This is the default SteamOS version, featuring 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It’s not as affordable as the white version that was available a couple of weeks ago, but it comes with significantly better specs.

You can combine it with a 13% Cash Reward, bringing the price down to around $881 after deducting GST from the cashback.

It’s about $240 more expensive than the white version, but for that, you’re getting an extra 16GB of RAM and an additional 512GB of storage.

The market value of 16 GB LPDDR5X-6400MT/s = $140

Plus, 512GB microSD card sells for around $80, so you’re effectively paying about $220 for hardware and $20 for labour premium of manual upgrade. I think that a fair price.

32Gb paired with a Z2 Go, feels a little pointless.

Nearly $400 more than the white Go which isn’t worth it for the extra ram and storage. And no windows license?

Interesting thoughts. Im not expert but keen to hear your thoughts. Do you think Lenovo just put the higher spec in to inflate the price but not really benefit the overall performance?

It highly depends on the use case. 32GB is nice for if you also want to use it as a miniPC on the go for productivity (yes I’m weird like that), but if you’re gaming on steamOS, most games do fine with 16gb.

        • 32gb is also good for Switch games emulation such as the Legend of Zelda titles, but i agree that 32 gb on a handheld is overkill for 95% of the games

  • Just upgrade the white one and change os ?

You can't upgrade the RAM (but i still think the the premium isn't worth it compared to the 16/512 one).

Basically Steamdeck with 32gig of ram, not worth the price difference. Z1 E with 32gig then definitely worth a look.

I actually would love the Z1E version.
We don't have that in Australia, do we?

      No for some stupid reason

Otherwise it would be selling really well if it was priced well too that is but then this version and the white Z2 Go wouldn’t sell at all

      • +4

        You just gave the reason.

          I did indeed

I had the white one for a while. Steam os was an easy install. I did not open it though. Thanks for the info.
Just wait until this goes into clearance also. I think this would be worth $600.
999 price tag worth the z1e.

  • That’s a damn good price. Looking at some of the reviews, in newer games it’s faster than the steam deck, and you can boost up the power to 25w (15w on steam deck), battery life is better, bigger screen with VRR, and it’s the same price at the OLED deck, with 32GB ram.
