    • I much prefer the Casein for smoothies. Thicker consistencies. But not as easy to use for cooking (or I just haven't try hard enough)

      • Would they be good for something like the Ninja Creami as well?

        • Yep

        • Yes but need a bit of work to make the flavour better. I personally use Muscle Nation banoffee pie or boysenberry custard casein for Ninja Creami, it already taste great on its own. I just need to mix it with milk.

        • It's best for ninja creami. I use it all the time

    • +2

Yep. Great high protein option for rest days a couple of hours before bed.

    • Hell yeah I am, thanks for the heads up!

Why are the plant proteins so cheap? Are they (close to?) gram-for-gram equivalent to the normal whey stuff?

    • +1

Plant protein is significantly sub par compared to animal derived protein.

      • -1

can i just add extra portions until it reaches parity?

        • +5

It's an incomplete amino acid profile so adding extra will increase calories but not necessarily increase cellular repair/muscle growth. Animal protein is also much more easily digested.

People that are downvoting me for pointing that out are probably vegans who think other people can't use Google to verify this.

There's also the whole debate about estrogen from soy and other plant derived protein but I'm not touching that at this time.

          • +10

@studentl0an: Bro, its not incomplete at all when multiple protein sources are mixed. In this case rice and pea protein are used in the product. It literally says Complete Amino Acid profile on the front label. Also it has no soy in it.

Also Soy is a complete protein in itself.

Are these superior to Whey? No. Also know that diary is the biggest allergen. You can always add some extra leucine to trigger muscle protein synthesis.

Also its not significantly sub par:

Also INC has fortified vegan protein with BCAA bringing the Amino Acid profile of its whey and vegan protein almost same. Today I learnt a little bit about plant proteins haha :)

        • thanks, I've now learnt quite a bit thanks to your comments.

    • +1

      they taste like plants

    • +3

Most do not have a great consistency compared to whey. Even the best ones (and I’ve tried a lot of them) have a powdery/chalky consistency. So that could be a reason why they’re selling them cheaper.

Ignore the other commenter saying their inferior singular plant proteins e.g. just pea or rice have incomplete amino acid profiles which is why companies tend to blend them together.

  • Go the WPI for $20 more!

    • Out of stock in most places

    • Not worth it unless you can't tolerate WPC.

    • Dumb question, why choose WPI?

      • +3

High protein concentration, low fats and carbs and digest more quickly

      • +1

WPI has negligible amounts of lactose .. Better quality whey blends will have a higher concentration of isolate, the giveaway? check sugar content, high sugar = high lactose = higher amounts of concentrate and/or milk powder.

  • +2

    No whey!!

I see what you did there

    • thanks for the reminder, nice one

  • +3

Hmmn not the cheapest its been

  • How does this taste vs Musashi? I enjoy the 100% whey flavours

    • +2

For me, Musashi flavouring tastes a bit more synthetic/processed. But when you're paying low ~$30/kg for WPC powder in this market, beggars can't be too choosey. I prefer INC flavour profile if I had the option between the two.

    • Musashi is also half price currently btw. https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/91338/musashi-100-wh…

      • This is the one I have, but I like the chocolate one in this deal better.

    • I was just about to comment that I have this and a recent Musashi both in chocolate, I like this one much better.

I use this one with water only and find it quite rich and flavoursome compared to the Musash one. Normally I use some milk and was pretty happy that I didn’t need to. Others tastes may vary tho.

    • I've only had Vanilla of this vs chocolate of Musashi, and I much, much preferred this

  • +1

Any options without these artificial sweeteners?

  • +11

    I miss the aminoz deals.

    • +4

Same. I remember rarely running out of protein and it was always such good quality at such a good price.

      • +1

..then every other product in the world became "high protein" and ruined it for us :-)

    • I reckon if they had a sale now and the prices were decent they’d go gangbusters

  • -2

Musashi 100% is pretty much the same price but it's more like WPI

  • +3

This is a genuinely good deal - even Bulk Nutrients, from whom I have regularly bought protein for a decade or so, has increased in price significantly in the last 18 months. 3kg of WPC used to be $99 including express delivery, and that has inflated to $131 today. With this deal you can get 4kg for that price, albeit with fewer flavour choices (WPC Iced Coffee flavour is elite).

  • Thanks OP - just ordered the choc mint dynamic whey. I got the chocolate a few months ago and like it so thought I'd try this flavour

    • Not a big fan of the choc mint. Doesnt taste as good as the chocolate

      • Hmm … perhaps I should swap it for a choc. Can you share what you don;'t like about it?

        • I like it best to try it mate

  • +1

ugh i need it to drop down to the 45-50 price again

  • +2

Can we make use of top cash back deal?
