    Ultra-thin but still robust. Mmm…

    • Came here looking for comments, first one did not disappoint

    • It's not about the size, it's about how you use it.
Mum says my 4U looks pretty big

    • Who'd have thunk we would have thin yet strong steel in 2025. 🤯

Secure? Wave rake should do the trick…

Only 400 deep. 600 is more compatible with the average switch. Still a great buy if you don''t need the depth

    • For their similar product

      Reviewer:
"Listing has misleading and incorrect specs"

"Product page is wrong, Picture shows 40cm depth, spec list show 64cm depth. actual product is 30cm depth basically doesnt fit anything in it. my network switch just fits but no room behind to plug the power cable in."

      • +1

40cm is product depth (i.e. from front of door panel to back, 30cm is about maximum usable depth as you lose depth from the frame/door etc. but yeah I would never order one that is less than 600mm really as not much fits in something that shallow.

  • Do people use this at home? If yes, what type of devices you are putting in there? It still looks big for home use.
I'm looking for a solution for my FTTP NBN box, router, a 8-port switch (for the cameras). Not sure what's a lower cost but tidy solution.
    Thanks

I am also looking for a 10" mini rack to stuff my Lenovo Tiny / Dell Micro, QNAP NAS and OzBargain sourced cheap TP-Link switches into. Something similar DeskPi RackMate but these aren't cheap.

3D Printed Lab Rax is the way

You can do the 5U or extend to 10U.

I made two, one for my main services and another for my reolink NVR.

          Home Lab
          - Dell Micro
          - POE Switch
          - Raspberry Pi 5
          - 2.5G Switch
          - Patch panel

          NVR Station
          - Reolink NVR
          - 3.5" HDD Bay
          - 3U space left, for switch, patch panel and anything else.

          • @impoze: This may be the reason I buy a 3D printer (Well, the final straw in a series).

If only I could mount full enterprise depth (90cm/35") items in it…

            • +1

@madu187: You can, someone has already made the adjustable depth spacers

              • @impoze: I'm sold.
Looks like I'm spending the weekend researching 3D printers.

          • @impoze: what do you use for Raspberry Pi 5?

            • @ljp379: I already had it so I just put it in the rack.

              Currently not much

              • secondary adguard DNS
              • uptime-kuma

I run something similar to this for NBN, Firewall, Patch Panel, POE Switch, server and Raspberry Pi

      https://www.4cabling.com.au/4cabling-4ru-w600mm-x-d600mm-hin…

They have lots of options based on your wallet and requirements.

    • I have a similar one i found on facebook for $40.
I have an ethernet patch panel that runs to my door cam and cameras.
Also houses the switch and a small firewall.

I 3D printed an adaptor for the top that connects it to a 50mm pvc pipe that goes up into the roof that i run my ethernet cables through

  • This is purely for home use, using it even in a small business setting would be pushing it - unless you’re cutting corners. Keep this junk out of enterprise environments - trust me.

    Great for a cctv dvr

    • +2

Don't know why you've been neged, but with its size it's great JUST for dvr.

Amazon have what appears to be the same unit for $82.99 delivered, which is more than $75 but definitely not "around ~$130 plus delivery".

    • that for me has at least two different $5 coupon codes, so is much closer in price

      • Indeed, for me there's a $10 coupon and a $5 coupon.

  • is there a way you can put a fan in .. to keep the device cool ?

    • I've got 6U and easily fit Serveredge 2 way fan kit.

  • +1

perfect for someone that ran out of room on the fridge. But not much else going to get a router/switch in there and maybee a mesh device. Its barely half a foot of space. Any one needing this little space may be better looking at a 10" rack

I run a 12u but least it holds a NAS and UPS. Which im pretty sure is same brand and was $109 from memory

    • Not everyone wants to cram a datacentre in their garage.

      • 12ru is under 2ft hardly a data center.

Small Nas such as Synology with a little ups. That takea up bottom half. Fills up pretty fast.

  • From the picture I bought a larger 8ruone of these off amazon. It came as a flatpack and while it works it is pretty flimsy compared to my other main cabinet and has a lot less depth. Spacing between front and back uprights is only 185mm

  • +1

I was about to say it would be useful for a patch panel, but where would you put the switch?

I will never ever buy from harvey norman again!

Cannot return products when they are faulty, they make it excruciating to deal with and pass the buck constantly.

Went to store, told to go online, go online they say go to store, go to store they say not them - beyond useless and exactly like dealing with the government - "your problem not ours mentality"

Never again - they are on my Shit list and caveat emptor for everyone else.

      details:
Bought some brass overflow rings to finish off our bathroom renovations - they're relatively cheap at $20 each (we bought 2, so $40)
I measured extensively beforehand with digital calipers, measurements were right from the website down to the mm.
      I receive the wrong size.
Online says to contact them within 14 days.

Went to the local store - they waste 60 minutes of my life and tell me to go online,
I contact them online, eventually receive a response online, back and forth (to waste time and not give a refund)
They eventually say go to store,
Go to store 60 minutes later they say not them because online store has a different ABN - (same website)

FFS they are unused and they dont fit because you either didnt measure correctly or published the incorrect measurements on your website.
I've given up 4+ hours to possibly get $40 back.

I bought some others from somewhere else (they fit)

What should have been an easy process was like dealing with the government (full of incompetent sycophants that are there to collect a pay check, incapable of independent thought and the ability to actually achieve something).

You won this time Gerry Harvey, you useless (profanity)

  • free from marketplace in most cases
