Unless you want those Ryobi branded trinkets stuff (hey not judging, I collect this sorta stuff too lol) I think a price-matched-to-Aldi-later brushless hammer drill plus 4Ah kit would be better value.
2Ah battery is not going to give you the best performance on many popular Ryobi tools, and the 4Ah deal includes a charger already too.
How could I price match an aldi item to ryobi?
I think a price-matched-to-Aldi-later brushless hammer drill plus 4Ah kit would be better value.
Not Ryobi though?
The winner with Ryobi is the ecosystem if you already have a bunch of tools. I got one of these last sale as it was only $10 more than just the battery by itself.
I prefer the 2Ah batteries because I only do casual DIY so never need hours of charge. And the smaller lighter battery is easier to work with, and faster charging so if you have a couple of them, the first battery charges by the time you've burnt through the second so you can just keep going
Just a note if you have to make a warranty claim you may have to return all items.
What a pain
This - I've stopped buying bundles of Ryobi after the last couple of failures - one of the 4 pack of 5Ah batteries died and they wanted all 4 back to do a replacement, then when my lawnmower stopped working they wanted the original battery and charger to do a swap out - was a massive PITA! Took a few conversations, it was eventually honoured once I found all the components thanks to the online warranty registration site.
Under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), the company or seller should honour the warranty for your drill, lawnmower or battery, even if you don't have the other parts from the bundle, because consumer guarantees state that goods must be of acceptable quality and fit for purpose, and have spare parts and repairs available for a reasonable time after purchase. If the seller cannot resolve the issue, they must provide a remedy, such as a refund or exchange, as the product has failed to meet a consumer guarantee.
@Northroo1: Australian Consumer Law is purposefully vague. Have you tried getting Fair Trading to help you when a business is acting unethically? It’s a nightmare and they have zero power to do anything really. I learnt long ago not to rely on our Consumer Laws.
Genuinely curious why this is annoying? Wouldn't it result in you getting 4x brand new batteries instead of one? Also, not only a new mower but the new battery and charger.
Aside from the increased consumption and disposal of otherwise working order items, it sounds like a good deal to me.
Was that through bunnings or Ryobi itself?
I've replaced items from bundles under warranty.
However, in both cases it might have been luck as the staff didn't know how to handle the bundle issue, and merely pulled the replacement item off the shelf and handed to me.
I had one just hand write it on the receipt, that it was upgraded. It was a circular saw
Can i connect brush attachments to this drill for cleaning?
Yep, this isn't a brushless drill
Nice one
That's about all this drill is good for. I got one as a replacement for a stolen drill. It's gutless. Took it back for a refund.
100%. I already had this (and other) Ryobi drills and didn't want to buy that separate handheld cleaner tool that they all use on The Block so just bought the brush attachments. Just remember not to put it into 'hammer' drill mode..
Ryobi have $hit the bed. I get given old battery pack to recoup the cells. Most common is Ryobi and Dyson.
Dyson cells are still good. Ryobi are shot.I bought a pole chainsaw. The lug holding the bar was plastic and sheered off. Chain went flying off and jammed (just what you want up a ladder high in a tree). Warranty had zero f's about their product not being fit for purpose and potentially dangerous. Made it stupidly hard to replace.
So I left the chainsaw showing the plastic lug highlighted in the Bunnings carport saying do not buy this dangerous crap.
Honestly, the XU1 combo is probably better. I now have an Aldi polesaw. Snapped the head on that too. But they sent me a replacement.
Replacement had the snapped part improved. Still going strong after about 60hrs use.
I'm still using one battery from 2016, but I mainly use the charger that reconditions etc. A few of the others from that time frame have said there is an error, but still work.
I'd hope a lithium battery from 2016 is still working perfectly.!
I have an XU1 $20 tool and battery that still works perfectly from 2002.
In fact, I have no failed lithium batteries ever yet (Aldi, Makita, XU1, Black and Decker…even SCA home brand from 2014).
Wait for this to go on clearance one week after Fathers day ;)
Doubt it'll get much cheaper considering the drill skin alone seems to run 99buk
Don't need the drill, just want the stubby holder.
Given how much I see those mini tool keychains priced alone or price of novelty socks generally, this doesn't seem that bad.
I bought it for the spirit level as Kincrome was $19.95???
Tnhis is good value, but if you plan on drilling into Masonry, pebblecrete etc a bit, buy a Rotary hammer, preferably corded.
We have a drill.
Then I learned that I should have actually got a "hammer drill".
What is a hammer drill, and bles that different to a rotary hammer?
A hammer drill can drill into masonry with the correct tip, but a rotary hammer does it better and quicker.
What’s the idea? Have some cold beer when you drill?
Good value.
Normally $129 if that helps anyone.
