  • Will it go with a 9070xt or wait for something better?

i run this with a 5070ti for an ultrawide 144hz and a 4k 120hz setup, the higher the resolution, the more gpu limited you tend to be, what resolution do you play at?

        • theres only a few cpu heavy games you need to be aware of but most of the time, thats a good setup for most games

The 7700 on aliexpress has been on sale lower than this if you don't mind waiting

AM5 is starting to be great value.. :) The stock cooler sux though and you are better off with anything else.

  • +2

The 7600x deal is arguably better. the stock cooler is near useless and better get a $29 thermalright one.

    • +3

Near useless is a bit strong haha. I got the 7600 and using the stock cooler. Works fine for me, not noisy and keeps temps in check under load.

      • +2

TDP is 105W on the 7600x and 65W on the non x variant

      • +2

you mean 95c at load constantly?

    • I got the 7600x a few weeks ago for $216. Definitely a better deal at that price. I’m going for a very small footprint build so no use for the stock fan anyhow.

      • how did you get it at $216?

        • I can’t remember man haha but it was through Amazon uk. Maybe it isn’t showing up right on my invoice, but it says $216 Aud. Felt like a good deal!

@jrowls: Could be the $10 promo credit from NAB or the $20 first app payment or the 5% payTo promo or combo of them. anyway doesn't matter, its a good deal as you said.

@RTX9090ti -The 7600x was a great deal (I bought it at that price) but it has expired. There's not much difference in gaming performance/FPS between the 7600/7600x/9600/9600x (except if you using a high end GPU eg 5080/5090). Run the 7600/9600 in PBO and you'll get very close to 7600x/9600x performance but higher watts consumed and more heat. Run the 7600x/9600x in PBO and you'll higher watts consumed and more heat for very little performance gain. Run the 7600x/9600x in eco mode and you get 7600/9600 performance for less watts consumed and heat.

Buy whichever of the 7600/7600x/9600/9600x is the best deal at the time and, if you want, tweak the BIOS.

If you're on a tight budget and have a half decent airflow case and fans the wraith stealth will work just fine.

I prefer the X one due to overclocking capability, hence I said the stock cooler near useless in overclocking scenario.

personally I'm waiting for Clear deal on 7700X from Ali due to the 8 cores.

Great CPU - Runs everything really well with a 4070 super @ 1440p.

Included cooler is fine for a low-spec setup but didn't do too well with my itx build.
