Apple MacBook Pro 14" with M3 Max, 36GB RAM and 1TB SSD $2648 In-Store @ Officeworks

1360

As some of you know, I am far from an apple fan. However, today when I saw the MacBook pro m3 max for $2694 I couldn't resist.

Was told by staff that the item has been removed from the page but that there are plenty stores with one or two in stock.

There are also heaps of other MacBook on clearance but this one seemed like best value.

Can upload invoice if needed.

    • No M3 Max or M4 Pro on that photo?

      • The bottom two are pro and Max.

  • Which officework store?

  • key info is LOCATION please

    • This was in Vic, 3030. But many, stores have stock

Why only spend $6,500 if you're looking to future-proof? Tick every single upgrade possible on the website, chuck in Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro too and spend $12,328.98.

What a silly suggestion, are you even trying to future-proof?

    • +5

But what about the M6 Max the following year?

      • +5

Nah wait till the M10 in 2030.

        • +4

Sadly that has already been superceded by the M11 in 2031. My mother’s uncles aunts brothers roommates ex girlfriends pool cleaner has an inside ear at Apple.

    • +1

I'd suggest waiting for M21 Ultra Pro Max Titanium Sapphire to really future proof.

  • +4

Damn, coming so soon after the recent M2 Max deal!
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/915763

It's the same price as that one but one generation newer…

    • +2

Brutal. I hope they don't see this post.

  • +1

Damn good price I paid $6k when this came out, still a power house

  • 2300 would be a sweet spot / no brainer.

    • +4

Dude. This deal is way better than the other M2 Max 2 weeks back.

      Copped.

  • Does $200 extra worth for 16 inch version? Extra 1 usb-c port and 140w charger instead of 70w charger in 14 inch version. I seriously considering either one today. This one I am referring https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/macbook-pr…

    • +3

I wouldn't bother just for the charger and extra port, only worth it if you need the bigger screen. Personally I find the 16" huge and wouldn't get it even at the same price as I travel a lot. But if you're barely moving it around it would be worth going for.

    • +2

I've got the 16, this price in general is a crazy bloody deal. Both will be great, I got the 16 because early reports were it runs cooler in intensive tasks which I do, but also the battery is larger and has been handy multiple times for me. I will say though, it's been a pain in the ass when travelling due to its size and then having to consider what kind of bag I need to take around. Extra USBC port is definitely something I use really often when im not home, otherwise it's docked and you wouldn't notice it. - Despite the size and travel challenge. Id still get the 16" but that's just me, you wouldn't go wrong with either.

      • This "early reports were it runs cooler in intensive tasks which I do" I heard same thing from some others too, considering 16 inch, now another challenge, 36 GB RAM vs 48 GB for extra $300. I'll stick with 36 I think :D

    • +2

Go the 16", 14" is too small, seriously considering one and selling my 15" 16/512Gb MBA.

      • +1

        Heavy af though.

      End up buying 16” M3 Max 16/40 Core CPU/GPU 48GB/1TB SpaceBlack

      Order date Total Status
      02/08/2025 $3,194.00 Shipped

      • How did you place the order, it is not allowing me to order online

    • +4

I’ve had MacBook pros for the past 15 years of all the sizes from 13-16.

Get the 16. It’s just better. Although they sound big a 16” MacBook Pro physical form factor will fit into any normal laptop 15” bag or sleeve easily.

Any Mac Studio clearance by any chance?

  • I paid I think $800 more than this last year.

    • I thought it was closer to $5K. How did you get it at that price back then

  • How difficult to move from windows to Mac. I never had any apple devices…

    • +10

easy, you will never go back

    • Not very difficult generally but depends on your individual workflow.

    • +2

Pretty painful. I am still working it out since the m1 air was launched.

File management, software configuration, Mac Profile configuration, using apps, customisation etc…

The troubleshooting on mac is so degenerate lol.

The hardware and screen is definitely worth it though, as well as the resell value.

  • What are the differences between M4 and M3 Max?

      • Thanks. I meant base M4. Looking at the rest of the specs according to Apple’s comparison it looks like for my needs, the M4 is better. (Higher outdoor brightness, better battery, better camer).

