100% Whey Protein 1kg (30 Serves) - $39.98 + $9.95 Delivery ($0 with $99 Order) @ Faction Labs

50

Have not seen whey protein for this price in a while.

I have never tried this brand before, usually use VPA.

Seems to be a 55/45 WPI/WPC blend, macros seems alright.

  • Is it better than Musashi 100% whey.. around $33/kg

    • The packaging looks better.

    • OOo that's a good price atm it's half price at Chemist Warehouse it's 72% protein so honestly it'll come down to taste. I can taste the sweeteners in faction labs compared to amino Z / bulk nutrients. But I got the 3x1kg plus sample pack with creatine and a bunch of extra samples for $120 last week so I'm happy with that.

      Faction labs is 75% protein

      • $59.99 at Chemist Warehouse not half price of $69.95 RRP?
        Which flavours do you like/recommend?

  • +5

So misleading, how can it be 100% whey when there’s additives and flavouring?

    • +2

"100%" appears to be the product name only. As of the protein content — 25.20g / 33.33g serving size = 75.7%.

      • The name is misleading then.

        • +3

          0% curds

@beltdrive: 100% satisfaction, unless you're unsatisfied, then the percentage may change.

  • I guess 100% of the protein is whey. That whey is made up of a 55/45 WPI/WPC ratio

    • Yeah. Couple of people struggling with basic comprehension and thought process here.

  • It tastes like the good old Nestle banana and strawberry Quick.

  • +1

Yeah, a lot of additional ingredients.
They don't even list the amino acid profile so you have no idea of the quality of the protein.

Is there a tier list around on which are the good/bad whey protein powders around?

Most people are kind of having pointless circlejerks re macros and additives, most of them are fine and there is barely anything in them except for protein, whether a serve is 500kJ or 550kJ really doesn't matter. Seen a few weird ones with too many carbs in thembut those brands don't last. As much as people seem to worry about contaminants, I haven't seen a significant scandal about protein powder contamination. It seems odd to hyperfixate on protein powders as being contaminated when you could equally worry about any other food product. People don't generally worry that their flour or green veg have heavy metals in them until they see a lab test.

What really matters if whether you like the texture & flavors a brand offers, and other than some egregious examples it is a matter of person taste so you will just need to try stuff. In terms of protein type, just get whatever seems to make the most sense for you cost wise in terms of protein percentage/blends (Pure WPC -> blends -> Pure WPI). If you struggle to digest protein/dairy, a blend with casein and lactase in it will probably help.

Bulk Nutrients is popular because they always have a competitive and stable price (around $40 - $50/kg) which beats out nearly everyone at full price. They also provide lab results and have a good range of products and flavors. But other brands will beat them on price by $5/kg or so on sale (musashi is $34/kg right now at CW). Between their bulk order discounts and their rewards program, they offer a well regarded product at a very good price year round.

  • I would seriously suggest passing on websites that don't tell you the breakdown of the protein amino acid mix. Protein powder is best bought from a reliable source that provides lab test results providing that you're not ingesting a bunch of heavy metals. I suggest Bulk Nutrients they have lab tests verifying the quantity of protein on the page and if you open a chat session they will share their heavy metal testing results with you too. They test their protein on top of the testing the manufacture does.
