      Check your user manual:
The manual will specify the type of detergent that your dishwasher is designed to use.

It doesn't go with Smeg oven

My wife has asked me to pull my weight around the house. If I buy her some of these would that help?

I hate this brand, leave horrible smell on plate

    • +3

Maybe your machine needs a cleaning cycle

      • +4

It's a good suggestion but the lingering smell issue is definitely related to fairy (I thought the same as you and ran multiple clean cycles with cleaning products e.g. Somat and finish and also manually cleaned the filters - unsuccessfully). I've found the following helps:

        1. Open the bag containing the tabs and leave it open to air out for a minimum of a week before using (and leave it opened) - be warned your cupboard will stink of the smell but it is reducing the smell of the tabs
        2. Run the wash cycle and as soon as it is finishes open the dishwasher and let it fully dry out
        3. Make sure that as soon as the cycle is finished you remove any puddles of water (e.g. On upside bowls). Make sure this water doesn't fall on the dishes below.
        4. If your dishwasher is very dry at the end of the cycle then points 2 and 3 aren't so useful - I this case I suggest trialling no rinse aid and then doing steps 2 and 3.

The above has greatly helped lower the residual smell with fairy tabs. Gl.

As an aside I've found no matter what you do silicone products really absorb the smell when washed with fairy tabs.

Using more natural dishwashing tablets don't have this issue, eg earth choice, eco store, undo this mess, aldi platinum, etc. I've found finish and fairy tablets to be overly fragrant and really harsh.

It's helps as well to ensure your dishwasher is clean and the water arms/jets are free of food particles.

leave it open to air out for a minimum of a week before using

i'll counter by suggesting you buy another brand (aldi has tabs at 14¢ each that're ok ime)

          • @0jay: Of course this would be the easiest option. But alot of users, me included, will have stocked up on fairy tabs during the catch closing down/dumping stock sales. Am just using my tabs up before I switch likely to powder as it doesn't have those stupid plastic style coatings.

            • @Chocobros: yeh i suspected you may be talking about a sizable stash

it's getting hard to avoid 'disolvable' plastics that apparently produce microplastic. we used to regulate products and materials and now we're welcoming homicidal mechanical turks into our classrooms ima just get my coat and leave sorry to be a bother

              • @0jay: We'll be well preserved at least. No need for embalming.

                • @buffalo bill: put the funeral industry out of business as well!

You’re 100%, the smell of these fairy are disgusting and so nauseating! A super chemical artificial Lemon smell

    • +1

the smell is absolutely overpowering. Poor kids drink bottles smelt like fairy for 2 weeks after lol.

    • -1

Yes, same experience. The fragrance is overpowering.

    • Chemicals will do that

    • +1

As you have a Smeg, it could be the smegma residue. Google how to remove it for more info.

      • Google says a smeg dishwasher is not a good option for removing smegma. Now I’m confused

  • +27

It's a great deal, good find OP.

I just wish it was compatible with my Smeg dishwasher.

    • +1

Look at this rich guy with a dishwasher.

  • +3

Any good against the Aldi ones?

    • Asking the real questions. Exactly what I want to know

    • its all the same shit, if you want to save, use powder.

  • The smell of these tablets is nauseating, I don’t get how anybody can use them!!

  • +3

Like the others I'm staying away from Lemon fragrance ones, from any brand. Was also a bag of Fairy in the past that I was happy to finally use to lol.

  • +6

Just get the cheapest powder from coles/woolies eg https://links.coles.com.au/TmOXosRUgWb

Less than 10c per wash and I could not fault the results.

    • I'm using the coles powder. I'm not seeing it being that effective on egg on a plate or tea stains in a cup that's been there for say 1 hr. It could be the dishwasher.

      • +1

Had the same issue, found woollies shine to be better, but YMMV

Edit: make sure you add some extra powder in the door for the prewash, it makes a big difference

    Hi,
Unfortunately we were unable to supply the following item/s for your order: auto dish wash. We apologise for the inconvenience and you will receive a refund shortly.

  • +4

These have a warning on the bottom to only use in Smeg.

    • Does that mean it’s compatible with my Miele?

  • +1

Been using the Shine ones from woolies. 1kg of powder for $4, works great.

IIRC, these are often overkill for the amount of grime your dishes generally have, and could cause too much residue buildup as a result. I'd recommend just getting the powder and not overfilling your dishwasher.

    • Same, when you use the powder its not only cheaper but you can control how much you add. Big greasy load? add the same amount that would be in a tablet. Light load? add half.

Also, you can add powder to the smaller pre-wash compartment making that much more effective, which is something you cant do when just using tablets

  • Great deal, our Bunnings has some stamped with an S which are compatible with my Smeg dishwasher.

    • what's so special about smeg machines?

  • Onepass delivery??

  • I had ordered online with onepass

    • The dreaded Smeg curse

  • Word has it Bunnings is now trialing a new dishwasher tablet specifically for Smeg users only…

  • The Aldi Platinum pods do the best job in my experience and they're only 14c each, which is amazing.

    • tablets are 14¢ the pods are mid 20s

  • Coles tablets are fine too. I think 7ish dollars for 60 tabs.
