I've never been the one to cancel and take the cheap buyout… But yeah that'll annoy some people for sure!
I thought HN is going to be a better deal this time around since JB has increased the repayment fee, but HN makes it worse this time.
JB trade bonus may be of value, especially when going pro/xl to cover the gap payment. However my cracked rear glass on my 8 pro means it has sfa trade value (still gets the $350 bonus tho).
@mattman: That'd be awesome deal if you can stack trade-in bonus + gift card + JB mobile plan(making it $1750 off + bonus $350 gift card for the PRO XL), but I don't think that'd be the case. We'll see tomorrow if someone got lucky stacking those deals
@yummypinacolada: You won't get the preorder gift card bonus. But should be able to stack the $350 trade bonus offer.
@mattman: IIRC last year for the 9 series, you still received the preorder gift card bonus on top of the discount from the JB Mobile plan as the gift card was a Google thing which just translated to a JB Gift Card (according to my sales rep). Stacking the trade bonus not entirely sure since I never did it, but perhaps they've changed it this year. Will have to see
@star-ggg: Ah right, forgot about that weird release cycle for 9 series… assumed it was the same for 9P/9PF for 9/9PXL but guess not. Could be different since 10/10P/10PXL are on the same cycle, I assume they might not give the gift card for the 10PF then if it follows last year.
@mattman: I did my pre-order yesterday , used my trade-in coupon and got 350GC . Now I am seeing comments many stores not allowing to use the trade-in coupon with 99 plan.
Better check w with the store before signing up.

I went back to the original staff I spoke to today, they were very clear about not being able to do it. Idk what happened yesterday or if I just wasn't clear enough about the trade bonus coupon.
@mattman: Yes , I was able to use the trade in coupon($350), trade-in value gift card ($60)and $1400 GC from JB . I scanned the gift card first and then tried the coupon, they couldn't do, so they cancelled my docket, generated a new one and entered the coupon first then trade-in GC and $1400 GC They also handed over me the $350 GC as well. I guess I was the first one to pre-order and staffs were not clear on TCs .

I did cancel my trade (since it seemed this policy was strict) but technically still have the coupon. Idk If it'll still work lol but will try another store tomorrow.
@yummypinacolada: Hey mate I just spoke to them in store (ymmv but they seemed confident) that everything stacks together.
Just check the trade value and make sure that is still reasonable incl the bonus.
Just found out my cracked rear glass p8p is a PITA to fix so $370 incl the bonus is probably the best I'll get.
@mattman: I think that's as good as it gets. Better get it today if you really want it, because when deal like this started often JB staffs are still not clear with all the T&Cs of stacking deals. With previous P9Pro XL pre-order a handful of people are able to stack the deal, but majority of them can't because you are not supposed to.
However, this time around the deal is much worse if we compare it to last year. Best case scenario for P9ProXL was you pay $766 + you get $350 gc bonus. This year you $966 for ETC - Additional $247 out of pocket(or $223 if using GC) + you get $400 gc bonus.

To make it worse (for me at least) I went back to sign up and was told you actually can't stack the trade-in bonus (just the basic trade value).
So idk. I might still try another store.

@mattman: JB Trade-In offers very poor value unfortunately.. Example only::A S25 512GB only gets $630, compared to the likes of MobileGuru who offer $890 for the same.
This offer is not available in conjunction with any other JB Hi-Fi mobile or broadband offer.

So the total for P10P 128gb is
$99(could be refunded) + $966 = $1165 then on top of this they got bonus $350GC + $53GC remaining from $1400-$1347

@JDKC: they can confirm but from the offer last time, you have to stay a min number of months on the contract to get a lower etc otherwise you payout extra which is the value of the gift card
makes jb way more appealing as you just have the base etc with no penalty for not staying min term

Yes. Only to emergency services at the moment. Pixel 9 series also had this feature rolled out.
Just spoke to staff in store and they were quite confident you get the preorder gc and also compatible with trade bonus.

Edit, compared to doing nothing and sitting on aldi with my p8p, and assuming the preorder gc is $400 value (which it isn't exactly) im still paying ~$1500 for the phone itself over 2 years.
It's not terrible exactly, but still doesn't feel like an absolute bargain. Wish HN/Optus would get their act together.
Went back to sign up and got told by another staff member that the trade bonus does not stack with mobile plan offers. You can use the basic trade value no problems, just not the extra promotion stuff.

Aldi does do RCS. I'm on woolworths and my mum is on Aldi and we can use RCS to each other. It's been carrier agnostic since Google set up their own RCS server.

This year’s deal is quite disappointing. Previously JB was offering a $1700 voucher on the $99 plan, and if cancelled straight away, you could walk out with a brand new Pixel 9 Pro for ~$865. That's pretty hard to beat.
Now voucher dropped to a $1400 and cancellation fee is bumped to $1k, so it gives around $1,100 with the OZBargain method + the difference between voucher and phone price tag - $297 for the 128GB P10 Pro.
On top of that, phone prices are inflated and there’s barely any difference between the Pixel 9 Pro and 10 Pro. Upgrading just doesn’t feel worth it this round.I paid $142 upfront (+99 for first month on the plan).

For anyone in Sydney, I tried the galleries this morning and they immediately said no to stacking, then I tried the strand where I did it last year and they initially said no problem but the woman behind the counter refused to accept it, after I had signed up to the plan.
So what did you end up with? Did they cancel the plan for you and refunded everything? Bit crap if they say yes and then no after you already signed up. I would have argued that I would never sign up if that was the case.
Also wondering if it's possible to cancel the trade in if you end up not going ahead, does anyone know if it possible ?
When I tried in the shop they said they were happy to email the trade in partner and ask to cancel and refund the gift card. So should be possible.

Get it in next 3 days , $400 GC offer ends on 1st Sept. You can also trade-in old/current device and get a GC for the trade -in value and that can be used towards the payment as well.

do the trade-in process online before going to JB so you can use the bonus trade-in and the gift card they issue in exchange for the device then you mail the device back using shipping label they send you
however the 350 being accepted with 1400 port in is hit and miss as some people managed to get it but most haven't, including myself despite going to the same store someone else did get it but you can use the gift card valued for trade in
