Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (256GB, Black) $879.20 Delivered @ digiDirect via eBay

950
DIGIOFF

Stumbled across this deal last night on digiDirect eBay store. Appreciate you can get newer Samsung flagship devices at good discounted prices but typically dependent on several variables not accessible to all. Listed price is $1099 before 20% off coupon (DIGIOFF) is applied. Listing says more than 10 available.

JB still has it listed for $1,947 but limited stock

Centrecom has enterprise edition for $1099 available at most of their stores (JB would price match centrecom)

Used prices are around $750 - $900 on eBay

Obligatory this is my first post disclaimer.

    oh no!

Leave the used price aside, that's a lot for 2 gen old phone.

    • When you can finesse the $0 port in JB Hi-fi phones , yeah

      • +1

Or you can buy them at about 1k mark directly from Samsung.

        • I meant you can finesse newer phones (up to 1 gen old) for roughly the same price as a "2 gen old phone"

    • 2 gen old Android!

    • It's better deal than iPhone 14 pro max at $700. You can extend with 1TB micro SD (s), S-pen, 200MP lens, AI, DeX multi window descktop mode, etc All extra features for long-term value. My battery stil lasts the whole day (& half) with <60% per day used (charging @ 20-80%

      • +3

This doesn't have sd card slot.

      • +1

Where is “ iPhone 14 pro max at $700” deal?

  • Grey import?

    • Doesn't seem to be. Just AU Enterprise Edition.

  • +3

Note: Only 2.5 years of security updates remaining.

    • +1

I have the S23U still on OneUI 5.1 lol. Not my primary phone but extremely zippy still. None of the OneUI 6 and 7 issues.

      • +1

Is there a way to revert the updates. Im on 6 and have noticed my camera is crap now.

        • +2

Hmm… Root then flash the 5.1 ROM. OUI 6 is easier than 7 to do this.

  • +20

Samsung peaked at the S23 series. After that, it's just gimmicks to sell new shiny stuff.

    • +8

I’ll never buy a Samsung phone personally and have been anti Samsung for a while now but my wife just got the Z Fold 7 and it’s a nice phone. Definitely not a gimmick.

      • +6

Have just made the same switch, from a 16 Pro Max. Honestly, it’s a really great device so far and people keep asking me what the hell it is. So I guess it is somewhat gimmicky, but it’s equally functional!

      • The foldable series is a different story, but for regular phones, the hardware has been almost similar for the last three generations; it is just a new name with a different camera location and a new price tag. Same story with Apple as well, there isn't much new to put in a phone every year, but somehow they gotta come up with schemes to increase sales and make their shareholders happy.

        • +2

The S25 Ultra Qualcomm chip is an absolute beast. S23 It's is still extremely great, but… You can't argue with those benchmarks in the current gen

          • +2

@Droz: Benchmarks are not trustworthy nor a gauge to check real-world usage differences.

          • @Droz: Benchmarks aside I'm very pleased with my S25 Ultra. Paid $1300 including 2 yrs Samsung Care back in March. Great phone, battery is 1.5 days easy.

        • +1

Completely agree. I could barely notice a difference moving from S23 to S25 ultras. Camera, screen, battery, speed, s-pen all felt exactly the same. Also upgrading on Android is a dog. Took me about 4 hours solid work re-logging in to all my apps.

    • +4

I'd say S20 was the peak. Last Gen before they removed the SD card and completely copied Apple for the main flagship phones.

      • +12

IMO S10 series was peak, headphone jack, microSD, 3 different models, shame that they've just been copying Apple…

        • Who still misses headphone jacks…?

          • @Sl138: S9+

          • +6

@Sl138: Give me a 3.5 mm jack any day

          • @Sl138: I was super angry at the loss of the headphone jack at the time. I even only bought phones that still had them for a while… but now? Yeah I am over it.

Sure you lost the ability to use headphones that don't need to be charged, but earbuds these days last ages anyway. If you really want to use wired you can use that adapter, and phone batteries last long enough now to not be needing to charge all the time.

            • +1

@zarbicore: I wasn't a fan of losing the headphone jack either. All my earphones/headphones are wired. But the USB-C to 3.5mm dongles aren't that bad. I've had the google and ugreen ones and both work great.

          • @Sl138: Me.

        • My s10 is giving up the ghost right now. Have changed the battery but it's just as crap as the original. Will go with the s25, not because I want to buy because I have to upgrade from the s10. I wish I could still keep it. Great phone.

        • Don't forget that came with Earbuds and a charger too! My s10e is my navigation phone in the car now.

      • My last Samsung phone was the S2. That was peak Samsung to me…
Got so many years out of that phone thanks to xda developers.

        • The S2 was a thing of beauty for its time. Absolutely indestructible.

          • @spy: I had the S2.. that OLED screen.. but my all time GOAT.. the HTC Desire.. OLED glory with the nicest material used ever!!

Also loved the HTC one x, but it was LCD.. great shape and that flip clock widget was amazing

            • +1

@BusMan247: Yeah they were great, though I went for the looks at the time - HTC Legend. Also AMOLED. Very unique. Aluminium unibody. A thing of art.
              Wish HTC were still around.

