  • For Sony people out there, Tamron SP60 for under $90…. http://www.graysonline.com/retail/4330-aa-na/cameras/tamron-…

  • sigh feeling worse knowing they were on again and missed out….sigh…..

  • the prices are messed up. 50mm 1.8 is $333.95 WTF?

    • I forsee a today tonight story….

"computer glitch at grays online causes heartache for consumers"

      • 2 for the price of 1? :)

      • +7

I am ready to cry in front of the camera if they want to do this story..

    • There's a micro sd card going for more than $800 lol

  • How come I missed this?? Scuse me while I go and sob in the corner :(

  • i won't be able to sleep tonight having missed this deal. even if they cancel the orders they'll probably give $10 discount coupon or something…

  • I have never bought from graysonline. Can anyone tell me if the lenses are new? The item description never says anything about the condition.
Also, are the lenses shipped from overseas? Why is there a GST clause:

GST Note: Where the customs value of the goods is less than AUD$1,000, the goods will not be subject to Australian customs duty or Australian GST. However, …

I want to get some lenses but I want to know if the lenses are new.

    • It seems these lenses are shipped from overseas. The invoice says "GST charged: $0".

      • Everyone is saying how good the deal is but I cannot see anywhere which says the items are new. They could well be refurbished or returned items.

        • At those prices, I wouldn't mind if they were refurbs or returns at all!

But really, it's just a pricing error. They'll just cancel everyone's orders.

        • Under trade practise laws it must be stated if items are not new.

        • At these prices as long as it works who cares

        • I am referring to other items which are cheaper than new but not too cheap. If they are new I might buy them but if the condition is not known I will give them a miss.

  • Oh man.,… so bummed I missed this…

    • +4

Don't worry, just send us your email address, we can all send you the cancellation emails we will all get. That way you can join in the fun too.

  • The 5D MkIII with 24-105 is a bargain at $3,259.95… hmmm…

  • So if anyone happens to get a 85mm f1.2 I'd be willing to take it off their hands for double what they paid…

    • +2

Nice try LOL, many throughout history have tried this.

"Peter Minuit I'd be willing to take the island of Manhattan off your hands for DOUBLE what you paid!"

    • If they actually honour this. I can sell it easily 3x more than what I paid but I'm not going to do that because it's such a good lens =D

  • I wonder how automated all if this is - maybe the orders have passed to the drop shipper already :s

    • Yep they do mention on their website that their system is automated. Hopefully its true But i think they were aware of the issue thats why prices got changed so quickly..

  • -2

The person who found out about this should have kept it to themself and hope one order just slip through. Now there is a tsunami of order which will definitely raise attention.

    • I did this once and Oz Bargain found out about it half an hour later, I didn't end up getting anything.

    • +6

Haha yeah I thought about doing that, but I enjoyed contributing to this community so much. Helping people out and giving advice, it was awesome :) I get bargains all the time at Ozbargain and seeing this awesome opportunity, I had to contribute! Self Fistbump Haha

Hey guys, was trolling these deals to see if they will come back when I noticed the reviews on this lens.

    http://www.graysonline.com/retail/227-aa-na/cameras/canon-ef…

Based on the first review comment, it seems like they have done this kind of crazy price before in December? Or is it just my wishful thinking that my order won't get cancelled?

    • The first comment mentioned that it was $500 cheaper than Australian retail price which would make the price around $800. The cheapest gray stock is $ 766.97 from camera paradise (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/91670). The one on Grays Online is $267.95. Which I doubt they will honour it.

  • Btw the 14mm fisheye is still up at bargain price

    http://www.graysonline.com/retail/230-aa-na/cameras/canon-ef…

  • Received the other invoices this morning.

  • No invoices as of yet for anything.

Bought the 70-200 6:40pm. Still holding out hope.

  • Anyone else notice this at the bottom of their invoice?

"TITLE TO THIS INVOICE DOES NOT PASS UNTIL PAID FOR IN FULL"

As I've paid in full surely they won't steal it back of me!

    • Yes but it also shows how much is paid. If paid in full pending is shown as zero.

  • I've received confirmation mails for all and money out of CC. Received one invoice last night but others pending.

    • Same here, received 1 invoice, still waiting for the other 2.

  • When is a similar Nikon deal going to pop up!? Call me biased, but it always seems to be Canon lenses which have these kinds of crazy deals :(

I want the 50mm 1.4g - I can find it for the reasonably attainable price of $350-ish delivered, but cheaper is always better!

  • God damnit!

