Unbelievable. I bought the Pixel 9 Pro 5G 256GB from JB-Hifi for $1194.44 a couple of weeks ago and now the Pixel 9 Pro XL 5G 256GB is $998.00.
How about using the Ozbargain way to get it on plan? Would it be even cheaper?
I paid 780$ theOZbargainer way :). Storecash credit, discounted gift cards and a voucher that just came today. Lucky
Has it been more than 2 weeks? If not you may be able to get the price difference refunded.
Unfortunately they bought the non-xl version
:(
Pixel 10 is coming apparently
No way! Next thing you'll tell me is that there's going to be a Galaxy S26!
And so is Christmas.
20th of August.
So is Winter.
There's always one……..
What do you mean apparently?
I think he means as the pixel 10 is coming, shops are clearing their exisiting stock for a sharper price
Respectfully, no shit? I'm pretty sure everyone here knows that these are pre new model sales. That's like if on September you said the new iPhones are coming soon or in January that the new Galaxies are coming soon..
$888 with price beat now.
TopCashback had 18% cash back this week would have been nice to have that now
I have a fold 6 and have no use for this but i want it

Not sure about 10% but Macquarie bank has 4% off TGG gift cards and lets you buy custom amounts
Holding for pixel 10 pro release deals
Glad that I have sold my used one for $1000 two weeks ago.
Not a bad phone aside from the slow processor.
Slow processor? How can that be? It's a current flagship phone.
It is. Just not capable of managing large image/video files.
Otherwise, the phone is perfect.
You should have got the PRO XL INLFUENZER version for editing 4k video on the fly.
@stealth: Resizing and trimming. Kids run fast and a higher resolution image allows for some buffer.
No idea why replies are so stirred by merely stating the process is slow and no good for large media files.
Frankly, a 50mp image on a phone is inferior to a 24mp imagine from the old trusted D610 that I should with.
@SetTheFaqUp: Now I understand! Kids pics.
I know about kiddie piccies. It's the ones that you never look at again.
To be fair if the phone advertises such crazy tech it should be able to keep up.
@SetTheFaqUp: The sensor size so so small on the phone so the D610 (Which is a wonderful camera) should definitely be better.
@Naigrabzo: For sure. Phones are more handy.
I initially replaced the s23 ultra with the pixel 9 pro due to a much smaller size and expect it to perform the same.
Was well and fine until it lags on 50mp images. Otherwise a perfect phone. I hate going back to a Samsung (S25 ultra), but it's a better phone for my use case.
Yes. Sensor size rules, when it comes to image quality. Despite the kit that I have is close to 10 years old ($7k worth back when first purchased), will blow any modern phones for photo shooting.
@SetTheFaqUp: Yeah same. My Canon 80D is still chugging along. But now I realise I never look at my 30k of nice images that I took with it. With that, I have stopped. :)
@Naigrabzo: I do. Still got some brilliant images from the old 5DII blown up canvas prints displayed on walls at home. Days of carrying close to 10kg camera years roaming in hot n humid Cambodia, extensive bushwalk in Australia national parks, to freezing cold weather in French regional winery towns.
So, a phone is not comparable and Samsung sxx ultra is the next best thing from a real camera.
Pixel 9 Pro was close and the form factor that I was after. Just a little bit disappointed with its CPU on more CPU intense tasks.
Edit - no, didnnt whinge to Google. Sold it for what o have bought the phone for, can't complain.
@Arch9896: Too long ago. Cant remember the exact cost.
I recall the body was mid $1k, lenses were 2-3k each. Only got three lenses left, a 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 and a wide lens for architectures.
@SetTheFaqUp: To be fair no phone these can do good quality and instant 50mp photos, phones rely on post processing to get a decent image which is why the default is always a lower mp but instant and great quality photo with the option of bumping up the mp at the cost of speed because it takes longer to process.
It's dumb to compare it to a lower mp DSLR camera to your higher mp phone it's two very different things. It's like complaining how your motorbike needs to refueled regularly to function where as your mountain bike doesn't need to be…just sounds stupid.
@alteyez: No intention of replacing a proper camera with a phone, and well understood that MP pixel count and image quality (sensor and processing) are not remotely comparable. I have been using a camera for that many years to understand these very basic facts.
