[ShopBack] My Account Has Been Debited 4 Times & I've Also Paid Using Stored Credit Yet ShopBack Deny Duplicate Payments

First time poster and looking for advice as I've seen a representative of Shopback respond to other queries on here so fingers crossed…

When trying to pay for a meal using the 'Pay To' function of the Shopback app, it kept saying 'Payment Processing' along with a message along the lines of 'it's taking a while to process your payment, try hitting Back and using another payment method'… I did this 4 times. Not once did I receive confirmation that any payment was successful and to avoid wasting any more time for the poor cashier, I simply opted to pay using my stored credit.

The following day, I log into my internet banking to see 4 pending payments to Shopback - again, not once did the app provide confirmation that any of these payments had been successful. All had timed out and told me to 'go back and try again'.

My bank has logged a dispute form but said given it was via the 'Pay To' method, Shopback would be my best option to get the funds back.

Shopback have told me they see no duplicate payments on their end (!!!) and to contact my bank - so sending me in circles. Their initial email stated they were working closely with the restaurant as well over the duplicate payments. No word as to whether they received a response from them or not… how they can say there are no duplicate payments is beyond me - I provided screenshots of my account showing the debits as well as one showing it was paid from my stored credit.

Just looking for anyone who may have experienced something similar and what outcome they were able to achieve - I feel I'm in for a drawn out and frustrating battle to get my money back…

If it’s pending, it will probably not be processed, and just drop off after a few days.

I love how you all say to just 'chill'… But the payments are NOT showing as pending. My account has been charged 4 times and this was a week ago so the charges have definitely processed…

Payments will show as being pending, but the value will be deducted from your available credit. Does not mean you have been actually charged, rather the card company has simply reserved the funds against your account.
In due course either (a) the payments will be processed and your available credit will not change or (b) the value of the pending payments will be removed (in around 5 days) and your available credit will be increased accordingly.

So at the moment it's just a temporary theft?

As I have said, the payments are NOT pending. They were pending but are now fully charged and funds have left my account.

      • Which credit card issuer?

Not a credit card. It's been debited from my bank account using their 'Pay To' payment method.

  • ADACBHS :/

Lets all sing it together "don't rely / factor in / trust / get into bed / count on / expect" any "cash back" scheme to function as expected :P

Their T&Cs say they can close your account tomorrow for whatever reason and run away with your $100,000 in credit …

      Has that happened to anyone?
Who would leave that much accrued in their cashback account?
