Now, if I'm already a member and I want to switch to this plan, will the cashback work?

    • keen to know this as well

      • -1

It just tracked so let's hope

        • Are you already with Exetel?

          • @ShadowSaver: I was on exetels $99 dollar plan and just switched over to the 500-50
            It's tracked with shopback too

            • @oldyellah: Can you advise how you switched over? I keep getting a popup telling that I have to upgrade using their Exetel app

@Danster: I clicked on the link in this post, put in my address and then 'signed up'

Logged into my account in a different browser and got my avc number and put in my details and it all worked!

(Maybe use a different browser you're not logged into?)

                • @oldyellah: Thank you. I tried that and funny thing happened. My current plan was cancelled and I lost internet connectivity. Rebooted the modem and managed to get the usual speed of 100/20 working for now…. phew!
Shopback not tracked for another two days…. I logged into Shopback to verify.
Now i have to ring them tomorrow to dispute the 30 day charge as I have not switched away from them but changed the plan.
Thank you for the advice, at least it allowed me to purchase "The One" plan.

                  • @Danster: Damn it put you through the ringer haha

Wait so it end up working or not yet?

Things I trust more than getting a cashback from Shopback.

Sushi purchased from a petrol station that has not been refrigerated.
    The coalition being in Government.
    Donald Trump

  • I'm currently with Telstra NBN. Any comments on whether this would be as good/better etc?

    • -1

The only thing is it's byo modem or buy one outright from them.
The Telstra modem is locked to Telstra (mind you I had 2 of them crap out on me before switching to ABB)

You can go on marketplace and search for decos or NetComm routers with wifi 6 and get a bargain instead of buying new too.

      • Telstra modem/router can be used on Exetel and most ISPs. VoIP phone ports are locked with stock firmware.

        • I had 2 of them die and Telstra said they were locked to Telstra…. Liars!

  • Looks like one cannot select date of activation into the future. It will start from the day of sign up?

    • That's right.

you need to pay for 4 months. The other 50$ deal is better

I am using Optus nbn since March of this year from this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/898966

Called Optus to enquire about billing dates and discounts and Optus is moving to 500/50 plan for 100/20 customers and for retention they have applied the $25 discount for next 6 months. Basically the same plan less $110 cashback and less bill by $6.

    Is it worth moving now?

  • Work vpn issues with this?

  • Signed up at 12.20pm. Service activated at 12.30pm. Also got service cancellation confirmation from previous ISP. Shopback cashback also tracked already at 1.05pm. Everything done in less than an hour. Speeds are great, getting 438 down, 47.4 up.

I'm not sure I'd be keen on Exetel after scammers were able to gain control of mobile number services and access consumers' bank accounts, with reported losses of at least $412,000.

There were 73 occasions in June and July 2024 where scammers were able to manipulate its systems to bypass parts of the required identity verification processes. It seems like they really DGAF about security and privacy too much if they allowed so many breaches in such a short period of time.

  • I am existing Exetel customer. Just tried to upgrade using browser but it does not allow me to do it over the computer. I have to upgrade using the Exetel app so that means it won't track.

  • Exclusions - You won't get Cashback on:
    Mobile, Fibre and Business plans

Is FTTP not considered as Fibre?

    • I'd assume the exclusion applies to NBN fibre upgrades.

      • +1

Exetel refer to Fibre as OptiComm FTTP. This cashback deal is for nbn FTTP.
