China Southern: Brisbane Return $600 to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Nanjing & Hangzhou (2x23kg Luggage) @ Google Flights

210

These fares are not uncommon from Sydney or Melbourne, but I rarely see them from Brisbane.
Flights are on China southern via Guangzhou—watch out for long stops when searching. I like to use the Google Flights filters to restrict the lfight time so I only see dates with short stops. 2 x23kg checked bags included, too.
Dates are September 2025 & March 2026 for Shanghai, September - November 2025 & March 2026 for Beijing, and October - November 2025 & March 2026 for other cities.

  • would a long /overnight stop over give you a free night in a hotel? . Thats what happened for me on every transfer I have made in china…. on different airlines including china southern….

China Southern will give you a hotel if your stop is longer than 8 hours. Pre-covid that was for everyone who had that stop, but now I think depends on your booking class. Have a look here

      • I heard you have to pay extra to get a single room otherwise they pair you with someone. It wasn't a lot of money though. Maybe $10-15 more.

I think that was about China Eastern, not sure with China Southern. I have used China Southern's free hotel before, but I was travelling in a pair so didnt apply.

          • @CheapFlightHunter: I think i read it somewhere. For my folks who recently went through them, apparently they were left stranded dor 16 hours transit when i had booked the hotel online. Not sure what happened. It could have been a language issue from both parties as the booking code etc were smooth to generate online

@Royale with cheese: Ah that sucks. Last year I flew to Europe on China Southern and had a long stop, I don't think I qualified for the free hotel that time (or maybe I didnt want it cause the time was a bit tight, cant quite remember), so I booked the Novotel at the airport. It's between the terminals so you do need to actually go through passport control etc which is a bit of a pain, but it was cheap and it was a good hotel and getting to shower and sleep for a couple hours on the way to Europe is soooooo good!

I believe they offer room for one bed per ticket, if you want have room by yourself with single ticket cost only around AUD$30-$40.
