@easternculture: While it’s true that in some vaccine studies saline placebo is not always used (sometimes the control is another vaccine or an adjuvant), the statement that there has never been a true double-blind saline placebo-controlled study is factually incorrect.

                • -4

@twocsies: A true double blind study is an independant study not conducted, supervised or funded by big pharma that have a financial interest in the product.

And to truely determine the safety of a vaccine, the control should be, in my opinion, saline because the chance of saline causing a side effect is 1 to a million.

    these are rental spec shitters

    also kinda ugly

dont see the value at these prices and they were kidding themselves at $4k more

also their own MGS5 EV exists

I was just unfortunate enough to be given one as a rental. Honestly the worst car I have ever driven. Absolute garbage. People would have to be mad to buy one of these over a used car. I really tried to find some redeeming features but never found any. I give it a 0/10.

      • Never has humanity been exposed to so much readily accessible knowledge yet self subjected to so much ignorance and naivety. Congrats on being alive in the 21st century.

    • I do love the comments on the 70kw 1.5L excite "it's too slow and crap"

Introduce the 125kw HS and "it's crap"

We need 400kw or nothing at all!

      • actually no one in this entire thread said they were too slow

        crap yes

        too slow = no

BUT i have issues with the longevity of tiny 1.5 motors pushing large body frames BUT the warranty should take care of that for 10yrs i guess

Chery Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid PHEV $39990 is a better option than a petrol only MG

      Or get a Mazda CX5 for $37,990.

A blind, deaf, 3 legged donkey is a better option than an MG

      • 100% fact. The MGs are so poorly engineered I’m surprised they were allowed to be sold here. They even mount some of their suspension fasteners upside down (nut on top, bolt on bottom) so if they were ever to come undone, the control arms literally disconnect. They’re insanely bad.

I’d pick a 2 legged donkey over an MG.

        • thing is the other chinese suvs in this class are better than MG which is saying a lot

as a rule their petrol cars just suck

    What’s so excite about these?
    Misleading advertising

Recently drove an MG while my car was getting repaired. From the moment I sat in it, I reminded me of my 1998 Hyundai Excel. Same level of comfort and safety. Having said that, these cars are everywhere!

      So, it was good?

      • +2

I have driven ZS and HS rentals.

The HS in particular I thought was actually very good (coming from very low expectations). Ride is comfortable, engine is smooth, there is enough power (not excess power of course). The build quality seemed fine. The most lacking point is the UI experience in the digital controls, which is both hard to navigate and the graphics is from 2009.

The ZS though… just run… it is basically a match for said low expectations lol.

  • How many KMs can I get off one charge in this car?

    • +3

what are you expecting to charge, your phone?

It's a 1.5L petrol hybrid that burns imported 95 octane dino juice at a rate of 6.9L/100kms from a 55L tank, so the range could be something like 800km if you did ever achieve 6.9

I was recently unfortunate enough to be given one of these as a rental. Had it for a week and, honestly, its the worst car I’ve ever driven. Absolute garbage. Drive train feels unbalanced, the stereo is 1990’s laptop grade, the transmission and throttle calibration is dangerous, the infotainment systems are unbelievably frustrating - it was just a horrible vehicle.

People would have to be mad to buy one of these over a used car. I really tried to find some redeeming features but never found any. I gave it a 0/10.

  • Test drove the MG and the Chery right after. Chery completely wiped the floor with their inclusions.

  • "driveaway pricing for the HS mid-size SUV" - hmm, it's less than 4.7m long. That's small/compact in my books, not mid-size. Wikipedia agrees.

    • Your books are wrong unless you're from the USA where this would be a compact SUV/ crossover. In Australia, this HS is a similar size to Tucson, Sportage, RAV4, CX-5, all considered mid-sized or medium SUVs.
That said, no particular size designation would make the HS a good car.

      • The RAV4, CR-V, and Forester were all at one point considered COMPACT SUVs in Australia.

        See proof here: https://ibb.co/rGZ5LD3m

This is an official vfacts sales report from 2008.

      • I've had the HS PHEV for 18 months, it's a good (great?) car. I wouldn't buy the petrol only or hybrid versions though.

Edit: Maybe there are better value options now (I only paid 33k for mine) but still, it's a good car.

        • PHEVs might be a different kettle of fish… people here and everywhere have a disdain for the PETROL offerings…

I think these sit SUVs sit between a RAV4 and a Corolla Cross.. veering more towards the RAV4 in size

for most normal families with up to 2 kids a RAV4 should be more than good

if you need 7 seats and can afford the Kluger then thats a good choice too

for my needs I found Qashkais and Corolla Cross and CX3s too small… like what am I saving over say a RAV4 Xtrail CX5 as far as purchase price rego fuel econ? nothing

  • I would rather pay more for BYD sealion 6
