    Once you go black…

how is that compared to the Aldi here: https://www.aldi.com.au/results?q=nongshim. Apart from 520G as suppose to 480G for aldi.

I find black a lot more flavourful and not blow your face off spicy like the red.

      • -1

Blow your face off spicy? I understand a lot of people in this country can't really handle spice, but Red is not much spicier than the majority of "spicy" food in the supermarket. Perhaps you're confusing it with their newer Shin Red Extra Spicy?

    • +2

They're the red ones - which are much spicier and inferior to the black.

    • +3

These are regularly on sale at Colesworth for $5 for a 5-pack, rather than Aldi 4-pack.

Shin black are a+ tier noods.

Is Nongshim black suitable for vegetarians?

The black has a pork broth, so no.

      • Thought it smells more fishy than porkey

    • +1

If you don’t use the pork broth.

      • Might as well get the regular 5 pack version

    • +1

No, better off getting the red (mushroom) or kimchi.
Also cheaper ($5 every other week at colesworth) and 5 pack vs 4.

No point spending more than you have to on junk food.

I've been a regular eater of the Mama Pork flavour many years…still have plenty…but about 3 months ago walking thru Coles I saw the Nongshim Kimchi Noodles…5 pack 120 gm @ $5.00 per pack…bought a couple…

LOVED THEM!! Just about the perfect spice level…first 2 servings I needed a drink during…but now; all the spice sachet into the pot…LOVE IT!

        I buy whatever I can get from Woolies or Coles…when they're $5.00 a pack…

I reckon the best flavoured noodles going around…and I HAVE tried plenty…I much prefer the Kimchi to the Nongshim black too!!

        • Agree, good to hear. Yes I like the kimchi just as much or more than the mushroom, they have a nice sweetness to them not just outright hot.

Can vary how much flavouring you put in as well. Need to get some more..

Was technically the same price last week, but for the single packs.

Also if you have an Asian Grocer close-by, check to see if they have them on clearance due to close expiry.

Never been into packet noodles, but curious to try these, how do these compare to what you would get in a shop fresh

    • +3

Give Nissin Raoh a try, its the best you can get to shop quality for Japanese style instant ramen. can be found in most asian grocers

      • +4

        Nissin Raoh

For a second there I thought you were talking about a new car by Nissan.

For a second I thought you were messaging from Mortorola phone.

    • +2

The instant versions have high saturated fat

      • so do buckwheat (soba) noodles, always good to check.

I think everyone knows that instant noodles are horrendous health-wise, I like it as an occasional or sometimes food when can't be bothered cooking. The problem is sodium and MSG is addictive and the more you have in the house the more often you'll have them lol.

    • +6

set the bar low, then be pleasantly surprised.
at the end of the day its 'instant'…never going to come close to a professional restaurant grade

    • +1

Thanks, yeah I wasn’t expecting restaurant quality. Thanks for the tips I might try this and the Nissin

      • +3

2 packs on a cold winter night hits the spot everytime for me as midnight snack 🤙

Tried these and they didn't live up to the hype. If you can get Samyang Ramen, give these a try. I used pork broth for both noodles, and other brands, and the samyang brand turned out the best.

  • +1

    Prefer the normal version.

  • They won't have stock tomorrow, like what I saw before.

    • +1

I have had success with woolies rain check. Ask at the counter and they print you off a voucher for next time they have stock, same special price but at your convenient time.

how do these compare with Nissin ramen black garlic? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/911192

  • recommend this one..> Samyang Ramen made in Korea…

  • I added a comment above…but…Nongshim Kimchi…Orange coloured pack of 5 each 120 gms…Made In Korea Noodles…THE BEST!!

Was a very dedicated Mama Pork flavour eater for many years, still have a few packs but I nearly always go for the Kimchi!