        • marginally better… no way the same performance for anywhere near the price point though.

        • +3

On the other hand, M3 Max has more base memory and the SSD is faster (M3 Max is PCIe gen 4 x4 type speed for SSD), M3 / M4 base model is PCIe gen 3 x4 SSD. Also, the base M3 Max model has a larger SSD.
M4 Pro vs M3 Max would be more complicated since M4 Pro has Thunderbolt 5. However, I think Apple is saving WiFi 7 for M5 series.

For anyone in Canberra that’s curious, just had a check with Officeworks Belconnen and there’s none left for the 1TB in Canberra, just a single 512GB unit.

Was tempted to go with 512GB anyway but I think I’ll pass. Thanks OP

    • +1

You can order it on their site. As it turned out they aren't removed from there and can be ordered

  • +1

For the above stock, the number shown for stock in the state is much higher than the availability when listed by individual stores?
    - is it still worth going to a physical store to check?

  • +4

This is actually obsurd value. To think what you can get instead in terms of windows laptops is just not even remotely close at this price even with 16gig ram.

  • +1

Great price but I'll upgrade my MBP if/when they get rid of that awful notch.

We took the piss when it was on our phones but suddenly it's ok on our laptops?

    • +1

M5 surely, the myth is the notch disappears after 1 hour of use. Who are the Mythbusters?…

      Ok I'll stop

    • No. We took the piss then, too.

    • -2

say no to notch app is your friend, end of complaining lol

      • a glitchy app running in the background 24x7 is not a fix for apple's stupid design choices lol

  • +1

Can't find any in QLD or NSW silver or space grey :(

If anyone has bought MacBook Pro M3 Max 14" model and don't want it anymore, please hit me up. I'm happy to take it even for a bit more $$.

  • good lord this is really cheap.. bought my M3 Pro last year at around $3300.. upgraded to 1TB and had some discount even.

  • Good deal, but looks like it's out of stock at the moment.

  • Anyone in WA managed to snag one?

  • Excuse my ignorance, but in terms of performance would Macbook pro and Ipad pro be the best laptops and tablets on the market? Sure they are expensive but then again Apple has always been a premium product with longevity being a key point, plus for business owners, nothing like a tax deductible item to claim for work

    • +1

Yeah but if you’re asking this question, the airs would be plenty fine

Update: I read this deal last night, and I called Officeworks this morning.

For M3 Max: They said they sold out the last one in the Werribee store (I think it was your purchase). They are able to check the available items in any store, and they said there is no more M3 Max stock across Victoria. Only one available in Albion Park Rail - NSW, maybe in Queensland, and they don't send them across states.

The M3 Pro version is still available.

Cyberpunk would be nice on this, currently running it on a base M4 MBP

  • Why isn't this marked OOS yet

  • +6

People are already putting them on FBM place. I messaged 1 person to congratulate for making a nice profit and I was straight away blocked lol

    • What was the desired profit

      • $600

Scumbags. Trash like this deserve all the abuse they can get. Bottom of the barrel oxygen thieves. Scalpers are the epitome of a subhuman germ.

  • I rung Officeworks help centre today.

My order is on backorder with and ETA of about a week. She said the order is coming from a store to warehouse then to be shipped out.

So for anyone that managed to get to the "backorder" stage with an ETA I'd just hold tight.

    History:
After a few attempts, my order was marked under review on the 2nd at about 3pm, then was confirmed on "backorder" on the 3rd around 7am.
I ordered the 14inch 36gb Space Grey MBP

    • Still no update. Ill give it at least a full week before I call again but its looking unlikely.

  • Mine says "Preparing your order" with collection date of tomorrow, I doubt it'd arrive tomorrow 😔

    • It will

      • all good, received it on time and its a great machine

  • I called up Officeworks help centre and asked about my order. They assured me that the order was being fulfilled and they were just waiting on an order from their supplier. Now about an hour later I get an email saying "Upon following up your order after your call we have unfortunately, had to cancel your order as we are not receiving anymore stock into our Warehouse". Arghh…so crap. :(
