These never work well for me. I've tried multiple brands on different computers with different routers and the USB ones always keep dropping out or dropping to unusably slow speeds.

Have you tried having 2 separate channels for 2.4GHz and 5GHz with your wifi? And only connecting devices using the product mentioned here via 5GHz. My OLED switch and PC kept dropping out trying to use 2.4GHz. So I solved this using the method above.

      • just my experience with a small cheapie WiFi like this one in the past.

2.4 has lower speed but actually has better range than 5ghz. so with the dongle I got better speeds by limiting to 2.4 in WiFi properties.

but the lack of proper antennae is the biggest problem with these USB WiFi. get one with a antennae or at least antennae connector so you can get your own cheap one.

    • I've had issues w pcie network wifi card and usb.

they work but packet loss still.

only devives that don't do this is ones with proper built-in wifi and antennae like in my mini pc or laptops.

    • Had good experience with similar USB Wifi from Officeworks for 20$.

    • I had a similar issue, but I found out that my power settings actually powered down USB ports (and my wifi connection with it).

    • I have found that, for these USB adapters, you'll need to disable the "Power Saving" features otherwise they keep dropping out. Not just the power saving features in the settings but the actual "USB Root Hub" in Windows as well.

In Windows, go to "Device Manager", then under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" section, double-click on each "USB Root Hub" then select the tab "Power Management". Uncheck the checkbox for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". See screenshot below for details:

  • My motherboard has wifi 6 and bluetooth integrated into the board. I think this should be the case for ALL pc motherboards because it needs to be standard for all computers.

    • The integrated wifi has one or two aerials in the rear?

      Unless it's a laptop

  • Can we use this with NVR's security system when they can't be connected easily with ethernet wire?

  • USB A? What is this, 2015?
