Another $40 off at 4pm via ShopBack Cashback

    • It remains to be seen if price jacking occurs.

      • +23

We won't be jacking off up the pricing of these units.

        • Hi Calmago, do you have any deal on A grade refurbished latop to go with the current ebay sale?

          • @bargainfinder: They do, surface pro 7 8gb ram 128gb $277.68, and cheaper with the ShopBack Cashback. Seems like a great price if you don’t mind only 128gb: https://ebay.us/m/AQDsgn

          • @bargainfinder: Most likley not with the eBay sale, but will have something end of this week or next week.

            • @Calmago: Will that be a surface pro 7+?

              • @ozvictor: Looks like this Friday we will do a Surface Laptop 3 i7 deal.

Don't forget TCB for a further 3% off bringing it down to $212.62 and $207.31 respectively.

or wait 3 hours and get it as low as $173.72

    • Thank you, did not see this! That's a killer deal.

    • ineligible with those ebay codes unfortunately

      • Yep, they found a way to make the offer worse. Shopback Birthday Bash disappointments yet again.

0.3% on computers (1.3% with shopback plus)

Still get the 10% ($20 cap) if you pay with an eligible linked card so that's something.

Got my 9500t two weeks ago and have added a 2.5gbe nic for a proxmox/opnsense build.

Neatly mounted in a 3d printed 10" mini rack

    • Where did you get the 2.5gbe nic for it?

    • Welp, thanks for this. Now I have a lot of printing to do. Love the set up with cloud gateway fiber and the jetkvm’s and the mini pc. Essentially what I want, Alamos exactly…

      • +1

        I made 2, rather than a taller 10u one.

    • Would it be possible to check if yours has 3x video out? I'm trying to decipher the specs and it looks like it does, but through usb.

      • +1

It has 2x display port from the motherboard and it also had another display port via a ribbon cable.

I had to remove it to mount my extra nic. (Not the slot used but the backplate)

        • Nice! That sounds perfect. Thanks for replying.

  • Is this any good for hooking up to a TV and running as a media player/centre? I'm used to the Android environment, but can switch if Windows/Linux can offer a similar alternative

    • +1

I have a similar machine as a server running Plex, jellyfin, cameras. Everything runs fine but I play to tv using Nvidia shield

      • That's not a bad idea either - I've got an old raspberry pi set up as a NAS, but it's definitely not fast enough to stream high quality video. Something like this would be a hell of a lot faster

        • fat mike you could use this as your plex/emby/jfin host and buy a shield (it runs on android) for your tv

edit: sorry old mate already said that, me read good

      • What? You only need Nvidia shield Pro, doesn't need any other box to run Plex.

        • wut

          • @leeroys_dad: They're saying that the shield pro is able to be run as a (not great) Plex host. So you don't technically need another system.

            • @NigelTufnel: Ah I see, good to know! Although Shield Pro is about double the price of this Dell!

I've actually got a bunch of other things running on my server and I've actually decommed Plex and now run Jellyfin with reverse proxy

              • @leeroys_dad: Yeah, my 2 shields got busted by a storm recently. Haven't been able to justify the price of a new one. Stupid expensive now.

              • @leeroys_dad: They are expensive, but they work well for direct use without transcoding. I've been using one for years without any issues, with less power usage than Dell.

    • +1

It's display port only, your gonna need an adapter for HDMI unless TVs come with DP these days

    • +1

Possibly pick up a cheaper micro pc (N97/N100) for that

  • So good for any kids just wanting to play Roblox without breaking the bank

    • +2

I'm thinking a ROM box for N64 games on the TV.

      • +2

I did this with one of mine. It can play up to PS2 quiet easily. I installed Batocera as the OS. This Guide is what I followed.

  • Any reasonable and affordable monitor to go with this? Thanks.

  • Anything around this form factor that supports a half height PCIe card? I think some Lenovos do?

I want to add a Blackmagic capture card.

  • Very tempting but I'm a HP Prodesk fan

  • +2

    I don't need it… I don't need it…

    • Yeah that's me as well. Only one M.2 slot by the looks.
I have had Dells like this die in the past so passing on this one (they were 7050s though)
      Very tempting though

    • Do it… do it…

  • +1

Is this overkill for Home Assistant?

    • Very much, so so overkill.

    • Yes, but you have heaps of headroom to run other services

Proxmox as hypervisor, HA vm, and other LXCs

      • adguard
      • ….
      • I have TrueNAS server and used to run Home Assistant as a CM there. After upgrading the VMs are not working as expected and giving me lots of problems. All other wervices are working fine on TrueNAS. I have moved my Home Assistant to a RPi but I am not happy with it, so thinking of having a dedicated system just for HA.

        • +5

Check out the Dell WYSE 5070

Its a thin client that a lot of people recommend for running home assistant on. Very low power consumption, and half the price of a newer N150 build.

          • @outlander: This.
I got one when it was $70 (4GB RAM). The system idled at 4W with Proxmox running Pihole and few other light containers. It even has an USB-C port that supports video out.
My only complaint: its 2280 slot only does SATA, not nvme.

            • +1

@pn: you can get adapter off Aliexpress to use nvme or msata on its wifi interface. I extract the samsung evo 860 ssd out and use one of those adapters on mine.

