The mesh one is probably better as it's better ventilated. Likely this one isn't selling well.

I mean really, I had trouble selling my mesh one at $80 years back. Can't even remember if I gave up. So $200… Meh.

Wife bought a version off AliExpress for around the $50 mark. Went into Baby Bunting and compared the Ali version to the display model and couldnt tell any tangible difference in quality, fit and finish. If you cant justify the high price for these carriers, Ali Express is worth a look in.

I wouldn't trust putting my baby in an aliexpress carrier.

or from Amazon AU. They could be fake/counterfeit. I'd recommend buying from Baby Bunting or Ergobaby directly when on sale.

        • Why would Amazon AU be selling fakes? I understand potentially if its a third party seller… But Amazon AU?

          • +2

@cruiserbruiser: Yes, that’s correct and just to add, Ergobaby isn’t an authorised seller on Amazon AU, so unfortunately, counterfeits are a known issue.

Amazon uses a commingled inventory system, meaning identical products from different sellers (legit or not) are all stored together by SKU. Even if it says “Sold and Shipped by Amazon AU,” there’s no guarantee the product came from a trusted source, because Amazon doesn’t buy directly from brands like Ergobaby, they rely on third-party suppliers.

Once items are in Amazon’s warehouse, traceability is basically lost. If even one supplier sends in fakes, they can get mixed with the real ones and shipped out without anyone knowing.

Don’t get me wrong, I buy from Amazon all the time. But when it comes to something like a baby carrier, I don’t take the risk. Ergobaby counterfeits are well-documented, and I’d rather buy directly or through an authorised retailer.
