Not sure why the first image in the Amazon listing showed only 1 USB C port - the rest of the listing images and description claimed that this mini PC should come with 2 USB C ports (1x USB4 8K@60Hz & 1x USB C 4K@60Hz).

This is possibly a(n unconfirmed) rebrand of the BOSGAME M4NEO which is currently available for ~$748.30 ~$664.30 on Amazon AU (with 30% off coupon).

Edit 23 Jul: The original price of the M4NEO has dropped from $1069 to $949 while the 30% off coupon is still active, and the resulting price of $664.30 is certainly much better than $699 for the Reatan A6! Credit to @bamzero for pointing this out.

Do note that this is not quite as good as previous mini PC deals with 780M graphics - just thought the value is good enough to make another post.

  • Tried to find the actual number of usb-c ports. Reatan's own website does not have specs on A6.

    • Oculink is missing?

      • Yes, and it’s USD plus GST making it much more!

I unpublished in case anyone bought in error.

You are the model OzB commenter that all other users should try to emulate.

@Bedgrub: Finally some appreciation for all my efforts around here!!

Bought this on prime day for around $630, is a great proxmox box. I think I am going to have to throw some more RAM in it though ;)

Only thing I had an issue with was that it did not see the Fikwot 2tb NVME I grabbed at the same time.

    • The nics work with proxmox?

      • I'm using realtec nics with opnsense

Damn, missed a good deal! Didn't really need an eGPU though so I'm content with my Alloy 9.

If you have a 20V 5A (100W) USB C charger or power bank lying around, is there any chance you can test your Reatan A6 unit to see if it can be powered via USB C without using the included barrel jack charger?

      • +1

        @anonym
You can power mini PCs with USB C - the power input is just a standard DC barrel - use one of these https://www.amazon.com.au/Cablecc-Female-5-52-1mm-Charge-Lap… (obviously you need to match the voltage and the barrel size, but these trigger adaptors come in every possible variation - that link is a 65W 20v unit but you'll need a 12v for some mini PCs, and sometimes a 100W unit).

        • Yeah, but matching barrel jack size and voltage gets annoying and now you have the problem of collecting more and more USB C to barrel jack adapters/converters that doesn't really do anything else apart from that one specific purpose. I'd much prefer to have everything powered with USB C directly 😁

    • Just out of interest, what are you running in your Proxmox box?

      • For me,
        Pfsense
        Home assistant
        Pi-hole
        Docker running Frigate for HA

    • Does iGPU pass through work ok?

      • +1

Yes. But i try and use LXC when i can, so i dont need to dedicate the whole GPU to a VM

  • Robtech says cons are:

    • No USB-C PD
    • No RAM cooling
    • Runs hot under load
    • Fan noise under load

He wasn't testing wireless and Bluetooth range at the time but I wouldn't be surprised if it is poor. Check for yourself elsewhere if relevant.

      USB4 Type-C (8K@60Hz) and full-function USB-C (PD3.0/DP) enable high-speed data, display, and charging.

Take a screenshot of the product description and web archive it if need be - it's easy to return via Amazon if the product is not as advertised!

This is kinda unexpected because the Reatan Alloy 9 from last deal has PD as claimed in the product listing and it works pretty well out of the box.

      No USB-C PD
      No RAM cooling
      Runs hot under load
      Fan noise under load

Can confirm the no RAM cooling, not sure about temps cause I haven't looked but also yes, fan is pretty annoying.

None of the USB ports are labeled as PD, but will see if I can confirm for people that are interested.

Wow you get a lot of bang for buck on these mini PCs.

    • They can compromise on a few things notably heat and so their fans crank up. Its an athlon hairdryer experience

      • why do i feel like these have better cooling than laptop tho

        • +1

If it is feasible leave it opened up.

I like that these have 2x 2.5gbps NICs. I'd love something at a lower price point that had that, as well as gpu and drivers suitable for jellyfin, and space for 3.5" hdd ideally.

          • +1

@Bargainer99: M.2 to 2.5Gb NIC adaptors are readily available - you can add the second NIC to just about anything with an M.2 slot.

      • +1

Tbh I don’t mind modern cpus getting hot - they’re designed for it.

There is no harm is reducing the fan speeds as they will just shut themselves down before getting damaged.

        Let them burn I say.

Do note that this is not quite as good as previous mini PC deals with 780M graphics - just thought the value is good enough to make another post.

Here is origimagic Oculink Gaming Mini PC ORIGIMAGIC A1 AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS (up to 5.1 GHz, 16MB L3 Cache), Windows 11 Pro Mini PC 32GB DDR5 RAM and 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe4.0x4 SSD. WiFi 6E, BT 5.2, USB4, Oculink

Description says it has 780M graphics and with coupon it's $699 too.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0FF48CZW2

    • Huh, somehow I didn't think to check ORIGIMAGIC today. This only has 1 LAN and 1 USB4 port though so less options/utility, but it might come in a more compact form factor.

      • 2 LAN is good for a firewall/router but you won't use 780M in that so would just draw more idle power.

1 LAN is okay for using it as a light gaming desktop.

You are right only 1 USB4 but you can plug a dock into it for more ports if nothing you connect warrants the full bandwidth.

  • Maybe starting price changed but I'm seeing $664.30 after 30% voucher for the M4NEO.

    • Yeah, original price seems to have dropped from $1069 to $949 while the 30% off voucher is still available. Now this is much better value than the Reatan A6!
