    holy microplastics

worth it instead of drinking the chlorine tasting perth water

      • it might change the taste but it doesnt actually filter out much at all unfortunately

      • Thought the tap water in WA is safe to drink.

        • +2

          safe but not perfect

        • +2

Definitely safe, just tastes like pool water. At least where I live in Perth.

The water you drink from Tap already has microplastics. Unless you use this with hot water you wont be getting more microplastics. So I dont understand your comment.

      • -3

expose to sunlight in this filter will increase microplastics. comment was mostly a joke but i personally wouldnt use it. luckily i have a rainwater tank at home already

        • -1

Dunno why it'd be getting exposure to sunlight. If it's not sitting in the fridge microplastics are the least of your concern as without chlorine in the water you'll get bacterial growth pretty quick

        • Why are you going to put this out in the sun ?!? Most people will use it in their kitchen.

          • +2

@Ryxxi: Some people have lots of windows and get a lot of sun in their kitchen

  • Still using my Brita jug from 7 years ago - can't kill it!

  • There are heaps of Brita jugs in op shops.

These are good for filtering out your wallet with a placebo effect of filtered clean water.

    • Some people (like myself) are hypersensitive to the taste of the safe/clean tap water. Filters help change the “metallic” taste I get from tap water to make it better tasting.

But if you have no objection to tap water as is, then power to you!

      • No. these filters don't filter much of anything out at all, they are basically just a gimmick. Just watch some testing videos. I use water filter that actually work.

Very hard find to buy flitter.that's why i only drink from bottle from woolies.

PSA - Clean your bloody jugs.

I've told this story before, visiting a relative and there was one of these jugs on the table where we were sitting. Looked a little sus. Between the filter and the jug was mouldy… Yes its just water but you still need to wash them all the time!

  • Thank you, finally got one. :)

  • I thought it was a tea maker.

  • Does anyone know of a non plastic larger (2.5L+) fridge door style of water jug? Don't need filters, water here is fine. But any time I search for alternatives to the one I have now (older style of this one which I use without a filter), I only find small 1L glass ones or ones too thick to sit in the fridge door.

    • You could try the Brita Glass Jug. It's 2.5L and seems to be able to fit in the fridge door. I've seen them go on sale at Big W for around $89.

      • Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately its narrowest depth is 17cm. My fridge door shelf is about 13cm so it won't fit.

    • Filter is plastic. Can't avoid that.

  • Has anyone the scoop on an actual filter deal if the jug isn't required?

  • Foot Spa Gift Pack $29

Is this good value or cheaper on temu?

      • Thanks for the link. Tho no one started the commenting yet.

Oops yeah, I should have checked that first :) Not a lot of interest it seems.

  • Bought one. How much are the filters and how often you need to replace?

    • 'The sensor flashes red to indicate when the cartridge should be changed for optimal filtration results - latest after four weeks or when 150L water are filtered."

Do you know who stocks the filters?
