When I looked the other day, there was no one $5 ticket anywhere I could find suggesting they may already be gone or the promo is shady

    • +1

you won't see that until check out

Hoyts purchase just gave me a voucher with December 2028 expiry…

Just a heads up - adblocker blocked the benefits page from loading, so if you're having trouble, try turning that off. :-)

  • Is the expiry for Event cinemas 6 or 12 months?

    • +1

Hoyts ones I got were December 2028

Will wait for someone to chime in about Event

      • +1

        Event expires Jan 10 2026

    • +1

      Mine expires in Jan 10th

  • So am I booking a movie or just buying a voucher?

    • Voucher, if standard session for the cinemas listed

      • So even though I'm selecting a movie and date-time, it's just a voucher that I can use for a future purchase?

        • That's what happened for my purchases

If you're not sure, do what I did and gamble on 1 ticket

      • You can't buy a voucher though? You have to select a movie.

        • +2

When you select the movie, and the session, it then just sends you a voucher to then go book that session, but as per the conditions it's just a general use voucher

          • +1

@spackbace: Nice work. I took the gamble with 8 ha ha and confirming after hours purchase it was 8 vouchers with expiry Dec 2028 and I had to "select my seat" aka use the vouchers and book tickets to the actual movie.

            Good hack thank you!

            • @leeroys_dad: @spackbace, when you click select your seat it takes you to the session that you booked. Which won't be available in a year from now.

How do I apply the voucher to a different movie and timeslot?

              • @tenpercent: My Hoyts voucher just gave me a generic voucher. Linked from the email they sent

                • @spackbace: Yeah I got that too. So I can just use that on a different movie? 🤞🏿

                  • +1

@tenpercent: Yeah it's just a generic gift voucher

                    • @spackbace: Diff movie and diff hoyts location? Just the timing sat/sun 2pm restriction?

    • +4

      Take me to dinner first

  • -2

Damn, we sold both our Toyota's during Covid because we got more money for them then what we paid new 10 years before that. Now I wish I didn't. No cheap movies with our 2 China cars.

    • +3

FWIW I don't have a vehicle in my account and it let me go right through to payment for a movie ticket…

  • +1

How exactly do you book this?

    Link takes you here https://www.toyotagomovies.com.au/

On the left menu there is:
    - Movies
    - Cinemas
    - Experiences

How do you just buy the vouchers?

You need to actually choose a movie and a session you want to attend?

  • +2

Yep. Confirmed that you select a movie and it looks as though you're booking that session, but the actual voucher you receive is a generic "screen saver" voucher (for Event cinemas). Great deal.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

Booked for HOYTS and received vouchers expiring in 2028.

Select a Cinema, Movie and Time.
The price will still be retail. But once you are at the checkout screen, it will go to $5 each.

The new myToyota is still glitchy, i registered my toyota yaris multiple times and successful but everytime I relogin it’s always gone anyway.
So as OP said, no vehicle registered and I managed to buy multiples just fine

OP, i didn’t get any surcharge tho 🤩

  • +1

Not working for me, after selecting a movie when I click on check out I have to login again and then it tells me that that the password is wrong. Then when I click on forgotten password it tells me "We don't recognise this email address." If I click on profile in the account though it has my correct email address.

    • +1

Same. Got email verification code for account setup.
Got it to progress by hitting 'Sign-up' (top right) and it then showed I had used 0/20 vouchers, but on final screen - price was full RRP 🤷‍♂️

      • The password for Toyota Go is not the same password as for your Toyota account. Do a Forgot Password on your Toyota Go account

edit: Was able to replicate your issue by selecting too many tickets before going back to an allowed amount. Refresh solved it for me

        • +1

I don't have a Toyota account, only Toyota Go, I solved it by creating a new account after selecting a movie and the login came up and all was fine.

          • +1

@gumwah: Thanks, fixed after multiple things (pwd reset was one) and signing-up (must have been for a Toyota account not Go account) was another. Bought 10.

    • Just do signup now on the log in page use fhe same email and password. That allowed to make the purchase.

