm still running it on third party toner.

Why companies gotta do us dirty.

    • I thought this was illegal in Australia?

  • +2

Brother stuff seems to have good Linux support for anyone on the Great Migration of 2025.

I really want a new printer but i feel like I want the model with the feeder so you can scan and photocopy quickly. Finding a printer is so overwhelming….

Edit actually it might be the DCP-L2640DW

    • Officeworks Options
      L2800DW with single sided scanning.

Double sided scanning is this model: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/brother-mf…

      Both have double sided printing.

      • +1

Yeah that one but get it cheaper from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/Brother-MFC-L2880DW-Wireless-Laser…

        • Whats the difference in comparison to DCP-L2640DW found it… just fax capabilities it seems..

Ill get a lot more out of laser then ink right; my ink is like 10$ atm and lasts for ever… i see these are like 90$ but id assume ill get a crapload more out of it

          • +1

@Mintee: Very little difference other than the fax yeah, if you can get it cheaper then more power to you.

Absolutely, laser printers will almost always be cheaper per page and aren't as prone to dried up print heads or cartridges like inkjet. If you currently only pay $10 for ink though, maybe keep that - sounds cheap!

          • @Mintee: yeah $10 ink would be good

            • @AeymothSky: I have a very old DCP - 165…. but color not longer works on it; and i can only print on the 'fine' settings as I think the head allignment is out. So ink on it is $10; but its just getting a little too unusable.

      • I picked up a DCP-L2640DW at good guys for $210. I had $20 store credit expiring so i dont mind

Plugged it in and it just works i love it. One thing tho. Is there anyway to set up the scan button to scan straight away?

At the moment i need to press: scan, ADF (AUTO doc feeder), PC, File. Start

I Just want to press scan and start and have it all defaulted to scan into a folder on my network. Possible?

    • if you want double sided scanning via adf.. make sure it does 'single pass' scanning.. ie scans both sides at same time. faster, but more important, less chance of jamming up

  • +1

Hoping they add a colour multifunction to the deals before Prime Week ends.

    Need
    * Colour Printing
    * Automatic Duplexing
    * Scanner (preferably as a document feeder)

    Wants
    * Wifi Printing

  • Ive not had a printer before besides someone in my household having a really crap canon pixma one that hasnt had its ink replaced.

Im looking for something under $160 ideally?

And aftermarket ink being like $10-$20 will last me a year or two ? (Wouldn't need to print more than 365 pages in a year I reckon?)

Would like document scanning, wifi / ethernet stuff, laser? (is cheaper n last longer?)

any suggestions? I been eyeing the brother models but it seems these new ones aren't as much of a bargain as a few years ago. seems they discontinued old models?

    • Still brother is the best bargain now.

    • Brother laser is your best bet.
Their 1xxx series are cheapest you'll find, no scanner or screen (would recommend a model with screen for ease of use)

Otherwise the model in this deal or similar.
