can I have a kilo of steak with this? I wanna make sure its not Halal so its more offensive.

  • +6

These are Halal suitable but not certified.

    • Oki

    • +2

      tf does that even mean

      • +2

the halal status depends on the specific ingredients (like avoiding pork or alcohol) and the production process (ensuring no contamination with haram substances)

there's no pork or alcohol in protein powder, which is mostly made from cows milk. So it's uncertified halal.

however it's not "certified" halal, since it could touch haram substances.

      • +19

They slaughter the mung beans that go into it in a specific and kind of brutal way.

      • +5

Cow didn’t get its neck slit and bleed to death before dying so can’t be halal Certified

      • beans need to be harvested live on camera by farmers who conceal their identity - I think.

      • -1

The more the animals suffer before death the more ok it is to consume in their faith

        • -1

          Are you veg?

          • @Zeee: Just because you don't understand something doesn't make someone vegan. Just makes you ignorant.

  • +1

How is this compared to IINC for taste?

    • +2

Both pretty comparable - if I run out and either one of them is on sale at this price i'll grab a tub.

    • +1

I cant stand one of the sweeteners in INC, but that seems to be personal preference. Lots of other ozbargainers seem to like the INC.

      • Which ones?

        • JV.

          • @GregRust: I was asking about the sweetner, not the chilli sauce ;)

  • How is this compared to gold standard whey ? Is the price difference just a brand premium ?

    • -5

I use the Isolate and there's nothing better on the market (I've gone through most of them). Cheap brands like Musashi are filled with junk. Literally walk into any Nutrition Warehouse or Elite Supps and they'll tell you the same thing.

      • +1

Depends what you mean by "better". Taste, price, protein quality, how well it mixes?

      • +6

Those people telling you its better is because there is more margin on the gold standard line of products

          • +8

@Maths Debater: Why dont you educate us in how they are different? Why do not all IFBB pros take gold standard if its so much better?

            • -5

@Plutolio: I asked ChatGPT says better absorption. 1 hr better. More better flavours and more bcaa. For the price difference I am thinking of just going for the musashi. I am not that serious about my gains.

FYI for those wandering.. I asked grok and it just did a nazi salute and left the chat.

              • +1

                @Bargainboss99:

More better flavours and more bcaa

Maybe instead of trusting a LLM you should of just looked at the labels and see that Musashi has 5.6 grams of BCAA vs gold standards 100% 5.5 grams. Even so if your eating protein on top of your whey powder your probably already getting in your BCAAs needed.

says better absorption. 1 hr better.

Gosh that 1hr (even if its true, so hard to prove because they are basically same ingredients but LLMS are always right?) is going to do so much for muscle gain

                • -2

@Plutolio: Because I didn’t feel like doing research and care not that much about protein facts.
I like to automate the boring stuff I care less about. It’s fine.. same conclusion. Actually mentioned similar things you said.
End of the day I got me some musashi :D.
                  Cheers

            • -2

@Plutolio: I don't think it matters what IFBB Pro's use because that's plain and simple marketing.

        • I went into a store literally named supplement wholesalers, and was trying to look a particular product. The seemingly owner kept putting down the brand I wanted to buy, telling me it’s full of sugar (when I checked the label, it was 1g sugar). And tried to get me to buy another product. It was so blatantly obvious he was trying to sell a better margin. Also for “wholesalers” nothing was decent price at all, I guess i’ll stick to chemist warehouse

      • -1

“Gold Standard” is the Musashi of the US btw. It’s literally the lowest cost protein people that people buy from Costco. It’s only considered premium in Australia due to the popularity carrying over from the US.

        • -2

Please enlighten us what is considered a better protein in Australia.

          • -1

            @Maths Debater: Rule1 WPI
            Dymatize ISO100
            Ehplabs Isopept
            International Protein Amino Charged WPI
            BulkNutrients WPI
            AminoZ WPI
            VPA WPI
Literally any WPI above has higher purity than Gold Standard (both 100% and isolate)

            • -2

@exit: What is Gold Standard 100% Isolate then? It literally says WPI on the tub.

              https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/150491/optimum-nutri…

              • +1

@Maths Debater: 81g protein per 100g on back of tub

Literally all the proteins I’ve listed above have higher purity flavours >81% protein, and are less than a rip off in price as well. Nice job buying the product with one of the highest margin on the market, the salesperson “friend” who sold you that protein slept well that night.

If you are after a low/no carb option, I think the 100% whey is the best in market when priced this way, for taste and consistency/dissolves well
A little more expensive than some, but having tried a dirt cheap one recently that genuinely tasted like nothing despite being choc, will never change again

    • WPI will almost always be a better low carb option than a blend or WPC. What do you mean by best in market?

      • "100% whey is the best in market when priced this way" I.E its reasonably priced compared to WPI.

