just go to maui jim's never look back. Oakley is so 1990s

Oakley is still an essential part of the bogan uniform

      • +2

Indeed, The wise old bogan from around the corner once whispered to me "you aint a real bogan if you dont wear oakleys"

      • Which is a shame as they’re going into the smart glasses range now like rayban.

    • Off topic, but do Maui Jim's do prescription lenses? On their website they just list physical optometrist stores. Do those stores make official Maui Jim lenses?

      • Yes, they are very expensive and I found the top shelf glass ones are so dark that I found them difficult to use most of the time. Great for boating, not for the rest of the time.

        • Where can I get Maui Jim prescription lenses from?

        • This led me to try the overseas company of Dresden for my new progressive lens glasses, and haven’t looked back tbh.

      • +3

Yes Maui Jim do prescription sunglasses. They need to be ordered through participating optometrists. They are not cheap, but they are the best prescription sunglasses on the market, in this humble optometrist's opinion.
Maui Jim website should list stockists, otherwise ring Maui Jim up and they'll direct you to a good stockist

        • What makes them the best?
          I’m genuinely curious.

  • +8

Oakley's are still cool but Maui Jim are top-tier

    • Serengeti is second tier :D

    • Costa with crystal lens are the og

    Plastic frame plastic lens. Pass

    • Glass lenses and metal frames (excluding titanium) are heavier. I get headaches pretty easily from heavy (and tight) sunglasses and prefer the lighter Ray Bans with flexible arms and plastic frame (yeah, I'm soft lol).

    • +2

Nothing better for sports and you can easily replace the lenses for $30 once the originals scratch out. Big plus. Found a pair of Oakley Holbrook XL buried in the sand at the beach. Replaced lenses and they were amazing for outdoor / beach / sports until they got pinched, karmically perhaps.

  • Oos

  • Polarised or nah? Also where is the size details on the page?

  • are these suitable for driving or not per https://www.reddit.com/r/Oakley/comments/f873qq/some_models_…

    • These are NOT suitable for driving

      • Is it true that driving suitability is just that the lenses are coloured which affects the road signs and signals colours.

    do these record?

    • +6

Yes, just attach your phone to it

      • bahahahahhaa

    • You aight, homie!

  • Lens are easily scratched, got couple before. not worth it, any other brand that are very scratch resistant?

  • +6

Try to avoid Luxottica owned sunglasses if possible.

    • -1

      lol good luck

    • That takes half the industry our for you including Ray Bans

    • How come?

  • my lens peeled, apparently the anti reflective coating, and it's hard to get it the glues cleaned.

  • Oakley are essilorluxxotica’s worst quality branded glasses.
