Combine with 30% cashback from WW EM via TopCashback

By my calculations, 30% cashback should track at $109.08 after excluding GST element, meaning this is $290.91 delivered after cashback.

This is a competitive deal standalone, compared to the current deal at $379 delivered or previous deals about $399.

I bit the bullet on this ahead of NBN upgrades in a couple of weeks :)

  • @ts13 GST is included for cashback with EM.

    • Good to know. Mine has tracked at $120 which includes GST but I won’t count my blessings until it’s confirmed!

      • how long did it take for your cashback to track?

        • Between my order confirmation email and my tracking confirmation email, 21 minutes.

What is the point of a 10Gbe uplink with only 2.5Gbe downstream? Does WiFi 7 utilise the remainder of the 10G?

    • The 6GHz WiFi 7 band supports up to 5.7 Gbps (but that requires WiFi 7/320Mhz channel width) so 2.5Gbps upstream isn't enough. However, we are really talking about NAS or a server with 10Gbp LAN port.

For my 2.5Gbps upstream WiFi 7 based setup, I was only able to get 1.9Gbps on 6GHz band. However, a friend has 10Gbps based WiFi 7 setup, he can get over 3.5Gbps on 6GHz. However, the 6GHz range is quite limited (basically need to be in the same room as the router / access point) and 10Gbps NAS or server isn't cheap.

However, there is a reviewer who indicated despite using 10Gbps WAN port for the upstream, he was not able to get > 2.5Gbps on 6GHz.

      • im in the same boat, Wifi 7 / 320Mhz channel width / 6ghz; maxes out around 1.8-1.9Gbps, in the same room with like -25dBm signal. I'm sure in some lab setting wifi 7 goes up to 5.7Gbps but I doubt thats the case in the real world.. just like how wifi 5 is theoretically up to 1.7Gbps.

If anyone really needs 10Gbps, it's probably going to have to be wired for now. I've got a little nook in my network that is 10gbe. Plus its just so, so much more cheaper.

        • Yeah, 10Gbps LAN, if your house is wired up, 1 switch can power up at least the rooms that need 10Gbps. WiFi 7 / 6GHz / 320Mhz width needs like 1 access point in every room you needs that speed (and if you want 10Gbps upstream support, that requires each room to have 2 ethernet ports (otherwise one 10Gbps switch per room will be required)).

    • Why not just swap it around in software?

Technically this would work to be able to use the U7 Pro XG too

      • not sure how that would be beneficial

        • Our residential NBN will only support up to 2Gbps (after September upgrade and that requires an NTD upgrade) so using the 2.5Gbps for WAN and 10Gbps for LAN is better here in Australia. You could still have 10Gbps LAN setup (for 10Gbps LAN based NAS, PCs, Macs etc…).

  • Lol when did woolies start selling Ubiquiti stuff?

    • +1

It's not Woolies. It is MobileCiti sold on Woolworths' Everyday Market "marketplace" platform.

still pretty funny seeing "people who bought this Wifi 7 router also bought bananas"

I think the Unifi Dream Machine 7 is a better buy for a bit more.

It’s more than a bit more at $561

        Udm7 has wifi :)

  • Any Poe+ ports?

  • is that a type c power port ?

    • @AeymothSky

      Yep.

But even if it wasn't, you could still power it from USB C with one of these - https://www.amazon.com.au/Adapter-Female-5-5x2-1mm-Emulator-… - or from PoE power with one of these https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07TJ3ZNJ4 (I do this with my Ubiquiti router to power it from the PoE switch that sits right next to it).

There are plenty of these adaptors around, it's trivial to convert to and from the different DC power methods - just make sure you match the voltage and the connector size.

  • How does the Flint 3 GL.iNet BE9300 stack up against this Ubiquiti box? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/920987

We got our gl.inet router Monday and I've been playing around with the settings. Got a Yoga Pro 7i aura edition with wifi 7 connected at over 5.8gbps but as others have said, this is only from close range. And in my use case that bandwidth isn't particularly helpful.

Still it's a relatively inexpensive piece of kit with decent feature set.