    • Just select Sign Up instead and it will go through

  • +2

Event cinemas voucher expires February 2026. Not quite as good as Hoyts

  • Thanks OP. Got for village cinemas, voucher expiry is 30 Sep 2026

  • +1

2700 available, surely this is going to get ozbargained. That's only 135 people buying 20!

  • +2

Anyone actually successfully used the event cinema voucher you get? No matter what session i try it just says "You have reached the maximum amount of tickets left for this session/area"

    • +1

Might be ozbargained already. 1000+ clicks and some getting 20+ tickets on an order xD

      • +3

I received the vouchers, the error is when attempting to use the vouchers.

        • Double check the session you're booking qualifies for the standard discount ticket?

          • @jazzpdp: Checked that, tried multiple ones on weekdays that weren't NFT or vmax or anything like that.

      • Just purchase now

  • -1

    Thanks OP. Ive stocked up.

  • -2

    Great deal OP! Bought 20.

  • Best just buy 10 ticket at a time to save transaction fee, it's 40c per transaction

  • Thanks OP!

  • Also there's no transaction fee if you pay with Apple Pay.

  • Got 2, event voucher is only for off peak times

    • +2

tried again with a late Saturday movie and the time restriction was removed

  • +3

Insane deal, my hoyts ones expire 31/12/2028!

  • Thanks OP, Hoyts vouchers seem to work for Saturday and Sunday sessions :)

  • -3

Bought 14 Event Cinema instead of Hoyts lol

  • +2

Thanks OP. Received HOYTS Unrestricted Adult E-Vouchers expiring 31st Dec 2028.

    Wasn't charged any transaction fee.

  • Can anyone confirm if Village Cinemas voucher can be used at Event Cinemas? Just bought an Event voucher and it says can be used at Village. My expiry is 10 Jan 2026.

  • -1

Thanks OP. I tested 1 for Wallis in SA and it was just a barcode for the session. Stick to Event or Hoyts. I have now maxed out all 20.

    • -1

Similar to Dendy in Canberra. Appears to be a booking for a specific session.

I went with 2x for Dendy and 18x for Hoyts.

  • +1

Cheers op. Works on xtremescreen too with $6 surcharge at booking time. Received the restricted tickets.

  • Hoyts vouchers have just changed from Unrestricted e-Voucher to Restricted (can't use it after 2pm Sat/Sun or public holidays)!

  • Small consolation for all the Camry Prado owners

  • +1

Doesn't seem to like my purchase

    Voucher Adult
    2 @ $19.40$38.80($0.00 tax)
    Total$38.80($0.00 tax)
    Total including Tax$38.80

  • +1

I am getting this at checkout?
    Voucher Adult (Standard)
    2 @ $15.50$31.00($0.00 tax)
    Total$31.00($0.00 tax)
    Total including Tax$31.00

  • +1

Doesn't appear to be working anymore. Getting full price at checkout

    • +3

Maybe all 2700 tickets are now gone.

    • +1

Same issue. Just missed it i guess

  • +1

Looks to be finished, seems a few people went and brought a bunch of tickets to resale on ebay.
Cant believe i hesitated to book a movie

  • A brilliant deal. Thanks again OP.

  • I think this has been ozbargained. Not showing $5 per ticket at checkout for me :(

  • I managed to get some. Thank you OP. Wish I knew if did the after 6pm with event that I would get unrestricted. Oh well.

    • +1

Ah that makes sense! Oh well

    • +1

      Missed that trick.

  • +1

Thank you to all the people who bought 20 :(

    • blame Toyota for setting the limit so high

  • +7

it appears if you booked a Saturday or Sunday session for Hoyts you got an unrestricted voucher. otherwise you got a restricted one

    • +1

Makes sense, shame I didn't do that lol

    • Looks like same for Village cinemas too. I can see my tickets as unrestricted which i selected for Saturday 9pm

  • +2

    as per T&C
2,700 allocated tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis, and 20 ticket limits on order quantity or usage per customer.
    Offer.

All gone. Late for the Party

  • +9

As a Toyota owner, finding these have gone to non Toyota owners sucks

    • +16

      Oh what a feeling lol

      • +1

        That gave me a chuckle

      • +1

As a Toyota owner, this gave me legit chuckles.