Didnt expect a rant on P9P's process speed to have morphed into this long winded discussion (and some seems to have something against a 50MP image).
Personally, I take images at the sensors native pixel count and resize it to something smaller when post processing via LR. Image enhancement on the phone is mostly switched off where possible.
Only 128 gb option though.
Damn, wish the S25 ultra was this price without the subscription dramas.
It's a much better phone, so no way lol
Isn't the Tensor G5 in Pixel 10 in August based on TSMC going to be a big upgrade in terms of efficiency etc?
Yep.
I've got $30 off voucher for $100 spend. check your sms.
is yours an in store only voucher?
I tried applying it on checkout but didn't work for me. Maybe doesn't stack with price beat offer.
In store only. I just used it, along with 4% discounted gift cards, bringing the total down to $823.68.
*Facepalm - how did I miss this capitalised part of the message xD
From The Good Guys Just for you! Here's a Door Buster Deals $30 voucher to use IN STORE ONLY on an eligible purchase over $100. Only 1 offer per person. Expires 27/7/25!
But then no cashrewards which is a better saving
So, in store, they’re actually happy to match $888, then we can use the $30 voucher to bring it to $858?
I hate that it's 2025 and yet 128GB is still the lowest amount of storage available.
Apple would say 64GB and 8GB are enough. Not sure if now.
Android OS now takes upto 30 GB of space. 64 GB is what would be half of 128 GB. Not viable.
Surely people won't pay near RRP for android phones again. Within 9 months they are 40% off.
Has always been the case. Trouble is who wants to buy a pixel 9 when the pixel 10 is better? /s. Plenty of people completely disregard previous year models when buying tech.
Maybe if you want to spend under $900 rather than around $1,700 for a phone that will be barely any different.
I think a lot of people figure they are already putting down do much money for a phone that they'll just put down some more to get the latest and greatest. Then they are the life of the party for having the "new" phone.
The rest of us will just buy 11 month old phones cheaply
@serpserpserp: No one on ozbargain pays RRP for an android phone. It was in the ball park of $1000 net cost at launch.
August 20 is about a month away to clear the old stock.
Guys, just wondering is this the first time that retailers have aggressively been selling a Google Pixel to clear them?
No, they do this every year just before the new one comes out
Nah, they have a history of deep discounts especially when they're clearing older stock or bundled with telco plans
normal, grabbed my last 7 pro at a huge discount due to clearance for the 8
do they price match this instore as well? or only online?
Price match online and pick up in store
Finally caved and bought one. Thanks OP
Wow good price.
Made an account just to comment my experience with the pixel 9 pro xl. Was great until the latest android update. I only have had the phone since may and prior to the update everything worked well and battery was pretty good lasting almost two days with my usage. After the update battery is a bit shitter and is ending the day on 20%. Heaps of my apps are having problems (accessing the internet? I'll be able to use chrome and am typing this on the pixel but apps like plugshare, spotify, banking, domain ect are not able to retrieve data quickly or at all) and android auto now disconnects randomly. All in all pretty shit experience
I guess that's one of the pro of Samsung and the like being a year behind on the OS updates, they have an extra year to test.
So that's also a con of having the latest OS with Pixel, you get an OS first but like Microsoft, Google doesn't test very thoroughly.
Haha yeah I have a pixel 6 Pro but I always wait a couple months before doing any updates. Good to have the option, just don't hit that update button for a couple months lol
Strategy only works if you monitor user reports and avoid the bad months, there are always some bugs
Is 128gb enough without expandable storage these days? How much does the system use and what is left for the user?
If you play AAA mobile games like cod, genshin etc. and record lots of high quality videos, seriously consider the 256GB as your baseline. Otherwise 128GB should be enough for standard usage.
No games just adhoc pics and videos
If you find yourself recording a good amount of videos - 256GB will offer better convenience in the long run.
Bought, great deal. It comes down to $848 if you have discounted giftcards through BUPA rewards
Could not get an account to work on their site. Both my existing and a new one get stuck in a loop after using the verification code. Dumb.
Anyway, bought one without signing in. Got 4% cashback (~$35) from Cashrewards too.
Thanks OP
How did you buy without signing in? I am unable to access gift card purchase without signing in?
I didn't use gift card
Cheaper at Harvey Norman. $898
