Wow, ithat is both a rip-off and a bargain!

    • +2

      Schrodinger's deal

  • +5

    1-2 months wait..

  • +12

Yea in 1-2 months I'd say there would be a better deal

    • Not this good of a deal for sure.

      • Imagine what would RTX 9090 price be?

        • That is 7 years away. Why even worry about it. With where AI is going, dont know how many will have jobs, or UBI, or terminator scene. World is going too fast to speculate. My 3080Ti will be the last card. Its been a year since I gamed, probably will quit for good. Getting old anyway ;)

          • @John Doh: yeah, old people shouldn't play computer games :P

            • @illogicalerror: I guess some just lose interest in games as they age, some dont.

              • @John Doh: As long as I don't lose my sense of humour I'll be happy, I seriously do not want to be one of those old bastards yelling at people when they walk on the grass xD

                • @illogicalerror: Completely agree. My neigbour still moves a part of our lawn, so low, weeds start growing. I have told him not to, but he still does it. I guess he just thinks he is helping me, so I leave it at it. Its not the end of the world. He smiles, thats more important.

          • @John Doh: You will need to repurpose your 3080Ti, plus a farm of RTX 9090s to build your own AI Agents/army, to fight against the terminator scene. Hoping UBI can pay for that.

    • +1

You can always cancel as they wont charge you until shipping.

    • If there is a better deal, buy that and return this. Simple!

  • +3

Sounds like a bad idea to me, if you want to return it for whatever reason, faulty or in 1 - 2 months there is a better deal youre stuck with at least 2.7k worth of amazon gift cards

    • +8

amazon gift card is almost as good as cash. will always be another amazon deal to use it for lol

      • +10

I dont know what youre using 2.7k at amazon on but cant really buy the day to days unless all you eat is ramen lol.

        • +5

You probably shouldn't be looking at this post then

          • -5

@treater: Ive already got a 5090 but youd have to be pretty stupid to get 2.7k in gift cards how many things you spending 2.7k on every couple of months aka cashflow

            • +3

@RBZ10: Amazon credits don't expire, and they're not going bankrupt anytime soon.
on 2.7K being tied up, mWave customers who pre-ordered a 5090 have had their money tied up for 5+ months now.
              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/910854

A bit like IKEA, there's always something else people need/want from Amazon and they carry a sizable amount of stuff usually bought from Colesworth

              • -1

@payton: Well if you want potentially having to use 2.7k in credit go for it. For me id just wait a month, although i already got a 5090 from EU for cheaper so meh.

Feel free to keep trying to justify reducing your cashflow makes no diff to me lol

Re Mwave well that says nothing more than there a multiple stupid ppl out there.

            • +1

@RBZ10: I don't think its stupid. I agree with Jaduqimon, I buy all kinds of stuff. Over 100 orders on amazon a year. I ain't buying a 5090 if I don't have the spare money for it, but yeah if you don't spend money and are just forking out for a 5090 then fair enough. I've even had to get refunds from amazon and they give me gift card credit instead of refunding to my credit card, it all gets used eventually.

              • @treater: Theres a saying cash is king 😉

                • @RBZ10: yeah when you've gotta pay tax

                  • -2

@treater: This a paying ato with giftcard joke 🤪

    • +13

While I am sure these will come down in price eventually, saying "soon" has got to come with the biggest asterisk mark of the year

    • +5

That's unlikely to be true, for RTX 4090 the cheapest deal of all time in Australia was still higher than the US MSRP. That's Australia Tax for you

    • How soon?
      1 week? 1 month? 1 year? 3 years?

      • longer than 3 years id say… tqqq is living in a fantasy land inside his own head

    • Unless you know something about the US dollar that we dont id love to know how 2500 lol.

They launched around $3499 AUD in aus

  • -8

I need one of these… 44 M XXL dad bod sub to my OF to make a donation. Hairy toe picks to the first 100 subs.

Surely none of these actually sell though right?

  • +5

Who the hell is buying these cards?? Revoke your bargain livense please

    • Desperate gamers and businesses that need top AI performance on the cheap (relative to RTX Pro cards).

      • +1

people who can afford it. Believe it or not, some people clearly have more money than you to spend on their hobbies.

  • +3

    I didn't realise I was on oz-ripoff…

  • +3

    I think they've accidentally written a 3 instead of a 2

  • +4

That's a lot of work. Or just wait, price will go down.

  • While people keep paying these prices, companies will happily keep charging them

    • +3

The issue is you are not only competing against gamers but also companies, researchers and Crypto miners. When they can make profit $4000 is worth to buy.

      • How on earth is a crypto miner gonna profit on this

        • I don't know, I saw on previous 5090 deal someone bought this for mining.

          • @RichardF89: "No darling, I'm buying this for crypto only…..and the 600hz monitor is …to have a very high refresh rate when I'm mining and checking how much am making….." …..

      • +1

Exactly this. @pharkurnell what you are describing is a typical supply and demand. Its not just gamers, there will be researchers, data scientists, crypto miners, traders, programmers, companies, all after this, and from other countries too. I won't be surprised if these are getting exported (smuggled) out. AI is the new gold rush. I just spent 8.9k on a pc build just for this very reason. And I am thinking of adding another 5090 to my rig later when I have the money. Coz I can't afford the professional GPUs like RTX 6000. So these gaming GPUs are sweet deals. I won't be surprised if the prices on these don't go down as much as expected so soon.

        • the improvement in our dollar will settle it in the 3500/3600/3700 best case. won't go lower than that.

  • OOS

  • +3

Silly people paying silly prices for a mere graphics card that adds very little against its predecessors of similar wavelength.

  • Is anyone actually paying this price for a video card?

  • Oh wow OOS I'm 5 mins too late. Now WTF do I do with these gift cards?

    • +2

You could have placed the order then load up the GC later, because you can update the payment to use GC or nowadays, it will automatically use your GC balance once you loaded up later…

      • Thanks for your useful post. My comment was /s

    • Oh, sorry to hear that mate. I managed to buy it just in time, with all gift cards. Otherwise I will be sitting with 4k worth of cards too.

  • +1

Christ that price tag is disgusting.. Remember when top-end video cards never exceeded $600? Feels like a lifetime ago now.

    • +4

I agree 100%. At this rate 6090 might just be $6090 RRP.

    • +1

Memmmmmmoriessssssss light the corners of my mindddd

  • Just wondering how to pay over $2000 on Amazon? Isn't the debt card only allow $2k per online transaction?

  • it wont drop as much as some people say, but it will drop a little before it plateaus. I would say 3800-3600 will be the cheapest.

    • The lowest drop below retail in EU has been 9% for 5090, that would give a price of AU$3675 if it were to happen here.

      • sounds about right. I think we could end up seeing that price occasionally

  • "X3" I thought it was for three RTX 5090 cards…….
