Feeling a bit dirty posting about "hardly normal" but figured someone could get some use out of this, considering there are some locations where there aren't other options apart from HN.

Worst case, you could use this to price beat at the other store where you were planning on buying something.

GC can be used at HN, Domayne and Joyce Mayne.

T's and C's from the website:

Excludes Actron, AEG, ASKO, Falcon, Falmec, Fhiaba, Fisher & Paykel Cooking, Fisher & Paykel Dishwasher, Fisher & Paykel Built In Refrigeration, Fisher & Paykel Series 11 Laundry Appliances, Fulgor Milano, ILVE Majestic, ILVE Nostalgie, ILVE Professional, ILVE Professional Plus, ILVE Pro-Line, Liebherr, Loewe, Miele Kitchen, Miele Laundry, NEFF, Pitt, Schweigen X, Sirius Valentina, Smeg Diamond Dish Series, Smeg DSN, Smeg Fab Fridges, Smeg Integrated Refrigeration, Smeg Linea, Smeg Portofino, Smeg Victoria, Speed Queen, Whispair, Optus contracts, gaming subscriptions, gaming card activations, gaming currency, gift cards, delivery, installation and replacement products under Your Product Care Plan.

Warning: bonus gift card is valid for 1 month only!!!

How about tell me what is included. That will be faster than reading the exclusion list.

How about doing ctrl-f and finding out whether the product you are after is excluded?

Wqsnt some company got fined for their gift cards expiring or something.

Pretty surr mentioned on ozbargain but cant quite recall

    • HN giftcard promotion has been like this all the time which is why i rarely jumped on it.

However, i've read in previous comments that some HN stores were able to use the gift card in the same transaction which is basically a discount.

Failing that you can try price matching with JB including the savings you can get from the gift card which was reportedly working in the past.

    No Gerry, no.

And I agree with your last 3 comments

  • Stay away professionals!

  • I'm surprised we haven't had 'Can you exchange these GC for vanilla Visa/MC''….

  • Any chance good guys would match this offer for a identical product (With a TGG gift card)?

    • you don't ask, you don't get

      • Good point. I had good success with this

  • https://www.harveynorman.com.au/apple-iphone-16e-128gb-black… comes down to ~$781, looks like a better deal than recent digidirect one

  • Works well and stacks with the Pixel 10 Pro $0 on $69

    • How would this work?

      • You get 10% of $0 as a gift card obviously….

        • The gift card is based off of the sale price of the phone, so $169 etc

    • I was told in store it did not while getting my pixel 10 pro

      • that store is wrong, we have comms from head office stating we can. go and ask for it, speak to proprietor if you need to

        • I was refused the 10% gift card too even after informing them that other have received it at other stores. Guess business as usual at HN. No one knows anything and refuse to even be informed or check.

        • Is there anything I can reference, like an email or something if I ask

          • @Asti: ffs
The proprietor will have an email they received on friday from Darren Salakas, in it there will be a table that explicitly outlines the gift cards you are entitled to for the optus deal.
            so sorry about this guys

            • @HardlyNormal: I think the damage has been done. I'm not sure I'll be back to HN. Businesses need to understand once you destroy trust, it's hard to regain. I haven't shopped at HN for 10 years and now was quickly reminded why. From telling the staff what's included to informing the store of their own stock levels to being refused the gift card. And some how they were happy to sell me product care for the product value but, no I haven't spent enough for the gift card. Should have just gone to JB like I had originally planned.

              • @dy4me: so sorry about that mate.

                • @HardlyNormal: I went into store today I was able to get it. Thank you.

  • I've been looking at the DJI Mavic Pro 4 lately. 10% off a newly released $4k drone is nice…….just can't get myself to support this store. Shame!!

I get the hate but you have a legitimate want for a product. What other stores do you not buy from?

      • yeah, it's a good point. There aren't many I won't buy from come to think of it. I dislike Amazon more because of their lousy postal changes for non major towns and I still buy from them!!

  • Excludes Agency aka the decent products

  • How fast will HN provide the GC?

    • I too would like to know. Is it provided over the counter at time of purchase, or posted with the item? @HardlyNormal can you clarify?

      • +2

From my experience today, It was immediately processed and given with the receipt of the transaction.

        • +2

Yep provided immediately as a physical gift card. Can use it immediately too

      • +2

Over the counter in store, emailed if ordered online

  • Any idea if you get the bonus gift card when paying with a gift card? What about if you get them to price match someone? Technically not excluded in t&cs….

    • yup you do!

i wouldn't shop with HN, i ordered the dual up monitor when it went in sale. Came back an email saying it will be shipped soon then a week later saying it will be backordered. i did not hear back for a month so i called and they said it's still on the way. I waited another month only to find out from their website that they had decided to discontinue it. Had i not called they wouldn't have informed me.

    • Fair call. I had a similar experience with a game. Paid, invoice, shipping confirmation, then nothing for weeks. Called and told they'll find out what's happening. Another week on and nothing. In the end, it was about 4-5 weeks on and 4 phone calls before they eventually decided that they didn't have the stock and refunded me. More annoyingly, they could've pulled the stock from another store in that time… except that it was now gone from all!!!

    • yep, even though I'm the OP for this deal, I would never shop here. Generally they are more expensive than TGG/JB. The franchise/commission model means that they are incentivised to sell the item to you for the most price, so as to keep the markup, which is over on top of what HN makes in profit!

Which also means that customer service goes out the window.

Only posted this as there are many areas, especially regional where there aren't many options and HN's the only B&M store. Plus with father's day, it could help snag a bargain if the stars aligned.

      • I would argue that the franchise model actually dramatically increases quality of customer service, as we really care about every sale, which also plays in the fact that we want you to have the best price. we want you to price match with us so you can get the best experience and price.

Also Not saying we are the cheapest store of all, but definitely are the same if not cheaper than JB most of the time.
we are cheaper on iPhones by about $40 right now, i can’t remember the last time i had to price match a laptop or anything from JB. We also have the best launch offer on P10P

        • I agree with this statement. Some of the franchisers provide really good service while others fall below the par. It is like a brand within a brand.

Which is a real problem for the consumers to workout good ones. May be we should have a forum listing good franchisers then we all can flock into that good one and make them flurish while we also get good deals. It is win-win situation.

        • Not saying all are like that. Some franchisers do provide really good service, and I'm sure some customers definitely prefer it and are happy to pay more for it also.

However, its pretty inconsistent. If you see the original comment from the start of this comment thread from Buggy D Clown, that's atrocious service and sadly those are not just one off examples.

BTW I was able to match this offer with TGG instore. They just ignored the gift card and brought the price down by the equivalent 10% (don't need a silly gift card). Essentially bought a DJI Flip Fly More combo for $959.40 (after price matching with Harvey Norman). I stacked this with $40 TGG instore credit as well as a couple of $20 gold service extra credits to bring it down to ~$860.

My local was also able to knock 10% off the price of the 55" Bravia B8II.
Called HN and said they'll do one better and sell it to me for $2,800.
I would have purchased without even thinking if they had stock.
