It’s the same price on steam if that makes any difference to anyone. I bought on steam last night.

    • +11

honestly steam is the superior program, epic has all kinds of little quirks like never remembering my "no notifications" settings, and no workshop support

worth mentioning RDR2 has some popular mods worth looking into

      • +4

        and no family library sharing.

        • +4

And no in house streaming, no remote play together, no cloud saves, no VR, no reviews, no community forums, no download scheduling…

          • @Alx75: Surely GabeN sold his soul so that all his competitors would be a bunch of headless chickens.

Honestly I'd rather the extra 18% go to the dev. I know it's Rockstar in this instance but Steam's predatory anti-consumer practices are having a devastating impact on the industry at large. Too many mass lay-offs. It needs to stop.

        • how is steam causing mass layoffs?

    • wasn't this free on epic a while ago?

  • +6

    same price at Steam

***Apparently available on Steam for the same or similar price.

It's not a similar price, it's literally the same price.

    • +2

Well technically it is similar but you are more correct in that it is the same.

  • +2

this is the normal price these days

  • +3

Strange name for a game. Is it any good?

    • +3

it's my top 5, and plenty of people have it as their literal GOAT game

made in 2018 and it still rivals current AAA games in quality and scope

    • +1

It's Rockstars latest major release - what more credentials does it need. I've picked it back up recently after 5 years and it's still just as beautiful as I remember. Unquestionably one of the greatest games ever made.

      • Not just the art, but the writing and acting.

There are shades of the great American novel in RDR2. There's a bit of Moby Dick, there's a bit of the Great Gatsby. And there's pieces of Cormac McCarthy and Jack London.

You may not have read those novels. You might not even be American. But play RDR2 and you'll have been there in a small, precious way.

    • DOOOODE! It's a great game.

    • I don't think it's a common opinion but I've tried to play it multiple times but bounced every time. It's the slowest game I've ever played and the systems, story and music aren't strong enough to get me past the god awful pacing.

Like below have said though, many people love it. Just be aware that it might not be for you

      • it's very slow at the start when you are in the snow
chapter 2 picks things up a bit

        • +1

I got 6 hours into chapter 2 before I quit

    • +4

In my top 3 games ever list.
Amazing story, written better than most of the books/hollywood movies
      Ridiculously detailed huge open world
Great graphics, landscapes are just nuts

Attention to details is mind blowing, eg. you shoot a deer and leave it on the ground, get back there in 3 days - still rots there with coyotes picking it clean, get back in a week - just clean bones. Improved arrows go deeper into the random barn wooden wall than regular arrows. You go fishing into the pond you dumped a dead body to in some quest two weeks ago and you can fish out their decomposing hand, it's nuts how well the world is connected and affected by your actions.

      • +1

You're really let yourself down for not mentioning that Rockstar coded the stallions in the game to have their dangly bits shrink in the cold.

        HOW'S THAT FOR DETAIL?

  • What about the Ultimate Edition?

Considering the age of this game, it should be less. No way a nearly 6 year old game should still be over $20. I remember buying Max Payne 3 for $4.99 USD on Steam in 2013 (it came out in 2012)

    • I like a full piggy bank myself, but the quality and experience of this game was worth every single penny at full price. It is simply a masterpiece.

    • Would be irony if you owned any Nintendo systems! 😜
      Btw, I agree with you.

  • +3

I tried, just too slow for me, same as the first one 15 years ago. Honestly don't understand how this game is so hyped.
There's actually not a single rockstar game I enjoyed, not even GTA 5.

    • I hear ya. I looked at walkthroughs and as I'm not much of a game story guy even playing YouTube video at 2x speed was a snooze fest. I couldn't get into Mass Effect for example. I bought Witcher and haven't given that a good go yet but I'm kinda feeling put off and my gaming time is my down time so too precious to waste doing something I'm not enjoyuing. I can get into open world just fine. Simulation sandboxe games are awesome to me, and I can even get into shooters. But I'm the kind of person that wants to skip cutscenes and ends up wanting to skip half the game. Most video game characters are way to shallow for me to care about the dialog and even the best video game plots don't entertain me as much as watching a good movie or TV show. Not going to lie I kinda envy gamers with more patience that can enjoy story mode.

      • +1

This game really needs a demo or trial version. After all these years I still can't decide whether or not I should buy it.

      • -1

Oh man I need to not reply first thing in the morning.Rambling sentences, typos and "to" instead of "too". FML.

    • I’m exactly the same, thought this game was slow and trash

      • +2

Was my thought on the first play through, tried for the second time few months later and spend 200 hours there :-D

  • -3

    I wouldn’t pay $8 for this game

  • -2

it's a niche game bullt more for those who like to explore and take their time
huge map and horses for transport means you will take a while to get everywhere

    • +3

      "it's a niche game"

8th in list of sales of video games (excluding mobile games) ever.

      Hahaha

    • +1

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

  • I’d love to know what games the people who didn’t like this one actually enjoyed.

    • Probably non story games or games with faster paced gameplay loop. The Red Dead series is one of my favourite but i'm not gonna pretend like I dont see why some people wouldn't enjoy it. It's a super slow paced game.

    • Well I have Witcher 3 probably as my top game of all time, I guess it also had a slow start but not as tedious as RDR.
Story, characters, gameplay, gear, skills, map, quests, all way better.

Too many games, not enough time, don't waste time on games you don't enjoy.

  • It also available on PS4/5 for the same price. I know cause I brought it last week!
