Differences in PLA, PLA+, PLA 2.0, PLA Classic, Matte PLA…
  • Sunlu has ratings for each filament but they all have different visual appearances.
  • This is still a work in progress
  • link images if you want to share samples
Filament Recommendations:
  • Matte PLA hides layer lines extremely well
  • Marble PLA for items around the house
  • PLA Classic - slightly matte, and opaque
Will it work with Bambu?

  • Unfortunately Elegoo isn't included this time around. Highly recommend their Galaxy sparkle filament, which is currently out of stock anyway.

    • Some of the galaxy range is in stock

      • yeah, there's only 3 colours. They aren't part of this eBay sale though.

They were in the previous 15/22% deals.

    • I've had clogged hotends two times from using Galaxy Purple. I'm fairly new, so it may be completely user error, but it's only happened while using that filament.

      • what size nozzle & material are you using?

It does have the glitter particles in it, so got to use suitable profile

        • 0.4 nozzle, Centauri Carbon, Elegoo PLA profile with the Elegoo slicer. I've read similar feedback elsewhere; their spec sheet doesn't seem to mention any nozzle requirements.

  • For someone that wants to buy filament as a gift for a teenager what do i need to know in order to get the correct one? (He prints general stuff like key chain, bottle opener, tweezers etc)

    • PLA in any variant is fine.

      Classic
      2.0
      Silk
      Matte

    • +1

I would've thought PETG is better for some of those in particular that need a bit of flex (not in the TPU way).

      • +1

yes, also useful to have some PETG but for a gift, PLA is a safe choice.

You would want to have a dryer for PETG which he may or may not have.

  • My limited experience;
    Expensive
    ~50kg eSun PLA/eSilk/ASA = no clog

    Cheap
Every 10kg of Siddament = 1 clog. A sliver of metal is still stuck in my $80 Tungsten carbide nozzle lol

    Jayo? Sunlu? In your experience?
I know Sunlu makes budget for a long long time now. So can't be too bad?

    • +2

Never had any clogs 1800hours on A1.

      Siddament, Jayo, Sunlu,
      PLA, PETG, TPU

    • Neve had a glog with Siddament to be honest

    • Clogs come down to whether you're using abrasive materials or not

Stuff with extra particles; wood fillings, glitter, glow in the dark, marble, etc

      • Either there was a metal shard that fell out of my S1 pro hot-end or it came from a roll of Siddament Orange PLA. Last clog was also from stuff that I had to yank out of the hot-end. Last time it was easier.

Don't print much, I only gone through 2 shipments of 10kg from them. The orange was from about 3 years ago though.

      • Thanks @Flippsy!

      • What about adding the Tecbears?
~$10 per roll with the buy 10 pay 6 routine and the 17% off (10 x PETG Black) Althought they do have coloured rolls and PLA etc
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/316804347954

        • Tecbears is interesting, pretty sure it's Jayo stock but they aren't always a participating store with the codes.

They are in this round though.

          • @impoze: They were with the 20% off SPRINGCBT too

            • @FlyerOne: It might have been the one before.

I'll add it to the main list

Thanks for mentioning it, updated the spreadsheet with them too. The cheapest just from Tecbears:

          • @Flippsy: Is This is only if you buy 10 of the same spool same colour?

            • @Jklaro: Mix any colour and type, just meet the quantity required.

              • @impoze: Can you mix stores or 10 from one store only

                • @Jklaro: Mix from the single store listing only.

There are just multiple ebay stores and listings. If one doesn't have stock another might.

    Experienced 3D printer people.
I am a product designer student and want a future proof (buy once + cry once) machine that can do strong prints (impact resistant drones, robot parts, machinery).
So I am considering jumping into the deep end and invest in the upcoming Fibreseeker 3 (Solid team from Anisoprint), its a continuous carbon fibre printer (uses X-CCF, X-CGF) as well as many non proprietary fibers sold in this deal. Anyone kind enough to chime in if this Fibreseeker 3 seems like a good/bad investment?

    • +1

You'll need to read up more on places like this reddit discussion as it seems to server more of the industrial crowd.

  • My experience with Jayo has been mixed so far.
The coloured PETG have been mostly ok.
The black high speed PETG has been a nightmare.
No matter what I do can't get rid of bubbles. It's been thoroughly dried. No amount of tuning is helping 😕

    • how long & what temp did you dry it at?
What max volumetric flow do you have it set to in your profile?

      • Max flow came out about 17 after calibration test.
I've been drying with AMS 2 at 65 degrees. Overall it's probably been 40 hours of drying

        • That's odd

Contact them and they will usually exchange it.

I've been through probably two black PETG HS and also used some other colours
