Lyca Mobile: $10 Cashback ($4 Profit) on 80GB 28 Days Prepaid SIM/eSIM for $6 Delivered @ TopCashback AU

2212

$4 profit, I selected the eSim.
Lyca uses Vodafone network.

Select :
Partner Exclusive - Short Term High Value Plan
$30.00
80GB Data
Unlimited national talk & text
Unlimited calls to 35 countries

I had issues getting it activated but it may have been the fact I was trying in a very low reception area. Support generated a new QR code and eventually it worked. (support took maybe 30 minutes to get through)

This is my first deal I have posted but wanted to share with you all. I needed a cheap/free esim so it worked fine for me.
(I needed a free eSim or $1 that I could get and found this)

***avoid buying anything from these M_____kers, got this deal without the cashback for $10 and i am stuck with them since ages , didn’t let me activate the sim have sent them multiple emails and called them few times yet no response, customer service is next to nil , their chat bot is living in 16th century and never replies , haven’t seen a worst mobile provider..

    • +3

You are not alone. Me too

    • Lyca only allows around 4 sims per person. I tried using different ids and only knew it after wasting a few hours.

  • +16

Lyca mobile were terrible: they used recurring billing in my account even though it was switched off, had to spend a lot of time with TIO to finally get my money back.

    • +7

      Exactly what happened with myself.
I even have screenshot of disabling renewal.

They're cheap, till things go inevitably wrong and then you pay with your time to get them to stop charging you.

I'd advise folks to stay away from this mob.

      • +2

Lyca auto-renewed mine too when I had switched off. I didn't complain to TIO but won't use them again.

        • +1

Has anyone tried using virtual cards (e.g. Wise) and then freeze/cancel those cards afterwards?

        • +2

Me too. Actually I didn't realize that they were still charge me until months later. Luckily my Bendigo was able to refund me everything, despite using a debit card

          • @quill: That was lucky.

I saw the charge in the first week but Lyca refused to refund. Ended up using the SIM that month and it was the last time I used Lyca.

    • hard to turn off?

  • +7

It's a no from me, they can't even port numbers properly.

  • +2

    Free money!

I've been paid every time. Just ensure yuk turn off the auto payments right away

    • Do you just need a different email address to be considered a new customer? Or it doesnt matter

      • I make a new email for each new sim I get so I can claim sign up bonuses. Then use the email for the latest Sim card purchase

    • There're risk-takers like yourself & hence I commented, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16882597/redir

      Lyca's a low-end provider with low-features, limited-services etc etc…opposite-end of Telstra.

But I can live with that…however, I rather follow their rules since I've signed-up in Nov-24.

      • It states a new customer generally means new phone number and email address. I'm just following their rules.

You can determine if the risk is acceptable for you or not. Having said that there is always a risk with any cashback that it doesn't track.

It's $6. I already made profit from phone number sign ups so it's extra gravy

        • Pls send a link-> 'It states a new customer generally means new phone number and email address. I'm just following their rules.'

  • +9

Please No, just No from Lyca.
These guys are next level of scammers with recurring bills. Just F No!

  • Be super careful you have turned off all the settings even vaguely related to auto renew, auto refill, automatic payments etc… When you sign up for an eSim, Lyca will save your card to renew the plan even though it's not shown as "saved" in your account.

With a physical sim, they don't seem to save card details like this.

    • +2

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Sounds like someone who knew what they were doing, created the registration for physical sim.
The new guy who implemented eSim probably didn't or they did, and it was intentional

      • +1

+1 for using Hanlon's Razor in an OzB comment.

    • Their website does mention "The payment method you select will be used for any future recurring payments." This is in the "Payment details" section when you order the sim card.

      • Yeah, I actually signed up for this plan and noticed that too. I think it's new because it's quite obvious now.

        • +1

I was actually referring to "With a physical sim, they don't seem to save card details like this."

I bought a physical sim and saw the statement "The payment method you select will be used for any future recurring payments" during check out.

    • +1

It's weird, I bought the same $6 plan as my husband, in my app I can turn off auto renewal for the partner exclusive short value, but in his one, whenever I press the button to off, it asks me to set an end date (with no input available) so I can't do anything

  • +2

Thanks for posting OP, but Lyca has such a terrible reputation around here - deservedly so - that your deal will be negged into oblivion.

Don't let it dissuade you from posting other non Lyca deals in the future.

  • +9

Lyca is a “scam” do not use them.

  • +10

Lyca is a scam, FUK NOOO. You can't even send photos by mms text. They didn't buy the protocol rights in Australia, piece of shets they are. I ported out within 3days.

OP, Keep posting deals you find, don't be discouraged by the neg comments. All information on deals is Good.

  • I bought a sim to churn when my old sim was expiring, i tried to port but the next available date was 3 days ahead. Couldn't contact anyone so i just ported to someone else.

