This previously popular budget Android tablet is back on sale and about A$20 cheaper than last time. Stack with Cashrewards upsized cashback and join Team OzBargain for a further 5% back as credit.

The P50AI is a budget Android tablet from Teclast that ships with Android 15 out of the box with PC mode and offers a few more unique features. Notably, it includes two USB-C ports with one USB 3.2 (10Gbps) port with DisplayPort video output + PD charging and a second standard USB-C port with PD fast charging. The tablet has a 90Hz display and supports LDAC high-definition audio via Bluetooth 5.4. While a lot of the "AI" features are gimmicky, one notable one is toggleable AI video upscaling.

Other features include 11" 1280x800 90Hz refresh rate IPS display, 6GB LPDDR5 RAM (+10GB extended RAM), 128GB UFS 3.0 Storage (microSD support), Allwinner A733 8-Core CPU, Allwinner IMG BXM-4-64 MC1 GPU, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 7000mAh battery with PD fast charging, dual USB-C, dual mics, dual speakers, 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. The dimensions are 258mm(L) x 170mm(W) x 8.3mm(H) and it weighs 540g.

The 1280x800 display is a weak point, but the 90Hz refresh rate and video output help offset it. While the Allwinner A733 isn’t as powerful as the Helio G99, it still outperforms the Helio G85 found in a lot of "budget" tablets available locally. It’s well-suited for light gaming (not Genshin Impact) and emulation. It handles media and general use well.

it's a great deal. I have one, it's tough, the battery's good, and gaming is smooth. The only bummer is that Netflix and HD videos don't work.

    • Why wont netflix work?

      • I meant just expect standard quality video quality. but overall its very smooth, perfect for kids and gameplay.

        • Not surprising for an 11" 1280x800 display I guess.

Doesn't this have widevine L1? It should work for netty

    • -1

I was checking out the "AI" features. Does the hand gestures work?

    • It is a great deal - that's a lot of decent hardware for A$125.

      Good writeup, too, OP.

  • Is this one better or telcast t50 mini?

Not fussed about size or 120hz.

    • +2

      T50 Mini has better hardware/performance.

  • I'd there any Android ATM that is better than this but cheaper than Lenovo Xiaoxin pad pro?

    • +2

      Xiaoxin pad non pro…

    • Also checkout the Alldocube iPlay 70 range, which sit somewhere between Teclast and Lenovo in price, but relatively high in specs.

      • Hmm, seems Pro model costs ~270 + tax ATM and only has 60Hz screen :(

        • +1

If you care about screen refresh, go for the iPlay 70 Mini Ultra which has 144Hz and a much better CGU/GPU.

          • @Piers: But it has small screen :(

            • @kanu666: First i thought 11 is too big and i want 8 but then i realise my zfold is already 7.6 so yeah i agree 11 is perfect

  • +2

Im looking for a display for calendar and basic operations. Is this the cheapest tablet?

    • Likewise, also perhaps as a digital photo display for slideshows.

  • I can't seem to find a decent cover for this tablet

    • +1

Not many and $17ish. On ali

  • Anything 12" or above good for kids netflixing and robloxing? Thanks in advance

    • -2

How old are the kids? 9 inch tablets is perfect for my 5 years old

  • Does this come with free malware? Some reports on Reddit of OTA updates from Teclast installing malware/adware

    • +4

It wouldn't be in their best interest to put malware on their devices when they focus on the international market and they certainly wouldn't do it intentionally. You can buy their motherboards under their Maxsun brand here locally. I'm struggling to find any credible reddit sources too.

      • Wow had no idea they were the same company. Maxsun makes some great value boards especially in the ITX space.

      • Read here

        • -1

I suspected that was the post. The OP mentions their generic tablet and someone in the comments claims they got one through an OTA but make no mention of what tablet or when it was. For a brand as widespread as this you'd think there would be more complaints if it more than a once off or someone potentially installing something dodgy on their own tablet.

  • +8

I really want to buy this but I don't need it. It's nicer to have a tablet for media consumption in bed than a laptop. Just writing this to get it out of my system.

  • -1

    Abit heavy

    • +2

11" and above tend to be heavy.

