nbn FTTP or HFC 1000/100 $99/Month Ongoing @ Buddy Telco

350

A good option for those that want the Aussie BB network for less, prefer an ongoing price or if your ISP won't give you a new customer deal again.

No contract, no cancellation fees and no notice period.

Note: Buddy Telco support isn't open until tomorrow. You can signup today however you may want to hold off until tomorrow.

Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CG-NAT), Static IP address and Support.

Buddy Telco is using the Aussie BB network to provide nbn.

IPv4 with CG-NAT and a static IPv6 /48 block.

CG-NAT works fine for most users. CG-NAT can break remote access to some home security cameras, some home automation products, home server such as a Plex server and NAS or if you want to host online P2P games. If your home security cameras and automation products use a cloud server you will not be affected by CG-NAT.

Static IP for IPv4 can be added for an extra $5/month and this turns off CG-NAT. You can do this from the Buddy Telco portal.

Buddy Telco are using a chatbot and live chat support.

Our Perth-based live chat team is available Monday to Friday, 11am-7pm (AEST). If you need help outside of these hours, our customer service chatbot offers a range of self-serve options.

Does Buddy Telco have a cancellation fee or notice period?

No - Buddy Telco does not charge any cancellation fees nor require any minimum notice period to close your service. While we would be sad to see you go, we understand that life happens and we want to make the process of closing your service as simple as the rest of the Buddy Telco experience. If you cancel your service mid-cycle, we will only charge you for the days you are connected. You can cancel your service in the Buddy Telco app.

How do I close my service?

You can close your active service using the Buddy Telco app. All you need to do is open the app and select the service you want to close. From there, find the 'Close your service' button, fill out the necessary details and we'll take care of the rest.

Just switched to Leaptel today for the 2gbp plans, but can vouch that buddy was great all year that i used it. Never had to contact support even once.

    • what modem set up do you rock?

      • On buddy 1000/50. Tomorrow 1000/100.

        AVM Fritzbox 7590.

Can confirm it’s been good. I had a failed NTD that was lodged as a ticket and NBN tech came to diagnose and replace after testing it as faulty within 24 hours. Not buddy’s fault though the fault resolution process was smooth through their live chat system.

Looking at the 2G upgrades, I think I’ll stay with buddy for the time being as 2G is quite a price hike for speeds I don’t think I’ll use on ethernet. I am considering a promo 1000/100 but I’m dubious of the cancellation process with other providers just to save a months worth of service.

        • yeah i'm on 1000/100 atm, just deciding what to buy to support it, rocking 3 deco x68's, i am on ethernet backhaul just tryna get best back for my buck for a new rig if i decide to get the 2k download

Didn't Aussie BB just sell Buddy off? Are they still on their network?

        • +2

That doesn't change until next year and are currently/will remain on the Aussie BB network.

Easy to cancel next year if need be.

        • Will no doubt get shoved onto some other dodgy network at a date to ve dcvided

          • @hardya: Aussie BB signed a 6 year agreement.

  • Can you opt out of cg-nat yet without purchasing a dedicated ip?

      No.

For cameras/ private home connections, the Best way around being behind a cgnat is creating a vpn. It should establish new tunnel when changes occur. Port forwarding using a public ip is just scary.
This hopefully shouldn’t be for long before isps all make the transition to ipv6.

  • BuddyTelco days are numbered

One through 31, depending on the month.

    • Its just the same end of any sublet ISP.

  • I tried to downgrade today to the 500/50 and it won't let me on the app.
Says plan change already scheduled. Must be because it's flagged for me 1000/50-1000/100.
