  • not saying its a bargain or not, but its been around this mark for a month now.

Cheaper here assuming these both are generic brands. $56.

Those reviews look botted,no chance this thing is that good

  • +2

Can this really output 600w… my computer psu is 750w and way beefier and i ono this is GAN but still…

    • +1

Probably can out put the full 2400W as it fries you. Easily opened case, no separation between AC input and DC output.

  • +8

Jesus 600w through a no-name branded charger that looks similar to 100watt chargers. I'm sure those internals are "Top Quality Part, Make Machine Strong Long Time!"

    • I just read that in Russel Peter's voice

  • +2
    • Stick to "Heymix" chargers lol.

  • +3

Ever heard of the saying "poor man pays twice"….that's the situation with these cheapo generic chargers…sure they may work initially, but they are going to cost you more when they die and potentially kill your electronics plugged into them.

If you want a good price on reliable chargers, stick to something like ugreen & anker

    • +2

in this case poor man pays once whereby after he is killed in a house fire.

Come on not every cheap items are bargain. This is not

    • It's a bargain electrical fire hazard

  • For bargain hunters we sure are snobs when it comes to brand names.

    • It's less about being brand name, and more about getting our money's worth.

Buying a product like this that doesn't give you as advertised, and is a potential electrical and fire hazard is not a bargain, it's simply e-waste that can also damage your other belongings….what ends up looking like a bargain ends up being more costly than the named brands with good reputation.

That’s all speculation. Plenty of no-name chargers have proven to perform just as well, if not better, than some big-name alternatives. So, do you have solid evidence that this particular charger underperforms? Have you opened it up and examined the internal components? Can you point to any technical data or credible reviews that prove it’s a poor-quality product, or are you simply going with your gut / crowd?

I’m not claiming this charger is exceptional, or terrible. But let’s be honest: OzBargain often defaults to brand recognition over actual performance or value. Some of the best-value chargers on the market likely come from no-name brands on platforms like AliExpress, we just haven’t discovered them yet. Hunting for that charge would be the spirit of ozbargain.

It's not speculation, read the reviews, people have literally tested it and it doesn't perform as advertised.

Further to that someone else opened it up, see (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16723315/redir)[here]

If you want me to open it for you, no problem, buy me it and I'll open it up and show you how crappy it is. But if I were to buy it myself just to prove that I would literally be wasting my own money on something I hate.

Some of the best-value chargers on the market likely come from no-name brands

You tell me that you want evidence for my statements, I want you to show evidence for this one, go on, show me all the no name brand chargers you have purchased and opened up to see their quality is the same or better than the big brands. Further to that let's see you having done that on a larger sample base.

I work in procurement and deployment of tech at a large Aussie company, I deal with purchasing, testing and deploying thousands of end user compute related hardware (including chargers) all the time…IV seen the failure rate on generic chargers vs branded. If you want to waste your money on it then go to town, but as mentioned earlier, poor man pays twice, goodluck.

@whitepuma: Again, I’m not defending this specific product. There are mixed reviews, but that alone doesn’t tell us whether this particular charger is good or bad.

Also, the link you shared is to a different brand entirely. Cracking one open and calling it representative of all no-name chargers is like reviewing a Samsung and assuming all Androids are the same. That's not how sampling works.

I do find it ironic you’re asking for broad evidence, then relying on one teardown as proof. Today's word is: confirmation bias.

As for your “buy it for me and I’ll prove it’s trash” offer why in the world would I fund your experiment? You’re making the claim; the onus is on you.

And that last part confusing best value with best quality? They’re obviously not the same. I wish I had documented proof, but I try not to let personal bias lead me. If you actually read SmoothCactus’ posts, who has tested nearly every power bank out there, you’d know he consistently finds some of the best-value units come from lesser-known brands, often from Alibaba.

And finally… the closer. You thought dropping your IT job was your big mic drop? That was cute. Like, genuinely adorable. “I work in IT, therefore I know electronics”? C’mon. That’s like saying you work at a library, so you must’ve written half the books.

Let’s be real at best, it’s a glorified business admin degree with a side of ticket management.

You’re not doing complex circuit analysis. You’re not running load simulations. You’re not even touching basic calculus, let alone using imaginary numbers to model AC systems.

So yeah, cool story. But maybe leave the electrical engineering flex to the people who can actually read a Bode plot.

@SarcasticEmu: Ah I see, you got proven wrong, so then you go with the gish gallop technique.

Sorry, I'm not one for responding to that argument style, it's a bit like trying to catch confetti in a hurricane.

So I'll leave it with this, you don't have to touch every stove to know that some of them will burn you
But hey, if you want to play charger lottery with your wallet, be my guest. I'll continue to purchase from reputable brands

              • +1

@whitepuma: Look, I’m not here to win points, being right is clearly more important to you, so I’m totally fine saying I was wrong and letting you be right. Is that ok with you?