  • +1

Bad experience before so have been avoiding. Thought I'd retry with this deal but unable to checkout with numerous payment methods. Maybe it's for the best!

    • +1

What the actual F. I just received a sim in the post. Have been billed for it. No cashback tracking of course because it wouldn't let me checkout and kept giving me error messages.

Lyca is such a scummy POS company. F you Lyca

      • +1

        They are literally the worst.

It's stuff like this that makes me not want to even risk a sim just for the profit.

    • +1

I also thought that I was unable to checkout with numerous payment methods (error screen). But those payments were going through in the background. This is their way to avoid cashback I suppose.

  • +2

last time I was paid without activation ( like old boost style ). I am taking my chances with a "auto renewal set to OFF" .

    • I turned it to OFF, and I removed my credit card on the website also. worst luck didnt think to try and use a virtual card.

    • Auto recharge is off for me but auto renewal is on. Only option it has is contact us but the bot can't do anything atm other than tell me to dial *190#, but that doesn't work. Is there anyway to cancel auto renewal without contacting them?

      • I'm in the same situation. I paid for a physical sim card with Google Wallet, I would think that way they can't save the card details.
Appreciate if you let me know how you solved this

    • You cannot set auto renewal set to OFF during the purchase state. Their website does mention "The payment method you select will be used for any future recurring payments." This is in the "Payment details" section when you order the sim card.

  • +2

Oh great. Cant log in. Cant reset password.

    Im f@#$ed

  • SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase for cashback to be eligible

can i activate after 30 days?

  • +1

8-Sep-25: CashRewards is shutting-down, see their email &/or APP.

    • +2

This is a Lyca/TopCashback post and unrelated to Cashrewards closing down.

      • Correct…off-topic & apology.

  • +2

Lots of negs for this but i didnt find it too difficult to setup / turn off auto renew. Im just using it as extra data and some cashback anyway.
Just waiting for TCB to track

    • A common experience reported by many members on previous deals… who then later got billed for an additional month and/or had their cashback rejected.

    • Did you buy successfully from the website? Which card did you use? Which browser and device? I am receiving errors upon payment.

    • Did it track? Havent tracked after 5 days.

      • Mine didnt, had to put in request after the 7 days

  • +2

Cashback tracked no problem by Topcashback. No problem too with previous Lyca purchased last January and November. I only use new numbers just for data and other freebies ;-)

I use Wise virtual cards, no problem for many kind of transactions. Just delete or change to new card numbers after transaction. Repeat :P

    • can I know how long did yours take to track?

    • Do I need to continue recharging after the first month to receive the cashback, or can I leave it as it is as long as I switch off auto-recharge? Thanks.

      • Just switch off auto recharge.

        • Thank you. Do you know how long the number will last without recharging?

          • +4

            @szy2k: https://www.lycamobile.com.au/en/terms-condition/

"Your Lyca Mobile number will be disconnected if you do not recharge your plan or purchase a top-up for ninety (90) consecutive days from either the activation or expiry dates of your last recharge, whichever is the latest.
We will send you SMS notifications at 60 days and 80 days to remind you before disconnection. If no action is taken within this period, your agreement will be automatically terminated, and this termination will be considered initiated by you.

Once your Lyca Mobile number is disconnected, it will be in quarantine for 180 days. During this period, you will not be able to hold Rights of Use for your number, however, it cannot be assigned to anyone else.
If the number is within the 180-day quarantine period, in some circumstances, we may be able to reconnect a disconnected number. Please call customer support on 1300 854 607 for assistance."

  • for some reason I wasn't given the option to port my old number over? user error maybe, only realized after its too late. oh well, time for new user deals again i guess :)

    • +1

Many people have said that Lyca mobile is not good for porting. I think more and more phones these days have at least 2 sim cards slot or sim card & esim option or more.

So, better use Lyca mobile just for new numbers to use the data and to get other freebies ;-)

    • +2

per my last exp with Lyca, it indeed had no option to port over during order or activating new SIM. need to register new Lyca number first, then port through.
      https://www.lycamobile.com.au/en/help/transfer-your-number/

seems odd it wasted a new number.

      • can I then register for new users using the lyca number before porting over my old number?

  • Several hours have passed, still no tracking!

    • The banner when you click through to the deal says 7 days to track

  • Just purchased cause it looks like a good deal, spent over 30 minutes no hold because I cannot activate my eSIM.

  • i got my simcard, i tried activating it and just stucked on the first page, it keeps on loading…

    • Same experience when I tried to activate my eSIM. Did you find a solution?

    • Same today, at around 12PM. Do you have any update?

      • call them just now, after over 1hr waiting. it's a tech issue and might be fixed within 48 hrs. the call centre absolutely has no idea about au though…

    • You have to call them up. Waited nearlyan hour. Make sure to tell customer service to disable all auto recharge options.