How frequently do these types of canon lens deals come along??

    • This is more of a pricing error than a deal. I highly doubt they will honour it.

  • So they've pretty much fixed all the prices. Now we wait…

    • considering they ran out of stock during those price errors but now have same lens in stock with correct prices. as this was done on a non-working day there is no way they got new stock in..

      oh well, damn pricing errors!

      • I'm still seeing the same low prices, and all out of stock.

        • edit: nvm

linked v1 of lens when it was actually v2 that sold out

    • Same here. I cannot see any of the lenses available on their site at fixed prices. Can you provide some example of this price correction?

      • I don't see them anymore. They pulled all the items off the list. Things were appearing, disappearing, and for a short while changing price for a very short time window.

    • Not sure why I got the negs… Someone care to explain?

      • +3

        Resell for 300% profit?
I'm guessing that OZb community don't want you to take advantage of the bargain. Probably want you/others to appreciate it.

        • +5

I didn't neg you but I don't like how you
          1) talked about wanting to hoard and sell
          2) used 'reselled' vs 'resold'
          3) the 'f**k you' wasn't really necessary
          4) this is the most important point… typed EVERYTHING IN CAPS!!!!

        • +5

Hmm, I guess I can see where you're coming from… Basically hoarding stops others from getting what they actually want..

          Anyways, tikei…

          1. Sorry bro, I can see your point now lol
          2. Wow I didn't notice that…. Forgive me I'm on Uni holidays
          3. I didn't actually mean it, it's more of an exaggeration… Come on guys, swearing isn't that bad
          4. SORRY MAN… No seriously, I was just really disappointed for the fact that I missed out.

          Peace !

PS: I hope all of you get your orders and Grays doesn't change their minds.

        • I didn't actually mean it, it's more of an exaggeration… Come on guys, swearing isn't that bad

I agree it's not really that bad but when others read your entire comment it looks bad.

        • Yeh, I read it from a different perspective, don't worry I can see the light now

          http://www.divinadi.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/light_at_…

  • Still some good (not great) deals to be had.
None of the lenses appeal to me and cant be bothered having a stab to try and flip for a profit…

Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Lens
    http://www.graysonline.com/retail/230-aa-na/cameras/canon-ef…

    • Thanks bought Sigma 24-70 for my Nikon d600. Still cheaper by $200 than the cheapest on ebay. Lets see if they will honor it now…

    • Tempted by the 14mm but I would have to pay import costs as well so that's turning me off…

  • My paypal is now showing payment as completed rather than pending. I suppose that aspect of the transaction is probably automated on the Grays side.

    • my CBA still shows pending.

  • The charges for all my orders have now shown up on my Amex. However I have yet to receive invoices for these orders except for the first one.

    • Yup, same here. Amex charges appeared within the past 8 hours or so.

    • Same here..all ordered have been charged and confirmation emails received but invoice only received for one. Rest are pending.

  • my visa card was charged on the day, all invoices have been received. i got the tamron 180mm macro for 200ish :) hope it goes through!

  • I got charged however Im missing two of the invoices still :(

  • If something was wrong Grays would've contacted some if not all of the buyers by now right?

    • Possibly, but maybe not as there hasn't been a working day yet. I assume nobody has tracking info…

      • Or maybe they've been flooded with orders and just taking their sweet time…I've heard stories where sellers have taken weeks to refund monies when they didn't have stock etc or even contact the buyers. I guess there's no rush on their end if they are sitting on all this cash suddenly.

  • I've bought form grays before, and they dont' seem to tell you if ur order has been shipped or not and also no tracking number

    • At least for me, I've always received delivery notification from them with tracking number through Australia Post. I have never bought any grey import cameras/lenses through them so not sure if this type of delivery email applies to that or not.

      • +1

I really don't care if I get confirmation email/tracking number.
All I care is my 2 lenses in front of my door.

  • Some items are back in stock — and quickly disappearing!

Managed to pick up (one of each):
    - Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Lens
    - Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM
    - Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L USM II
    - Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens
    - Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM
    - Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM Lens (White)
    - Canon EOS 7D with 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens Kit

    Ship these out plzplzplz. :P

Edit: Received the tax invoice for all items 3 minutes after placing the order.

    • I hope you ordered them separately mate, otherwise you might get a GST bill since the shipment from Asia will be > $1000 (they do say separate delivery though, so you might be safe).

      • I did split the order up (4 in total), but I'm nevertheless prepared to pay GST/duty because there's a fair chance of it still being assessed for multiple packages from the same seller: http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5549.asp#MultiplePackages

Edit: If I had a bit more time to think, I probably would have had the orders sent to different addresses.

