Do you get an of these with Iris onboard graphics? And cheap lol

  • Any wifi? If no cost to upgrade?

I feel like this should be sub 250 at least.. I know it's a full 9600, not a T model, so there's some performance you're getting here you won't from the T models, but it's a 7 year old CPU at this point. Should def also have wifi built in for close to 300.

I realise it'll run circles around those mini PCs and their N150s but for daily office jobs, they're cheaper, and use less power (and smaller, which is a funny thing to say comparing a Micro optiplex heh).

These unit excel at being proxmox/docker/vm boxes, though. (That's what I'm using my 8500t model for currently).

I think may because 9xxx series officially support Win11, agreed price too high.

8000 does too, and it's been more around ~200 mark with 16GB ram variants. Though usually with the T model 6 core vs full fledged.

9500/9500t models were $213 not long ago. Up to $250 now.

I also set up one as a proxmox/opnsense/docker/vm box.

It also had wifi card INCLUDED but I swapped it out for second NIC

      • Oooo much better deal, yeah

Oh. Even now with ebay plus code yeah 250 is a better deal than this post.. And as you said has wifi.

I got this exact Micro 7070 for $150 off FB - dude had like 50 of them. Probably the EoFY gov replacement.

      • Or the Thinkstation 330p 9400 models for $201 6 months ago. Superior in some ways.

The architecture is based on the skylake architecture which goes back to 6th gen, the i5 8600 used in the 7060 is pretty much the exact same processor, same base speed and 300mhz slower boost speed. If you find a 7060 with the 8600 for cheaper I'd go for that.

Didn't you post this a couple of days ago?

Also this isn't a deal at that price IMO.

  • +7

    not a great price

    • +2

Deals were close to $200 before

    Bit steep

    @Calmago can you do better?

  • +6

Not a good price. Would rather wait for a proper deal.

  • what is the difference between these and something like this https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005007003451686.html

N100/150 are efficient chips. Super low power and small. But they're a fair bit slower than the 6 cores in the 8/9000 series Intel.

For office use and grandma grandpas pc the n100s are probably a better choice. (newer chips too so in theory longer windows support if that's what you're going for)

  • Out of curiosity, how would something like this go at handling very heavily modded minecraft serves for 2-4 people? Would it be powerful enough to handle things like the latest ftb packs, or would I need something a bit beefier? Of course I can add more ram if need be, but not sure about the CPU?

    • How long is a piece of string?

Better to check existing builds for heavily modded servers. MC can get pretty intense with enough packs.

Mildly modded ran fine for us (one of those like, premade here's a punch of mod packs, packs) on one of these (8500t*) but YMMV.

      • Interesting - wasn't aware there was much of a different between the options - just thought the more mods the more power! But that's easy enough, I'll do some digging into what I can find, thanks

        • I mean. Functionally, yeah. More ram more cpu for hosting the better. But there will also then be like networking and port forwarding considerations too. Also number of players is actually probably your biggest consideration.

The more players, and especially the more exploring in opposite directions, minecraft tends to chug when multiple online players are thousands of chunks apart at least in my experience.

@ReaperX22: Yeah, I've got a NAS that worked ok for vanilla, but as soon as I tried running a very light modpack on, it wouldn't have a good time when we went exploring, and every 5ish minutes or so the server would lag. I've now got it running through my plex machine which is more powerful, and it works for this light modpack we're playing, but I have a sneaking suspicion that once we get to something heavier, it won't keep up as much either. I guess we'll see how it handles it once we start the new pack!

    • Well that of course depends on how much dedotated wam you want to add to the server

  • intel NUC is better

Exactly the same model from ACT @ eBay for $254.15 (after 15% off coupon)?

    • yep, I pinged ACT rep @Calmago

To be picky. 9500 and 9600 are technically different…

100mhz base higher, 200mhz boost. But functionally, not really worth any price premium.

(I'd Def buy the 9500 to save 30 bucks and grab another ram stick instead kinda thing)

    • Thanks, I ended up with this. 17% for ebay plus via WSJUL17 means that it was $248.17
