Cheapest I've managed to find them. Still not particularly cheap for a fly killer I guess, but I hate flies so happy to pay it if it does the job.

Could be a good Father's day gift too

$74.50 before the code which takes a further 10% off

Push that button till their tiny bodies explode, and the foul stench of burnt insect carcass pervades the air…

      • Mmm I love the smell of roast fly in the morning

I've had them knocked out and then when you zap them they come back alive, like it was a defib machine. But agree it seems less messy than salt all around too

  • Do these work on mozzies?

    • Yes….but not as well as flies. Maybe less surface area. There was a mozzie outbreak a few months back and it came out of summer retirement. Good for when they land on ceiling.

Wasn't even aware you could buy these outside of the official site (not counting the Ali knock-offs). Honestly love these but not that impressed with the quality of the originals.

I've had 3 fail, with two different issues with the all-plastic parts inside. Service was good though and got replacements twice, one even outside warranty. The symptom is the same for both faults - they refuse to cock. I even posted a review and video on the official site but it didn't get posted…

Last week I managed to make one working gun by cannibalising another one with a different broken part.

There's a couple of Youtube videos where they've managed to repair the commonly broken bits.

It's worth getting the laser sights.

  • I'm not sure I get it, don't you end up with spritz of salt all over your house and furniture?

    • Nope. You're getting it. I wouldn't be using this around my TV.

  • What's the point of this over a can of bug spray?

  • A lot of positives. Any negative reviews? Seems like it's okay for ppl.

    • I feel one of these is less trouble and less mess - https://www.amazon.com.au/GameXcel-Zapper-Electric-Swatter-M…

I picked one up from the local chinese nick-nack store for about $5. Press, swat, zap, pick up dead body.

    • I posted about my issues above.

I still love them though, especially with the laser sight.

      • Thanks. Did you buy at official site to get the warranty? I'm assuming warranty is 2 years? Did you have to pay to deliver the gun for service?

        • Yes official site. 1 year warranty, though as a I mentioned, I got a replacement outside this period for one of mine.

They sent me a whole replacement gun - there are no parts or servicing and there was no charge.

  • Anyone from NSW and ACT able to get theirs? On Supercheat Auto "Please Note: Due to legislative requirements this product is not available for sale in NSW and ACT."

I have received mine today. Wife said there is a big fly. I pulled out the rifle and killed after being stunned by the first shot. Wife approved :).

  • I didn’t realise how much I needed this until I saw this post. Anyone comment on the AliExpress models? Are there any good? There are some quite a bit cheaper.

    • Yep. Have got three off AliExpress (semi regularly available for under US$20 after coupons) and they are indistinguishable from my $80 original…

      • thx can you provide a link to one of the copies you got?

      • Hello?

          • @UncleRico: Thx for trying but link doesn’t work

@Captain Hindsight: You can’t post Ali links in OzBargain.

Cut and paste the two pieces together. Or just type “fly + salt + gun” in the Ali search bar.

          • @UncleRico: Looks like a copy of an older version.

            • @gadgetguy: Can you post a link to a newer version? I purchased 4 of the genuine v3 bug a salts and they are near identical from the 3 I’ve got this year from Ali - all from different sellers but all indistinguishable from each other or the current model being sold locally. If there’s a newer model available, I’d love to get one!

@UncleRico: On the pictures on the Ali link, the hopper looks like the old, round shape (hard to tell exactly) and the safety looks like a switch, that maybe you rotate(?). These look like the v2.5 version.

On the V3 the hopper is larger and rectangular and the safety is a small push button, rather than a switch.

This is assuming the Ali pics are accurate.

  • Spudshed in Jandakot are selling a knock off version for $49.