        • Yes, but this was preceeded by "If you are after a low/no carb option,"

My point is that a blend or straight WPC will almost never be the best low/no carb option when compared to WPI. Doesn't matter how cheap it is. If reducing carbs is your goal then buying cheap WPC is not the way to achieve it.

  • Difference between 100% Whey and Recover series?

    • +1

Curious myself - from google: the main difference is that Recovery has extra carbohydrates to aid muscle glycogen storage. The extra carbs help to replace that glycogen and provide essential nutrients to the body.

  • Good price, think it was like $55 for 900g (supposedly discounted) in Woolies recently….

  • When do these expire? Should I stock up?

    • +3

I got one a couple months ago, expiry in March 2027

I've also got a commbank Yello offer for $10 cashback on $70+ Spend at Chemist Warehouse (not sure if targeted).

Seems worth it if there's something else for ~$4 you can add on, plus can stack with other cashback.

    • Seems like it might be targeted, I dont see that one unfortunately

  • +12

Not a bad offer - only slightly more per gram of protein than the August Direct Chemist Outlet deal:

Props on the sheet, very good info

    • Great job on the spreadsheet mate’

Would be good to add MyProtein, VPA and Bulk Nutrients

  • hi, after I shake the musashi chocolate protein powder with water..got some small black particles.
    What is this?
    This is normal/ safe drink?

    Thanks for everyone explanation 😀

    • +1

Probably just protein powder chunks - safe to drink. Shake it some more - a metal spring ball in the shaker helps

      • Thanks for your help and explanation 👍

  • Is there anything similar long lasting protein powder been having the 8 hour nitrotech from costco. this i'm not 100% comparable

  • Don't drink any of these protein shakes. You'll fart all day, and people will run away from you.

    • Try vegetable protein, a mix to cover all amino profiles. Like rice and pea. Goes well with skim milk and a frozen banana in a blender.

      • Pea protein powder prob has to rank as the no.1 worst thing I’ve ever tasted. Don’t know how you guys do it

    • people will run away from you

You mean they were not before?

    • Some people are just lactose intolerant. I'm not at all because of European heritage

  • I just got some of this. It’s pretty sweet tasting. Wish I could return it.

    • +3

Too sweet for a Kustard King?

      • +1

        Too sweet for the KK.

  • +1

Will AminoZ ever post a protein deal ever again?

    • +3

I actually messaged them earlier today and they said no, not for the time being.

      • +1

At this point - they can keep to their whey all they want.
        I find my whey elsewhere.

  • Whey isolate is also on sale. Does anyone here have any insight on which is better, whey isolate or 100% whey?

    • I would just go with the cheapest protein per gram and as long it's not too "dirty". Unless you are very strict with the macro counting, I don't think isolate or concentrate matters that much. Also their isolate cost more than double the 100% whey so I don't think it's worth it. The 100% whey is around 74g per 100g while the isolate is 78g per 100g so yea not that much of a difference.

    • WPI way better per 100gr nutritional info

    • Bloody costly $81 pe tub..

    • 75% vs 78% protein except the 78% protein is literally double the cost. Not worth.

  • Myprotein is also having 50% sale at the moment even though the email said that the 50% was a "flash" sale that was supposed to end by midnight yesterday. I was able to still get the 50% off at the check out today so. Topcashback also has 8% cashback to stack it up. Their impact whey is about 75g per 100gr so it's similar to musashi 100% whey.

    • When are they not having a sale.

      • Their "sale" fluctuate often, but when their sale is 50% and there is an upsize cashback their price per kg is the cheapest one unless Amino Z decides to do another sale like they used to which probably won't happen anytime soon.

  • Very high majority! I emailed them once asking what percentage the WPI was and they replied 1% LOL. They basically put as little in as possible in order to put in on the label.

    • I'm surprised they were honest. Good on them for that. It really sucks but a lot of products are like this, not just in the supplement industry, where they put insignificant amounts of an ingredient, just enough to be legally permitted to put it on the label and in their advertising. False advertising in my opinion.

      • Yeah. At the end of the day its still 75% overall purity which is pretty good meaning they do not have much fillers considering its fully WPC (80% max purity)

  • +1

I am over all these low grade protein powders, full of extra fillers. I am just buying unflavoured and adding some banana or cacoa powder and blending it. Only 1 ingredient - whey protein either Isolate or Concentrate.

  • +2

50% cashback with TCB posted an hour ago if anyone's interested.

  • Bought the WPI… $66 for 900grams.

Bulk nutrients still cheaper per 100g but I thought I’d try musashi. Musashi Whey is full of crap. Their WPI seems ‘cleaner’. Worth the extra $.

  • $59.99 at woolies

    • Can you share link to the product?

  • +1
  • 1g of protein- $0.043 vanilla Musashi
1g of protein- $0.042 vanilla INC
1g of protein- $0.053 vanilla factionlabs

  • I have to change to vegan protein because of my stupid gut.
    I have 2x chocolate

If anyone wants to buy my new bottles (SE Melb location). PM me.