      • This is the way.

    • I run HAOS in one VM, Plex in another and everything else in a 3rd VM via Proxmox

    • Depends. If you're recording some home cams, throwing on plex, and doing licence plate recognition to open the garage while running a local radio scanner…n…noooo?

      • Already have my server for those services 😂
I want something solely for Home Assistant

  • +1

My work was upgrading everyone to laptops so I grabbed a few for a these for a very good price, Just to mess around I decided to get a NVME to PCIE 16x slot adapter and put a GTX 1080 onto it Something like this. It worked pretty well but now I just use it as a Plex/Game hosting server with external storage connected.

Just putting it out there for anyone is wondering what they can do with this.

    • That's the MFF, this is the Micro one.

      • Okay and what's the difference? What I linked and what's in the ebay listing is the same exact machine.

      • MFF = Micro Form Factor

      • They are the same mate.

  • -1

It says I have to be an eBay plus customer to add the code

    • Use JUNEOFY20 for non-ebay plus member

  • +1

Thanks OP got this with Shopback. Hopefully, I will get my cashback approved for ~$40

    • Shopback altered the terms to not allow the code, so it will be interesting to see if yours tracks

      • I will find out soon. Nevertheless its still a good deal with the eofy code.

  • +1

9500 (non t) in a micro pc makes for such a versatile little thing.

I have 3 of them for office use, upgraded to 32gb ram and they handle most things my staff use them for and can be mounted discretely.

Tempted to buy another one but don’t have an immediate use for it.

I ended up getting a Minisforum HX99G for cheap off FB Marketplace in the states a few weeks ago for my kids otherwise I would’ve tried to adapt one of these for low level kids gaming.

    • You won't be able to adapt this, no way of putting a pcie card.

    • Looking at grabbing one. Want to run plex and frigate. Would you go 9500 or 9500t for 24/7 usage?

      • 9500t

Important update: (4pm 9 Jun) usage of JUNEOFY codes will not qualify for the upsized 10% Cashback.

  • voucher does not work for me..

    • same, unfortunately. :(

      • Make sure there's no space at the end of it when you copy/paste it

And if you don't have ebay plus, you need to use JUNEOFY20

      • I was able to use voucher if I opened another browser and logged in as guest not with my ebay account. Just ordered now…

  • +1

109 units sold since you made this post

    • In typical ozbargain fashion ;)

  • Whats the difference with Gmktek N97 ? I meant, I would only use it for internet, tax return, view photos, office docs. To replace my 12 yrs old PC due to unusable for Win11. I would prefer a PC that hopefully can last more than 12 years like my Dell XPS 8700 and not getting too much slow due to windows updates.
My monitor is using hdmi input, if that helps.
    Thanks in advance.

  • out of stock

  • and it's gone :P

  • Yep so I missed out but would this have made a decent Plex box given the form factor? I have a couple hard drives I'd want to throw in. Any other good deals for that purpose?

    • +1

Be nice to get a 10/11th gen for $250 with 64gb ram headroom
      Can be wishful

    • This formfactor isn't ideal since it has no space for 3.5" drives.

Get a NAS case and N100 itx board
      Something like a Jonsbo N3

Or prebuilts like the Aoostar units

      • I added 4 drive bays via a M.2 to Mini SAS on my HP Elite ProDesk G5 using my old HP N54L drive bays
You can also plug in a DAS to it
Can you get a Jonsbo N3 setup for less than $300 with all components?
You could only run a NAS with the N100, VM's wouldn't really work well on that setup
Depends on your use case but NAS and Home Assistant that would be ok

      • Would something like this be good value? I'd just want to chuck in a couple of hard drives for Plex and run Win 11 and use it as a day to day machine as well.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/186198522597?itmmeta=01JXEM0803A…

  • Would something like this do for an at home office PC?

    • Yes, but now out of stock

    • More than adequate. I'm using a i5 6500T with 8GB and it's doing everything I need.

  • +5

Have about 300 more that will trickle online though the week.

Plenty of the T version available too

    • Any good deal monitor?

  • Has anyone hooked one of these up to a DAS? It has a 10gbit USB 3.1 Gen2 port.

    • +1

I considered it but popular opinion seems to be that running a USB DAS isn't super reliable, maybe better on USB 3.2 gen 2.

      • That's what this has, USB 3.1 Gen2 = USB 3.2 Gen2x1. They screwed with everyone by changing the names a while back. I saw a youtube video a while back on it but can't remember the video, they were talking it up with some cheaper DAS options that supported the 3.2 Gen2.

        USB 3.2 Gen2x2 = 20Gbps

        • Whaaat those are the same thing!? I may reconsider doing this then if the USB DAS is more likely to be stable/reliable…

          • @sssx: @sssx @Hank Scorpion

USB DAS can absolutely be reliable, but you need to buy one that actually works properly.

TerraMaster D6-320 https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/hard-drives-&-ssds/enclo… is great, there are various threads around about these, but bear in mind that MOST other units have issues.

            • @Nom: @Nom I was originally considering the TerraMaster D4-320 - know if it's considered as reliable as the D6-320?

              • @sssx: Not sure, sorry, I'm only familiar with the D6-320 specifically.
