Desk Swivel Chair $200-$300

Hi everyone! I’ve finally decided it’s time to replace my worn out chair of 5 years now that I’m sitting on plywood with no cushions anymore lol

A office or gaming style chair is fine but ideally I’d love it to be tasteful and not “gamer red” or the large pu leather corporate office chairs

Anyways, appreciate the help!

Very hard to find a good office chair. 15 years ago I paid about $170 for a nice office chair from IKEA with a steel frame and very thick and durable 100% cotton fabric covering the seat and back.

Pretty sure you won't find a cotton office chair nowadays, which is very sad. I'm still using it today. No holes. Cotton=no sweat, no slip, very comfortable without being too warm.

Most office chairs are leather (expensive, and makes you sweat), fake leather (makes you sweat, not durable, and looks horrible when it wears out), or plastic fabric like polyester (makes you sweat, feels too warm on your body, and easy to slip).

Having said that, out of those 3 types of materials I would definitely choose real leather if I got a new office chair. Also, the angle of the back needs to be adjustable so you can lean back a bit with your lower back in a comfortable position.

Also the chair should able to go as low as you like it. (some don't go low enough for me, I like to relax, lean back and stretch my legs out on the floor sometimes, not just sit upright with knees bent all day.

Since you're in Melbourne, I'd try finding a second-hand office chair.
I find Melbourne has plenty of second-hand Haworth Zody chairs that you can get for sometimes under $100.

  • Try and find a second hand Herman Miller from facebook, heard good things about them (although I haven't tried them myself)