      • S4
IR Blaster & air hover on your finger above the screen so you could actually open the hover menus on web pages.
        Glory days.

      • I'm quietly hoping the introduction of 10X faster micro SD EX cards means a return for SD slots. But it looks like that's not happening for the S26.

      • Nahh Note 9 was it, backwards since then. All I want is a Note 9 with updated SOC.

    • +1

That's how I feel too, got my 10x optical zoom and bluetooth s-pen, happy days.

    • +1

"slightly better battery, slightly better processor, slightly better camera…. But SHITTONNES of AI features you'll never use"

      • AI on S23U is great (not as good as S25U, but much better than iPhone 17 Pro Max unAI ultra BRICS ;)

  • +6

    Curved screen.

    • That was my biggest downfall with this phone, meant cases never protected the side very well and after my 2nd broken screen i ditched it.

      • Literally broke my s23 ultra 2 hours ago in the manner.

        • +4

Well, if you're living in a manor, you can afford a replacement I guess ;-)

  • Wondering why not this? $33 cheaper, with more color options and a 99.5% seller rating

Digidirect is a legit shop with ABN. But not the case for this shop.

    • +1

      Looks like a grey import.

  • +4

    Can't believe sk many upvotes.

A 2.5 years old phone close to $1k is absolute madness to me.

  • +4

Fewer would know, the newer ones aren’t as good. This gen was probably one of the best. We are now in rehash for couple more until market improves.

    • +1

S25 went with flat screen design and 3nm snapdragon chip

  • -1

    expensive

  • +1

Below $700 is a decent price.

  • -4

I'd prefer grey import for Samsung phones, at least I can escape from exynos that way

    • +2

      This one has a Snapdragon.

  • +2

It's a great phone. It has a 10x periscope telephoto zoom, which got downgraded to x5 in later gen.

Note 256gb version has 8gb of ram, rather than 12gb. I had the 256gb version and didn't feel any lag at the time I had it.

  • Does the S23 Ultra come with a 10x periscope lens for long-range zoom?

    • -1

yes it does, but the actual use case for 10x optical zoom is not that good unless you have a really steady hands.

Any tiny hand movements will be too much for the 10x optical zoom, and photos will come out blurry and videos shaky.

I think that is the reason Samsung lowered the zoom back to 5x.

      • +2

The 10x zoom has OIS and is really useful for me, I haven't found camera shake to be a problem at all.

        • +2

The 10x is very usable is most conditions and the switch back to 5x on the later models is frustrating.

      • +1

I think you'll find most S23U users will be reluctant to give up their 10x optical zoom.

      • To be fair, the newer models have a 50MP sensor for the 5x zoom, compared to the 10MP sensor, so at least the digital zoom crop shouldn't cause too much of a quality drop

  • -1

    will officeworks pricebeat?

    • +1

can't beat what they don't stock

  • I reckon get s24u much better , there isn't much difference between 24&25

    • Where to get s24u at this price?

  • -1

You sure you will be getting a "brand new" phone from this seller?

    • digiDirect is a reputable seller. If it's advertised as brand new, you will get brand new.

  • +1

Doubles as a handheld console up to switch 1

  • Hmmm, I use the S23U… do I want a back up in case my current one dies? I'd miss the 10x zoom.

  • Comments regarding the price being expensive, perhaps have a look at what JB is selling it for first: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra-…

  • +1

Debating I think it's finally time to upgrade from my S9 plus
But debating on going for this for the price we see here which is pretty good or the S24U thought pros and cons?
(Been a bit outdated with phones lately)

    • I'm in the same boat with a S20ultra. NFI what to upgrade to and the S20 is just about dead. Usually just buy a used 2/3 year old phone but i usually spend 4 or 5 hund, not $900. Yeesh.

      • I agree normally I would just get a used iPhone from marketplace and call it a day but since I use my phone so much for work on a daily basis now due a new role at work I'd splash a little bit for something decent

  • +1

    All sold.

There were only 3 available when I saw post and was deciding whether or not to upgrade from Note10+

Decided to proceed but sold out, despite listing still showing one available.

  • Coming from a Samsung Ultra 5G (First Gen) and upgrading to the Ultra 23 just last year.

Phone is too heavy and will hurt your wrist, I was able to get it through facebook marketplace for this price.

Not impressed, too heavy, nothing fancy same old phone, if anything, it has better durability, as in harder to break and no screen issues as previous phone.

Thats my view, If you want a strong wrist and you dont suffer from arthritis or other symptoms, go ahead, recommend it to you.

May not be as heavy without case, but watch what happens when you get the case.

    • +2

Agree that it's heavy. But I got use to mine… the camera, processing power, and Samsung's translation software and regular updates makes up for it for me.

      • Great phone other then it being heavy

    • Yes it is heavy. It is a trade off in packing so many cameras and stuff into a large screen phone. If it's not your thing, probs look at something like Galaxy S plus line.

  • Joking re price!

  • are these phones leftover from two years ago or are they still manufacturing new ones for some reason???

  • I really wanted to buy but Samsung bloatware puts me off and OneUI 7 is too much like a wannabe iOS.

I just had a look at the comparison between my $499 P8P and this is only marginally better.
