Reached out to MC and the chef has cooked up some specials for us.

The Pixel Watch is an ALL TIME LOW and beats this ATL deal by a huge margin. Credits to @hamza23 for the description of the watch (link here) if anyone is interested.

There's a few more in addition to these deals but that's all I have for now :)

    But is it any good?

    • +44

No, pixel watch one will be end of support on Oct this year. Two months away from now on the turn into e-rubbish.

      • +4

Will it really become rubbish after end of support?

        • +13

Google seem more than happy to break features of their smart watch range. They were killing off Fitbit while still selling the units.

          • +6

@mpember: I have a fitbit scale whose features are useless as it won't connect via Bluetooth any more.

          • +8

@mpember: Mods, It seems we need a new tag for soon-to-be e-rubbish items or at least a marker for official end-of-life or end-of-support dates.

          • @mpember: I have a Pixel watch. (profanity) google for gating features that should be free behindd their fitbit app thing.

I prefer my Amazfit watch and will never buy another google watch.

That said, for $100 its ok

        Dead Pixel

I have been wearing the Pixel watch 1 daily since release almost 3 years ago, and I still love it, had no issues other than the battery life, which has improved over updates. It is still getting updates, recently upgraded from Google Assistant to Gemini. The watch face looks really good, and while it appears fragile, is actually quite tough.

      • +1

yea my second one is fine. first one's back plate fell off lol

      • +2

^ This. And I absolutely adore the default watch face. Google knocked it out of the park with that one.

      • Hi, is the back of the watch made of metal? Thanks

        • it has a glass backing

    • does it work with an iphone?

  • +1

Good price for a younger kid or an older kid. The strip alone could cost 100 bucks.

    • +7

      What about a middle-aged kid?

      • +4

        Average price

Xiaomi smart band 9 pro is waaaay better for this price, mine lasts almost 2 weeks between charges

    • +2

Yep, and you can get it for like $75 on AliExpress.

      • +1

Got a link to a recommended seller at that price?

        • I paid $100 on amazon for the quick delivery and peace of mind, if you go for an extra run or two in the time it takes for the watch to arrive from Aliexpress then you would certainly be ahead

        • +1

          Amazon has it for $101.45
I just bought a Redmi Watch 5 Lite for less than $70

    • +1

the bad thing about this is it does not have nfc support

    • Is the Xiaomi smart band a fitness tracker or a smart watch?
I see it says it runs on Wear OS 3 - does that mean full (for Wear OS) access to Google Play store apps?
And does it have Google Asistant / Gemini?

I was on the verge of getting the TicWatch Pro 5!

I’m a huge fan of Pixel phones, but honestly, I think Google should just stop making the Pixel Watch. After four versions, they still haven’t fixed the issues or made it a smartwatch that’s actually worth the money.

    • +2

      What issues specifically?

      • +2

Very short battery life, buggy updates, weak fitness tracking with almost no new features in four years, outdated chips, and older models that nearly impossible to repair.

        • +6

It's improved in all those areas

    • +8

Love my pw2, not a single issue.

      • Same. Battery could be a little better.

Currently wearing a PW2LTE and very happy with it. After the AW10, they're the most accurate smartwatches on the market

  • Given the pixel watch 4 is coming, any deals on a 3?

  • +2

Can you load music to the internal storage for offline music at the gym? How many GB is the internal storage? Currently the ticwatch e3 with 4gb storage works well for this but need a backup in case it fails.

    • Just buy samsung fit, if you are using samsung phone

      • I'm not tied to Samsung phone though, I'm using a pixel 9 phone at the moment. Would the $100 Samsung fit still be good with a Pixel phone and have 4GB storage for offline music? Cheers

  • +3

As someone who actually uses a P1 watch, it works perfectly fine for me. Doesn't lag, even with heaps of widgets and moderate use I get the full fat and night for sleep tracking. Only charge while I have a shower in the morning. And this is now 3 years old battery.

  • Does the light strip come with a powersupply and wifi module or is it an extension for an existing tapo setup?

    • +1

Yes it includes the power supply and wifi module

      • Thanks.

  • interested in light strip. But just wondering, is it only works with dedicated power source or batteries can do trick. Thinking to put around the photo wall but no plug connection there.

    • It plugs in.

  • Code is live early (now)

  • Go to go

  • +1

Got my watch. Thanks for posting.

  • Thx OP - got one.

  • Thanks OP got the light strip :)

  • +1

Neat. Thanks OP. I've kinda wanted a watch for tap and pay for ages. I hate getting my phone out of my pocket to tap and pay like some kind of weird loser.

    • +2

Everyone is watching, laughing and pointing at you

      • +1

Imagine having to reach into your pocket to get something. It's 2025.

  • Plus 1 cos it made me buy the Xiaomi smart band 9 pro XD

  • Seems to allow more than one use per item

    • One discount on one item max per transaction.

    • It's okay, older gen wifi setup.

We actually moved away from this to Deco, because Google for no reason doesn't allow band-splitting, which makes setting up smart devices extremely difficult

      • Which model Deco did you go with?

  • So can someone please explain to me about the Tapo Light Strip - Lets say I want to put this under a bench top that is 2.5 meters. Am I essentially cutting off 2.5 meters of it and then that becomes rubbish?
(I.e. whatever of the length isnt needed is easy to cut and then just needs to be disposed)