I dont see those code on cashrewrd app. Only codes with AUAUxx

        • +1

Irrelevant for AliExpress cashback. Item must be affiliated is the only requirement.

          • @Clear: Ok. Bought. I guess good for next month overseas trip. Dont want to carry ms surface

      • Yeah Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 is a heavy tablet. My daughter T50 mini is perfect

  • +3

Is this a good option for a Home Assistant tablet for dashboards and control?

    The price is pretty tempting…

    • +1

Was thinking this would be absolutely perfect for this usecase, and a pretty good bargain at this price. Unfortunately I don't really need another Home assistant dashboard at the moment.

      • Not for spare?

      • what about constantly having it plugged in?

        • I'm not sure if it's available on this tablet, but some tablets have an option to protect the battery life? I think it was there on one of my older Xiaoxin Pads.

I'm hoping someone with this particular model can confirm this one has it too.

        • +1

Yeah would love to know if this comes with the battery protection / passthrough charging

        • +1

My plan is to connect it to smart plug and turn it off when it reaches 80% battery and on again at 20%, that should work I believe?

          • +1

@pinkwick: can smart plug detect a device's battery level? i cant imagine how, but good if they can

            • +2

@McMaferMur: Run the plug from within Home Assistant, with the tablet reporting charge back to HA too. Automation setup in HA to turn on/off the plug.

            • @McMaferMur: No, the home assistant app itself on the tablet reads the battery level, which you can use as a sensor to turn the plug on or off. This is only theoretical though as I personally never tried it (and I won't anytime soon as I hesitated too long and I missed out on this deal already!).

    • +1

I don't have any input for you other than I'm looking at this for the same thing.

I really want a couple of these to replace Google Nest Hubs as the voice recognition is now trash

  • Is this tablet, Play Protect Certified?

I need it to run Netflix.

    Tracked AUD 11.02 from CR
Estimated approval: Up to 95 days

  • Can I get a hand from the community please? Looking for something for my 90 year old neighbour to replace a laptop almost as old. She wants to check email, do her online banking and Facebook. I know almost anything will do that. Are there any watch outs? She needs large fonts so I'm guessing the resolution could actually be a bonus?
    Thanks

    • +3

Probably best to step up to a Chromebook. Having a full desktop browser will be important for doing online banking if she isn't comfortable using banking apps.

She may also value a traditional keyboard and mouse, but flexibility of having touchscreen is also there.

  • +1

The codes above still works and got USD $10 off so paid USD 81 plus GST
Total USD 90.83 including GST Shipped

How long does Cash Back take to get tracked at Ali Express ?

    • Original deal price is inc of GST.

    • -1

      no the codes don't work….it show $174.53….

  • -1

one aliexpress site shows $277 and the other $174, so how do I get $125?….

    • +1

The deal has been expired since yesterday morning.

      • -1

yeah but it's still in stock…..

        • -1

McMaferMur said he got it for $125.29 (just 59 minutes ago)….so how?

          • +1
            • -1

@Clear: how do you know?…they said they did though.

                    • -3

@Clear: yah of course i know this, but I want the cheap price like everyone else, and you know it's displaying $150 at the moment, so there is always some kind of deal if you can use the codes or not and if you work for alibaba or not i just don't know, but i want for $120ish and i think it can still be achievable and some say it comes with the stylus and keyboard and cover so can you confirm that or reject it?…….

                      • +3

@[Deactivated]: The product is out of stock currently and it was marked as expired yesterday when the US$81.99 price ended. There's nothing I can do to change that as I'm neither Teclast nor Alibaba/AliExpress.

                        • -3

                          @Clear: …well it's still available in stock so yea…..

                      • -3

                        @[Deactivated]: don't just neg!!!!!

                  • -3

                    @[Deactivated]: Clear negged me!

  • Arrived!

  • Did anyone else had issues with software? I had random square blocks flying all over screen in the end had to return. Tried flashing software again but no difference.

    • I returned mine today. Kept randomly rebooting. After a factory reset couldn't even get past the initial few onboarding screens before it would reboot again

      • Haven't had any issues with mine.
