Good deal for current time, thanks for posting. It feels like not long ago it was $0.60 per can.

That's exactly why I switched to sodastream. Just wish there was a coke zero syrup readily available. Pepsi max is just about passable

      • +7

The flavours all taste off to me. I tried it but couldn't get used to it.

      • +1

I tried both Pepsi regular and Pepsi Max sodastream, they were both terrible, nothing like the real stuff, with a weird aftertaste.

It was until the massive wholesale price increase of 2022 where prices went up 40+% overnight.

Remember kirks 10 packs being an everyday price below $7…I do.

It has only gone up since then, the most recent one this year

        Pepperidge farm remembers.

It was until the massive wholesale price increase of 2022 where prices went up 40+% overnight.

And do you remember why that happened?

  • Thanks Op, previous sub had crept up to 18.50

I felt like ordering from Amazon, the coke taste a bit inferior to ones getting from local supermarket, I believe the storage isn't stored at optimal room temperature?

    • +1

Return it if not good. I did this with my popcorn. They actually just sent me a new one and told me to throw the other one out.

      • +1

They don't accept "food" for return, citing food safety concerns. Usually they just refund the money paid back to me instead.

    • +1

They might be close to use by date. I had a box delivered that was about a month from expiry and the cans tasted flat, contacted Amazon and got a full refund.

    • I've noticed Pepsi max when ordered from Amazon tastes different too, I think it's slightly flat but could be temperature related as well

Almost $1 per can. Feels expensive.

    • +15

Coke under $1 per can is cheap these days.

      • Yep sure is sadly.

    • +2

Have you seen how much they cost at vending machines? Almost $5.

Have you seen how much they charge at food court outlets? Almost-almost $5.

      • $5 for a 600mL bottle from the vending at Brisbane Airport surprisingly

        • +1

Bottles. Maybe that's what I was thinking of. But still. I bring my own Cokes to work because I refuse to pay that much for a sugar hit at a food court.

          • +1

@BadGiraffe: last time i bought a box to work, half got stolen over night. I reckon security did it.

            • @Frozensage: Sorry to hear that, but that's so ironic I chuckled.

I take a can in whenever I go in. It stays in my bag until lunch. It stays cool enough. And if there's ice in the freezer there, I have it in a glass or mug.

    • The target used to be 50c a can :(

    • Man, I'm literally buying directly from coke and I don't even get it for $1 a can

  • Haven't purchased coke for a long while. Only got a few left so thought I should stock up. Has gone up a lot though!

      • +7

It's been 10 cent rebate in SA for decades coke was still 50 cents a can 10 years ago.

        • -3

coke was still 50 cents a can 10 years ago.

When it was 40 cents in NSW.
See how that works? Or do you think money is free?

        • -1

your maths is not mathing, it was 40c in NSW when it was 50c in SA

      • Government policy in other words.

      • +1

thanks to inflation, covid and that stupid 10c rebate

        • -2

What do you think causes inflation? Magic fairies?

Inflation is just another word for price increases. Covid lockdown policies and the 10c refund were direct causes of price increases in 2021/2022 and 2017 respectively. It's not magic. The more you vote for stuff like this, the more prices will continue to rise.

  • Do these cans expire in September?

I want to get this but I feel bad for delivery guy if I order heavy stuff like this online, is it just me?

    • +12

      Yep, just you.

    • +1

Amazon will pack 40 cans in one box and slap a "heavy" sticker on it. If weight was a concern they wouldn't ship them all together. I've noticed they often come in a separate delivery to my smaller parcels, even on the same day.

    • just you buz

    • You feel bad about giving someone a paying job?

  • +6

Just to share my personal experience and warning, about ~50% of my Amazon deliveries of these over the last year have been sub-par. In many cases there have been exploded or cracked cans which have soaked the box, and in others the contents have tasted bad or flat. I've stopped my S&S and just get them from Woolies when they go on special now.

    • +1

      Sounds like my experience.

Amazon now don't deliver a lot to my area anyway since the enshittification changes so the only cans I can get are the warehouse specials (go figurel)

    • +2

My personal experience is I've ordered plenty of Coke and Monster off Amazon and I've never had a can explode/cracked. I have had a few cans with dents so they obviously do get manhandled somewhat.

      • +1

Yeah, I suspect it is very dependent on the delivery chain and could even just be a few rough individuals. I had no issues for a solid 6 months, then had several in succession, and then a mix. I had to stop ordering canned drinks because it was too problematic, but my glass ones (Bundaberg drinks) have been fine the whole time.

    • -1

Thanks for the heads-up, but I feel like you lost some credibility when you said you "stopped my S&S".
I literally have NEVER kept a sub and save going. That's exactly what they want you to do, set and forget, right?

      • -1

That's a weird statement. Why would I stop it if there wasn't an issue? The S&S was delivering on the cadence that I wanted and was working out to be the most cost-effective option for me. I keep S&S going for the items that I want to receive on a recurring basis, exactly as it is intended to work…

Also, you get a notification before every shipment, so I just indicate to skip a shipment if it isn't the right time. Not sure why you think it is some big brain move to manually order each time.

        • +1

Fair call. Sorry, didn't mean to be offensive. Whatever works for you. I guess I hate the idea that I could miss the shipment notification when an s&s order is ready to be shipped, and as most products obviously spend more time at their standard pricing than they do at their "price matching Coles/Woolies/Big W" pricing etc, so I am bound to pay more accidentally eventually. Apologies again.

        • The price doesn’t stay locked in for the subscription. So it’s often charging double the original price. Are you okay with that?

          • +3

@mightyboy: You get a notification if there is a price change, and my Coke Zero S&S stayed the same for the entire 12+ months. It's not rocket science, if the price goes up, you just cancel. Obviously, I'm not continuing a subscription if the price increases significantly, I am an OzBargainer after all.
