And you know the saying: “you can always trust ShopBack with large cashbacks. Yep. Always. No need to search OzBargain to prove it. Please don’t. Just buy. ShopBack gooooood. Not a scam. Gooooooood.”

    • I’ve never had a single issue.

  • +1

    Are you sure both stacks?

  • +2

Would I be able to get this If I was with them just 2 months ago?

    • also would like to know

      • +5

I was with another retailer for less than a week, before switching back to Powershop. Got the $200 credit on electricity. Probably will get it for gas too.

Switched under the same SB cashback deal a few days ago, which tracked in less than a day.

  • +3

According to exclusions, you won’t get Cashback on store promotions, discounts or specials deals unless otherwise stated.

So does that mean they won’t give the Cashback because of the credits on offer?

  • It lists the $200 signup credit when selecting the Powershop plan on the econnex ShopBack link so I'm pretty confident you'll get both

    • +2

I signed up with Powershop using Econnex a month ago and received Powershop credits. It takes longer to receive the Econnex cards, but they seem to be stackable and it may be a "safer option". You also get $75 credit for referrals which is quite interesting. I already got 2 people randomly using my link!

      • Did you wait until you receive your GC, before changing the electricity provider ( with econox, i signed up 30 days minimum stay - didnt receive the GC yet- but wants to move again

        • +1

I'll leave once I've reached the minimum of days required to stay on (45 days in my case) and I'm out of credit as I believe you can't cash this out, even if you leave. From previous Econnex threads I understand there is no need to wait for the GCs, only the minimum stay matters.

  • +1

How long do you need to stay to be eligible for the Cashback?

Edit: says 75 days with the brand. So I assume you can shift to another plan within powershop such as an ev saver to get some ev charging benefits.

    • Yeah unfortunately don't seem to be able to select a EV plan initially.

    • where do you see 75 days? I only see shopback terms saying Confirmed in 120 days

      • Yep, i just realised this morning as it was tracked.

I guess i'll have to churn again if i dont get the powershop credits.

    • Signed up and now trying to switch to ev plan. Anyone know how to do this? Can't find it in the app unlike ovo

  • -1

Only problem with powershop credit is you can't cash it out. They only let you use it for billing

    • Essentially the same as cash…

      • +2

Certainly not, far from it. If it was cash you could get the money and swap again. However you are stuck with them until you use it all up

        • +1

          And that's a problem because….?

          • @tenpercent: Because at least for me their rates are very high and eats into any benefit in addition to any risk of getting any declined Cashback

            • @eeeee: What do you think is the best offer at the moment for electricity?

      • Seems to be the opposite of cash… Solely a 'credit'.

Is there a T&C that says you cant cash out your account credit?

        • Yes

    • You can only cash out withdrawable credits, which are your solar FIT credits and government (ex gratia) payments.
The rest you have to spend with Powershop (i.e. non-withdrawable).

    • But as long as you have credit to spend, it's essentially free electricity / gas isn't it? Sounds like a good way to use it IMO.

      • -1

Yes, good high value credit but not cash. It will take me months to use up the full credit so not a great deal for all. There are other signup promos I have been able to cash out the credit for.

        • Are there any better offers than this one available at the moment?

      • With gas (and electricity if not a smart meter), unless you pay for a special meter read, you are stuck for a full 3 month period. So if you spend your credits after the first bill at 3 months, you are stuck for another 3 months with no credit

        • Oooh that's a good point. I naively thought gas was billed monthly like electricity. So I should be aiming at spending all my gas credit within the first 3 months essentially?

          • +1

@Sebajun: You will have to port out after 75 days and before the 3 month mark. Hopefully you still get the credit on your first aka last bill. Dont forget potential 1 aug rate increases. Honestly, seems too hard and not worth the effort for gas unless the rates work for you moving forward.

        • Some retailers (not Powershop) will allow you to port out based on a manual meter read.

  • +2

Looked like a great deal, however Ecconex won't show any powershop gas offers for me when i run the comparison.

EDIT: I've tried like 15 random suburbs around Vic/NSW and none show a single powershop gas plan.

    • +1

Powershop only shows up for me when doing electricity and gas in one combined switch.

      • Just tried that as well and no luck. What a weird cashback offer lol.

Yes, it is clearly mentioned that:

You won't get Cashback on store promotions, discounts, or special deals unless otherwise stated.

Is there a ShopBack representative on OzBargain who can confirm whether both can be combined, or will ShopBack refuse to pay cashback due to the promotion?

    Thats what vertual chat tells:

Thank you for your question,****! When using ShopBack with Powershop, you can earn Cashback on your purchases. However, the specific details regarding whether you receive both Cashback and Powershop credit would depend on the terms of the offer or promotion at the time of your purchase. It's always a good idea to check the specific terms and conditions associated with the offer to understand what rewards you will receive.

  • From their T&Cs re: bill credit:
    https://www.powershop.com.au/customer-terms-and-conditions/e…
the market contract must be your first electricity market contract with Powershop for the premises you switch.

So technically you can get the Sign Up credit of $200 on your bill, but you could get Shopback's cashback?

    • so if with Powershop before, then no $200 Sign Up credit, only Shopback's cashback?

      • Sorry my bad - CANT get $200 sign up credit from Powershop, but can get ShopBack $200 cashback

  • Am with Powershop atm and their prices are significantly going up for me from 1st Aug. Switched to OVO plan with this offer although their solar FIT is only 1c. Probably going to stay with them for the winter, get the bonus cashback and switch to a better plan.

After submitting my application, I received a text from Econnex offering a $20 Woolies gift card for a Google review. Check to see if you receive a text too.

    • Will this void your Cashback?

      • I doubt it. It's a completely unrelated promotion directly from Econnex, not the energy retailer. However, if in doubt get confirmation from the Shopback rep.

  • +1

Currently $250 Cashback with Cashrewards. Unsure if you can get the credits from Powershop as well though. I know I've done this with Engie (both Cashback and credit).

    Thanks OP

Negging Shopback Energy deal. I joined Energy Australia to receive $180 cash back, but it never appeared and was never approved.

  • How long do we need to stay with Powershop to receive the cashback? I guess it's the same as "confirmed in" i.e. 120 days?

  • only issue with this deal is the length of time it takes to receive the cashback which I assume is going to be ~90 days. this is a long time compared to exconnex

  • Signed up via SB app. Fingers crossed with the tracking.

  • How dodgy. They limit the plans you can go on. Red energy has a qantas and a zoo plan, but they only show the one with same rates but no perks.

    • I went back to purchase my plan on red energy and the rates went up, higher than advertised on the red energy website. I don’t know what to say, but there is a disclaimer saying the rates are indicative and will be confirmed later.

  • +2

Thanks OP, signed up and got shop back tracked and also seeing the sign-up bonus in my offer. Hope the shop back cashback confirms and I get both.

  • Yep, i got tracking as well, hooefully get the CB and the sign up creldits too,