  • customer service is horrible. hour long waits with little to no results. Never going back

  • -1

Anyone able to activate their sim?

    • 1st esim had much pain, I suspect my wifi or reception not sure which…. eventually worked.
2nd esim (I ensured other sims turned off on my phone and on good wifi and scanned and it worked fast).

  • anyone bought but haven't received any email confirmation from them? support is pretty useless as no one has picked up

  • +1

It activated well here as a new number - thanks
Tracked within 10 minutes with TCB.

Observation - I removed my credit card however the website still shows auto-renewal on in the plan details - when I go to payment details, auto-pay is turned off (?).
Can't set a password to use the app - 'Forgot My Password' does not work - I can only manage the account on the website.

Speed Caps - CIS shows max 100Mbps.
    Did a few speedtests whilst on 5G - average 230Mbps down - 3Mbps up.

eSim shows as voda AU on IOS / 5G SA greyed out.

    • hey man how long did it take for you to get the email with the confirmation of purchase? I haven't received anything yet…

      • Pretty much instantly yesterday evening - paid and was activated within 15 minutes -

        • thats so weird as they've basically gone radio silent on me haha

  • @tightarse is the $10 cashback per account or per sim activation? The terms are not clear as I bought for myself and my few children but only 1 tracked.

    • +1

I got two both tracked $10

  • BTW is there any reason why the deal has expired? The $10 is still available in TCB and the link to $6 is still there for 80GB, though the normal website only has a $6 for 20GB, less data but still give money for free data+calls.

    • Cool! I had reported it as expired as the 80GB was $10, but the link still has $6 for 80GB as you have just commented.

  • Total fail, activation didn't even give me an option to port my number (Yes I'm a SIM slut) so it's a nutral from me + and - vote at same time because of the $4 profit. Guess got a new number for some crank calls. Ended up porting to Telstra from this $1 deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/921511

  • How long til Cashback is paid. Need $10 cashback for the $50 sign up bonus

  • +1

    Can't even activate.

    • esim activation seems quite easy…

After I submitted my card info to purchase the $6 eSIM, the webpage gave me an error 404 - File or directory not found. The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

I checked my card transaction and noticed that a $6 charge was pending.

    • +2

You'll get the sim in the post, be charged for it and no cashback tracking. This same thing happened to me.

Wasted my time with the 24-7 chatbot twice. There is no human agent to respond. The first chatbot tried to reconnect after the "Live Agent Request" was sent and the session was quite for a while. The second chatbot came back to the session with "Just checking if you’re still connected with me? There seems to be some issue with the connectivity!!", whom I thought was a human agent, but not. It just gave me the second chance to chat with it.

Spent another 16 minutes to wait for an agent on the phone and was told to talk to my card issuer or write an email to cs@lycamobile.com.au. She obviously could not help at all.

Received an email "Your Lycamobile service Is not Active Yet two steps to activate today" after 35 minutes. It seems to contain an eSim QR code. So weird.

No tracking for cashback! I will have to claim it, but not sure if that will be successful.

      • +1

I attempted to call Lyca three times but ended up just waiting for the hold music before they hung up on me.

Did a charge back with the bank but let's see if they keep billing me every month :/

    • +1

Might be a bit late for you now, but this worked for me previously:

  • +2

$4 Boost SIM after cashback posted here.

  • how long it will take the cashback to be "confirmed" signed up to topcashback - and needs to get signup cashback

    • the actual tracked one will probably take a while like last time may be 3 months but luckily the TCB missing claim one became confirmed and paid already

  • I attempted to purchase a Lyca SIM using a Coles Mastercard Gift Card via Chrome on desktop. After clicking the "Pay" button, I was shown an error page (Error 404 – File or directory not found. The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable). Thinking the payment had failed, I tried again starting from the TopCashback website. The second attempt also resulted in the same error screen.I was unaware that the payments had actually gone through both times.

I later received two emails from Lycamobile (subject: “Free SIM Subscription”) confirming that both orders were successful. However, because the checkout ended in an error page, cashback did not track—and likely never will.

Today, I tried a third time—this time using Safari on my mobile device, with the same Coles Mastercard Gift Card. Once again, I encountered a payment error. But once again, the money was deducted, and I received another order confirmation from Lycamobile. Cashback did not track this time either. According to other users on OzBargain, payments that result in an error screen do not trigger cashback tracking.

Do not use actual bank card to purchase from Lycamobile website. Their website mentions "The payment method you select will be used for any future recurring payments." This is in the "Payment details" section when you order the sim card. They will use recurring billing in your account even though you switch off auto rechagre/renew.

End result: I'm now stuck with 3 unwanted Lyca SIM orders, and no cashback.

  • Does anyone know how long you have to activate the SIM after purchase to receive cashback?

    • +1

TCB terms: "SIM must be activated within 30 days of purchase for cashback to be eligible."
