yeah just $300
that's like 20 pints of beer at the pub
It's roughly 100% increase. In the vast majority of cases, you don't get anywhere near 100% performance increase.
These are just different cards for different use cases.
If you're a retro gamer, you'd be nuts to spend $650 on this over the 5050.
@incipient: If you're a retro gamer you could game on any gpu released in the last 10 years. If going the emulation route you'll be heavily cpu dependant.
..or like 16.6666% on the price of a iphone 16 Pro. it's next to nothing :P
True. I betrayed myself.
i miss the days when $300 got you pretty much a whole-ass x60ti gpu
@kaybrr: Paid $500ish for the 560ti in 2012.
Paid $800 for the 780ti a few years later
Paid $899 for the 2080ti before COVID hit.
@hawktalk: I'm still using the 1070 I paid $556 for in 2016. Will probably upgrade when the 6000 series is released.
Lol
actually not bad, 10% slower than 4070 but like $150-200 cheaper when they were in stock.
Lol, slower than a 3080 that you coulda bought for cheaper 2 years ago ahaha.
I don't believe that's true. Can you provide a link?
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080
While they're technically wrong from your link, they're also still kinda right.
The 5060ti is around 40% slower than the 3080. Those deals posted show the 3080 as 35% more expensive than the 5060ti, showing that for your dollar, the 3080 was still better.
I guess you could argue inflation etc, but I think it just shows everyone's discontent with the GPU market at the moment, especially when it comes to Nvidia.
Still a great price overall for what you can get these days, but yeah, a shit time to be in the market.
Where are you the idea it's 40% slower than an RTX 3080?
Slower? Yes. 40%? No.
@Wahnsinn: I stand corrected. And honestly, even with the correction, I still stand by that although this deal is good, GPU pricing these days is such that OPs clear frustration is right. We just aren't seeing enough jumps to justify the baseline costs of these cards
@Confabulatron: Tbh I agree the pricing of GPU these days aren't good and the jump between generation isn't justified, it's been like this for many years already. The best recent GPU generation was the GTX 10 series, from RTX onward there are complains every generation. 3080 in particular was criticized painfully because it starts the trend of different vram on the same gpu tier. 50 series pricing could have been better, yes. But if you consider the situation right now is frustrated then go back to covid time, it's like doomsday lol.
Shouldve said rx 6800xt. But they are basically equivelant performance.
Price drop a little further and I'm in šš
This or the cheapest 9060xt 16 GB($579)?which is $85ish less.
Depends.
Iād buy the 9060XT if I valued Linux compatibility, which is key for SteamOS/Bazzite PCs.
Is it safe to buy GPUs from eBay?
Of course
From reputable sellers, yes. From random people, still most likely yes.
Thanks OP! Was looking at getting a Zotac variant ($719 @ Scorptec) in the next week, but this will do nicely!
Man I was happy with the price, clicked on the link then found out it doesn't post to me. š„²š„²
Are these 2 fan versions noisier than 3 fan versions? any other differences?
no … I paid $670 several days ago
$5 is less than 1% difference. You can enjoy for several extra days.
I'm getting old, man. I remember back in like 2011 when $700 would buy you top-of-the-range gear.
GPU pricing is insane.
yep… I'm still running a 2080ti (which I inherited from my dad who was crazy into his flight sims) as my daily driver as I refuse to pay this insane pricing.
My dad doesn't even know how to use a mobile phone.
Love hearing this š not enough parents do things that give that ability to connect with the younger gen
My original plan was to re-purpose my 2080ti into whatever new pc I was going to buy and build. While I've been doing some "heavy" gaming on my gaming laptops over the last 4 years…… my most rotated games would have easily still run on the older video card (GTA V, Dark Souls, Rocket League etc). However in the last fortnight I finally bit the bullet after years of not being able to decide - wound up with a 7800X3D and paired with a 5070ti. It's not the crem de la crem, but I'm content with it. Still melts games like butter!
nice build. Sensible purchase. Go any higher and it starts getting stupid $$$
back in 2011 $200 would get you a perfectly good mid-range "60" series card.
I paid $759 for a 5970 in 2010 and I cried a little after the purchase went through. Lasted me till 2019 though which was nice.
You were BALLIN' man! For an insane birthday gift, I got a 7870 which saw me til about 2018 before I made big-boy money.
These days it feels like you have to upgrade every 2-4 years just to experience the frames you're used to getting. Back then, it was EASILY 5 years and then some.
This is a bargain?? US RRP is $429 which works out to $667 AUD.
I'll wait for Black Friday weekend specials - will we see them??
Tbf, Australia rarely gets RRP for any computer gear, particularly GPUs. Just how it's always been.
Matching US prices is generally a deal.
Then how come I bought a Geforce GTX 660 for $218 in December 2012, when the US RRP was $230 (AUD$218 at the exchange rate of the time).
Maybe it's because you bought it at 2012 not 2025 dude, you answer yourself. Times sure fly and things change right?
US prices are usually tax-free, as states have different tax rates.
Some states don't have any sales tax.
@MrZ US $429 works out to $733 AUD - you forgot that we pay GST, you need to add 10% on to the currency conversion.
This is a bargain because it's 10% cheaper than the equivalent US price.
Buy a used 3080 would be more solid than this
IF you have a PSU that can handle it. 3080 requires a 750W+ while the 5060 Ti only requires a 650W.
is PNY's hardware failure rate high?
Any thoughts if it would be worth the upgrade from a 1660 ti?
Oof not bad. Just +$300 from the 5050 and you get the 16gb to boot.
