Car Sim Suggestion (Using Old Laptop and G27)?

Picked up a G27 wheel on hard rubbish.

Built a race rig for the wheel / peddles / shifter.

I'm not much of a gamer. Have an old PS2. Grabbed a MX2SIO from AliExpress and downloaded GT4. It's pretty good, but the ole 480 res doesn't look great on a modern TV

Looking at PC options.. ..with an old laptop.

Can either use my old MacBook (2012) running bootcamp windows with GeForce / Intel 4000 hybrid graphics (I used to play COD Modern warfare for reference).
Or I have a HP with Intel 620.

Looks like Richard Burns RallySimFans or Arsetto Corsa or Raceroom doesn't take much to run?

Any recommendations on which may be best. 50" 4kTV and the G27?

Mrs can't complain if I haven't spent a cent on the thing..right!

Secret backup plan… grab a laptop from Marketplace with GeForce 1080. But looks like the old car game can run off basic gear?
What should I start with. Preference for realism physics?

  • peddles

Remind us, what you are peddling again?

    • +1

To me, grammar is just an old lady!

  • Sim Suggestion

    Amaysim is cheap right now.

  • The older Simbin titles (GTR, GTR2, GT Legends etc) are great and should run well on older hardware
Rfactor 1 is also worth looking at

    • Cheers mate.

Which game has the best sound? - Sega GT (i think it was) used to have awesome engine sounds. A bit disappointed with Gran Turismo.
I also grabbed a Sony Muteki 6:1 system from hard rubbish, and used that around the rig… But needs some nice V8/ turbo/ V10 notes.

My home made rig is HAAS inspired. Got the colours and sponsor logos…plus all the famous Gunther Steiner 1 liners on it…It's my "Gunther Shrine'r"… so probably should have 1 decent F1 option.

Which has the best F1 sim (Arsetto/ project cars)?

      Cheers again

        • Pretty much…haha!

Some of the old sim games with open source shaders etc actually look pretty good.

Kind of like the old Unreal tournament..that would run smooth as silk on a Casio calculator..
