A great price for a quality ratchet spanner set.
Awesome deal, $230 elsewhere plus free postage

Was about the say the same thing. I bought a set last time and they have been great. Very durable.
20-24mm ratcheting spanners make this an absolute bargain! Such a rarity.
Missing 23mm? why is that?
Not a common large bolt/nut size.
Imagine buying this set thinking that you are well covered, then the one time you needed it is a 23mm and it is not there.
I actually bought a 23mm not long ago because it's missing from the toolset: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/14216/123021/spanner.p…
Lol why the down votes? This happened to me. There's one part of the steering rack which was 23mm.
thats so disappointing. I use 23mm a lot. would have preferred they drop the 9mm or 11mm instead.
Very tempting but… are these mainly for working with cars?
Not always, can be used for anything for a nut/bolt. I used them when removing bolts from an old set of stairs the other day.
for working on anything, if it’s a bike you use smaller sizes, cars use the bigger sizes. gets trickier with socket sets, 1/4” for bikes, 3/8 for small to medium cars, 1/2” for larger cars and 4wd. at $99 it’s what they charge for smaller sets e.g only to 19mm.
Thanks folks I'm in
Just what i was looking for. And got $20 back on $100 spend with Commbank Yello.
Yello shows me $10 for spending $100 at Total Tools, not $20?
Yello shows me sweet all!
Targeted i suppose. I really wasnt expecting to use the offer until this deal popped up!
bought this recently from amazon for $26, but was missing 4 spanners. might return them and grab this instead
You'd pay $73 for 4 spanners?
annoyingly, it's missing the ones I'd probably use the most (8 and 10mm). also missing 9 and 24mm. but you're right- I came to my senses and contacted amazon- was offered a full refund and could keep the spanners. was also told they'd contact me when back in stock and I could buy it again at the price I originally paid.
Don't need it but want it anyway
Working with cars, would I get more use out of these or a set with a flex head?
For DIY on cars including SUVs, the best sets IMO are:
I wouldn't waste money on these. I have a Gearwrench set like this but only goes up to 19mm. I've had it for at least 5 years, never used them.
Edit: actually just found it in my purchase history, this is the one I have https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0002NYD1C?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_f…, it's been 7 years.
This set would be useful if you are doing the suspension where you need a pair of tool to fasten the bolt and nut especially the bushings.
That shitty plastic case they give you for $230 RRP…
Yes, yes agree totally! I put them in a roll off ebay or amazon
Got a link? TIA
Been looking for a good roll. Got a link?
Have this set but getting another. Two car toolboxes and they're never in the right one. Absolutely solid set of spanners!
What makes this an especially good deal, is the fact that I'm pretty sure the store they're price matching is actually selling this set as "incomplete", with about half of the spanners missing. Winning!
Is it really a deal for $99? I bought Aldi set for, I guess $15-$17 and that is going good for last 8-10 years. Ofcourse for normal house usage. I am not a tradie.
If you are not a tradie then don't just buy every single drill and attachment just because it's on ozbargain hahahaha, I don't know why there are so tradies all of a sudden wanting bargain tools with every single attachment one could ever dream of and then leave it in the basement for storage purposes, just because they may need it in the future for some odds and ends.
If Aldi really sold a 16 piece metric ratcheting spanner set for $15-$17, and it's not rounded off any heads or broken in 10 years of use, you got an amazing deal.
it's hit n miss. I have a set of these and they're pretty reliable. I have another set at work and the 13mm, the one I use the most has failed. This set wasn't as cheap as Aldi, but it also was kind of mid priced. Maybe luck or maybe just because it was used heaps. If it was just household stuff then I would prob stick with lower quality/price unless you appreciate nicer tools….diminishing returns
what failed, the ratchet ring end ? Fine print on their web site is that the ratchet end is for light use, and the open end is if nuts are tight to undo or final tightening. These aren’t a replacement for non-ratcheting ring spanners, more to complement once nuts have been loosened.
Pretty sure I have that Aldi set, and it's only a 5-piece set that goes up to 17mm, and it misses a few common sizes. It's basically useless for working on cars which is mostly my use case.
I dont know about Aldi, but this is a 5 degree swing 72 tooth ratchet, most cheap ratchets work very slowly in tight spaces.
I thought the recent Gearwrench 12pce set I bought recently for $69 was a great buy. Should have waited.
wow ozbargainers buying more tools to match their shiny new drills and 64 piece sets hahaha collect 'em all!
Nice. Thanks. I remember getting the Gearwrench 111-piece kit from Bunnings and it is great. I grabbed a couple of sets, one as a gift
Would be doubly great if they were flex head, in situations where a ratched spanner comes in handy I find a flex head would be even better
Na, you need an offset with ring spanners. Straight ones like this aren't anywhere near as handy.
Same price at Sydney Tools
so many ozbargainers doing renovation projects at the moment get all the tools!
Click & Collect will be from Mount Druitt NSW only. Monday-Friday 9am-4pm
Postage showing as $10.95 for me.
This is a better deal, but I already ordered from Total Tools with my Insider Points.
the new versions of gearwrench scanners have yellow ink in the size numbers, it’s to make them more readable, not sure if they make 2 of same product lines, the one without the yellow ink which is often on special, and style with yellow ink which is never on special,
If you don't have any other tools and want to work on your car 12v ratchet wrench from Aldi + a cheap 3/8 socket set + a breaker bar would be a better choice…
Don't forget a torque wrench or torque attachment.
12v and the Aldi tool? Nah, OzBargain recommended Ozito and 18V! The Ozito Rachet Wrench. I have one and its great! I paired it with ToolPRO Impact Socket Set 3/8" Drive Metric 20 Piece that I got on special for about $60 I think. Does the job brilliantly!
However, in saying all of that, having the spanner set is often required to hold the other end of the bolt to avoid it spinning. So you kinda need both in some cases.
12v power is sufficient for most jobs as you won't undo tight bolts with these. I have a Toolpro 12V and never felt the need to upgrade to a more powerful one. The ozito is much bulkier with battery and won't make it in tight spaces where Aldi one will do.
Holding the other end with an open end or ratcheting wrench is doable but often you can get away with an adjustable wrench. The proper tool for that job would be box end wrenches.
Of course you can keep getting more tools to suit more cases, these are great but doesn't get used much when you have a power ratchet.
This is a great deal! I bought a similiar set from Stanley and they're pretty trash. They do the job but you can feel the poor quality in the ratchets.
i have this exact set, good quality for the price, highly recommend
