How long have tp link been making cameras btw?

I only heard of their routers

  • +1

    Do these support RTSP

  • Im looking to buy a camera but unsure which one is best. I'd like to have the cheapest cloud subscription with flexibility with ftp access if one day the company holds us to ransom.
Do you know which brand and how much is the subscription, can we look at the footage live and also historically immediately?

Got a pair of these from Harvey Norman last year and they've been great.

If you use local storage with your own SD card you can't download the footage when you're not on the same WiFi network. Good Guys says local storage up to 256gb but TP-Link says 512gb. Also, probably wise to enable continues recording in the tapo app(per camera) because auto detection is never 100%.

Great choice with Harvey Norman! 👍

  • Had anyone tried these outdoors?

Just cover them up right, enough so they don't get drenched in the rain?

    • Hello friend! Placing an indoor camera outside exposes it to moisture, dust, and fluctuating temperatures, which can cause it to malfunction or wear out faster. In contrast, outdoor cameras are designed with robust casings and weatherproof seals, ensuring they can stand up to the unpredictable outdoors. You may also void your warranty using an indoor camera outdoors. Your decision of course!

You can view TP-LINK warranty information from https://www.tp-link.com/au/support/replacement-warranty/

Ive had one outside installed outside under the eaves for nearly 2 years no issues

    • +1

I have 1 outside under eaves, no direct sun/rain, absolutely no issues for 2 years now

    • Same boat !! I can't find anything cheaper and with rotate function so this might replace the one I already got

      • Does it rotate itself if it sees the movement? Would you know the range it can detect movement upto?
Can you set time to record all only between specific times? Or detext movement between specific times?

        • +1

I think it does. Range would be good for 5-10 these are not for great lenses

In tp link yes you can customised home or away mode so it will detect at those times.

Im waiting for the v3 to be on sale, 2k and 30fps is better than 1.5k and 15fps

    • My V2 C210's do 30fps and are 2k…

  • I actually bought 2 before and never opened them still in their sealed box, happy to give them for 40$. I'm based in Sydney.

    • I would take them off you buy im in Perth!

      • Cool, I'll message you mate. I can mail them if you want

        • If Pandaboss falls through, I would like to to them off you. Can pick up.

          Thanks!

  • ive been waiting for another $44 for 2 deal as well. It works well with home assistant (with hacs integration rather than the official one) and frigate nvr, if anyone is wondering

  • jb has it for the same price as I have gg on my boycott list

    • Good guys is owned by Jb HiFi lol

  • Hi all,

Seems you need a wired connection with these ones.

I have 2x Swann Wireless/Wi-Fi cameras currently installed.
App for notifications is a bit hit and miss and is a little 'slow' to save videos to view in app (which only saves 7 days without going on a paid plan)

I like the 'continuous' record option this TP Link Tapo model offers.

So I guess keen to know if there are models that are wireless and continuous record - I didn't really want to get an electrician to come and wire them up - If that was the case, I'd probably get a more expensive option with a base and recording device to ensure continuous record always.

    Thanks

    • C210 is WiFi only

      • Thanks!

I was keen to know if there was Power Cable free option (i.e. on Battery)?

        This model states:
        Power: 3 Meter Power Cable

        • +1

You could probably find some sort of aftermarket battery/solar panel option somewhere like Aliexpress but not a first-party one. They are supplied with a 9v power supply but will actually run on 5V