    • +1

Its all your fault…. I have now ordered 4 Canon lenses @ $2k. Small problem, I dont have Canon camera :)

Oh well if it ever gets delivered, I may have to swap my D600 for a Mark 3… Somehow I dont think they will honor it.

      • In the past few days I've spent more on photographic equipment than I ever have in my life! :P

        • +1

          I know right…
$400 for a lens worth $1000+ BAM!! TAKE MY MONEY!!
after checkout.. wait.. That was $400!!

  • I'm deciding if I should grab a 24L as well before calling it a day… What should I do?

  • i think gray's website has been hacked… it's kinda impossible the sold out items keep coming back without gray's staff monitoring the website. let's say the gray's staffs have been monitoring the website, why didn't they clarify if it's the price error or something else? it's very obvious some of the prices are a lot lower than the current market price and it's getting more and more suspicious to me now… don't get me wrong… i ordered couple lenses myself too but i just don't understand why the sold out items disappeared on the website and came back again and again?? this is the third or fourth time since the first time they sold out… just my 2 cents though… hmm… what do u guys think? :/

    • They state that the ordering system is "fully automated"; it's possible that their system is just doing an automated stock check with their Asian supplier at regular intervals and releasing stock to their website when it sees it as available.

As for why they haven't corrected the error, it's Australia Day long weekend and they probably don't have many staff on hand — there's a fair chance they still don't know about this. GraysOnline isn't a particularly competent company from my past dealings with them. :)

    • Gray's charged me $1 on my AME card when I fill in the payment information, then I received a fraud alert from AME regarding fraud protection. hmm… what do u guys think? :/

      • I think it's not unusual for retailers to put a test $1 hold on your card (or some other nominal amount) to verify if the card is valid — and it's also not unusual for such small transactions to be flagged by credit card fraud protection because fraudsters like using small transactions to verify card validity. That's what Citibank fraud protection told me last week, when Expedia did a test $1 hold on my card when I booked a few thousand in flights with them.

So I wouldn't be too concerned, but to be on the safe side it's probably better to pay with PayPal.

    • just got one, fingers cross…

non-IS.. it might require a tripod to get sharp shots in low light!

Wish I could be a fly in the wall at grays tomorrow. Someone's going to get in big trouble!

      • haha…fly on the wall. You crack me up. Lots of unhappy people tomorrow when we are all told graysonline went bankrupt and funds are restricted by the administrator. :)

  • Both Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM IS and non IS were in my checkout but have now got the out of stock label. I can't see any of the L series lens bargains that were there less that two hours ago.

    • i got the is for like 1200 :)

    • Hahhahaa, less than 2 hours ago. We have many comedians on here tonight :) Mate, these go fast, but dont cry, none of us will get them I feel. Anyone works for graysonline to give us the likelyhood of orders going through?

  • their support line operates from 8:30am AEST, will check out WTH it going on tomorrow morning

    • What are you going to say when you ring them? I know your prices were erroneous, but I want you to honor it anyways? :)

      • +7

DO NOT RING THEM! Seriously, the less attention bought to this the better. Once they're shipped, the game is over (in our favour). Ringing them only gives them the possibility to realise there's a problem.

        • +6

Can't stress this enough. Whenever there's a possible pricing error involved with a deal, you should NEVER CALL — wait at least a few business days for the retailer to make the first move. It's entirely possible they do not know about this, and won't know about this until the orders have already shipped.

What do you intend to ask them, anyway?

        • +5

got it, u guys are really professional, I'll sit tight

        • Nearly 6000 clicks for this deal. I suspect some people will be e-mailing / calling them…

      • +2

Yeah it doesn't really seem worth it drawing attention to your individual account. I'd sit quiet and wait until midday for the dispatch or order cancellation email and then call support if you feel it's necessary to follow up on the issue.

I mean, best case scenario if you call is nothing changes and the order may still get cancelled later on by another staff member. Worst case the guy on the phone realises it's a mistake, cancels your individual order over the phone while other peoples are being prepped for shipping if they don't pick up on the likely error.

  • 7 EOS 650D cameras left

  • Just picked up the Tamron 180mm f/3.5! Hope they Ship it i got reciepts and confirmation emails! FINGERS CROSSEDD!!

  • +1

There are only a few anomalies now. There is a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM which completely over-priced. Also the canon 28mm f/1.8 USM is still very cheap. Good luck to the guy who got those 70-200mm L lenses.
